Whoopi Goldberg has come to Prince William‘s defense after his dance moves during Taylor Swift‘s Shake It Off went viral over the weekend.
The 42-year-old Prince of Wales and heir to the British throne took two of his children, 10-year-old Prince George and 9-year-old Princess Charlotte to the Friday night show at London’s Wembley Stadium.
Video from the concert showed William, who celebrated his 42nd birthday that night, dancing the night away, which many online have bashed.
During Monday’s episode of The View, Goldberg, 68, came to William’s defense of the online criticism.
‘Some fans were roasting his moves, but my goodness, it’s the guy’s birthday, lighten up! It’s the guy’s birthday, let him do what he does!’ Goldberg exclaimed.

Sunny Hostin added, ‘I was wondering why they were roasting his moves because he was moving,’ as she tried imitating his moves.
Ana Navarro added, ‘I thought it was incredibly sweet. I loved it because he took two of his kids. I wish he had taken Prince Louis because Prince Louis is the bomb,’ referring to William’s six-year-old youngest child.
Goldberg joked that Prince Louis, ‘doesn’t know how to behave outside,’ as Ana added, ‘These kids have gone through so much. Their mother is dealing with cancer, their grandfather is dealing with cancer, I loved it.’
Navaro also poked fun at another celebrity at the concert – Tom Cruise – who was seen in the box with his Mission: Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie.
He was seen attempting to ‘bop’ along to the music, as Navarro said, ‘He did the least amount. He was like me at the Beyoncé concert pretending I knew the lyrics.’
Goldberg joked, ‘Watch it. Don’t mess with my Tom.’
Sunny Hostin added, ‘That was pure, unadulterated joy for a man whose wife is suffering from cancer. Can’t we enjoy that for him? Come on.’
Sara Haines added ‘I’m a big believer in ‘dance like no one’s watching. That’s the time, even if you have to close your eyes when you’re dancing.’

‘There are a lot of times when I wouldn’t want anyone to see me dance. Everyone is watching him,’ she added.
Alyssa Farah Griffin was also impressed with Prince William’s moves, adding, ‘Go off, future king.”
I loved it. I wasn’t expecting big moves out of William, so I like that he gave them,’ she added, while commenting on the Eras Tour phenomenon.
‘The Eras Tour is such a moment. This had everything. You had Travis Kelce in a top hat on stage. You had Prince William dancing. Hugh Grant admitting to doing shots with Travis Kelce afterward and saying he’s a Swiftie,’ Farah Griffin said.
