The Brooklyn Nets have struck a significant deal with the New York Knicks on Tuesday night. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the agreement will see Nets star Mikal Bridges head to Manhattan after his first full season with the Nets.

The Brooklyn Nets have agreed in principle on a trade to send F Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks for Bojan Bogdanovic, four unprotected first-round picks, a protected first-round pick via the Bucks, an unprotected pick swap, and a second-rounder,” Wojnarowski reported.

The Knicks will send Bojan Bogdanovic and four unprotected first-round picks (2025, 2027, 2029, and 2031) to the Nets. Additionally, Brooklyn will receive a protected first-round pick from the Milwaukee Bucks in 2025, a second-round pick in 2025, and a protected pick swap in 2028.

This trade appears to be a strategic decision for both teams as they aim to revamp their rosters. Brooklyn, which finished 11th in the Eastern Conference with a 32-50 record, is looking to strengthen its future prospects. Meanwhile, New York, after finishing last season with a 50-32 record and securing the No. 2 seed in the conference, is focused on enhancing its current lineup.

Mikal Bridges’ Surprised Response to Trade to Knicks

Mikal Bridges, who was rumored previously with the Houston Rockets, spent three seasons at Villanova. There he won two national championships. He entered the NBA as the 10th overall pick in 2018 after his successful college career at Villanova.

Meanwhile, upon hearing about his trade to the Knicks, Bridges reacted on social media.

“This is crazy lol,” he wrote on X.

Bridges is coming off a strong season, having started all 82 games for Brooklyn. He averaged 19.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.0 steals per game, with shooting splits of 44/37/81. His efforts helped the Nets reach Game 7 of the second round of the 2024 playoffs.

The upcoming deal will reunite Bridges with several former Villanova teammates, including Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo.
