Every NBA enthusiast would be excited to find out where the new talents have landed in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft. This is the time to be familiar with those new names who will showcase their potential in the coming seasons. One of them could even be the future face of the league.

The thrilling Wednesday night started with the Atlanta Hawks claiming the French forward Zaccharie Risacher as their first pick. The 19-year-old Risacher was impressed with his versatility and took the first step. Next came another versatile Frenchman, Alex Sarr, created a buzz during his days at the Wildcats. The Wizards didn’t give a second thought while picking the supremely talented 7-footer center.

The Rockets planned on giving Stephen Curry tough competition in 3-point shooting with their new sharpshooter, the No. 3 pick Reed Sheppard. The Spurs will focus on defense next season after their terrible 22-60 record, so they brought in Stephon Castle.

The Pistons went for the 5th pick, combo forward Ron Holland, while the Hornets acquired Tidjane Salaun. The Blazers bagged 7-foot-2 UConn center Donovan Clingan to get back on track. The Timberwolves added the 7th pick, guard Rob Dillingham, who has been impressive with his ball-handling skills.

The league welcomed another 7-foot-4 center this season, Zach Edey, who the Grizzlies immediately drafted as the No. 9 pick. The Jazz chose Cody Williams, the tenth pick. The Bulls settled for Matas Buzelis’ tremendous dribbling and footwork. Serbian point guard Nikola Topić entered the NBA as the No. 12 pick of the Thunder. The Kings took combo guard Devin Carter. On the other hand, Carlton Carrington was selected by the Wizards (via Blazers).

The Heat had a few changes to make to their upcoming roster, so they started with center Kel’el Ware as No. 15. While the Sixers have a strong team, they aim to make it stronger by adding shooting talent Jared McCain. The Lakers made a big decision by acquiring Dalton Knecht as the No. 17 pick, who could significantly impact the offense. Tristan da Silva is another talented shooter to look forward to in the Magic squad.

The Raptors had much time to decide their fate and took the 19th pick, Ja’Kobe Walter. The Cavaliers drafted the 20th pick, Jaylon Tyson, who has been a massive scorer. Cameroonian center Yves Missi could be the change that the Pelicans needed.

The Nuggets selected DaRon Holmes II with the 22nd pick and the Bucks went for AJ Johnson. Both might not have had terrific college careers but have room for improvement in their new NBA teams. The Wizards selected Kyshawn Johnson with the 24th pick, Pacome Dadiet went to the Knicks, and the Thunder took a shot with Dillon Jones.

The last four picks: Terrence Shannon Jr. was selected by the T’Wolves, Ryan Dunn by the Suns via Nuggets, Isaiah Collier by the Jazz, and the 30th pick Baylor Scheierman was bagged by the champions, Celtics.

With the 2024 NBA Draft’s day one over, we move to Thursday’s second day of the event. This is the first time that a draft has been held in a two-night format.

The second round of the draft will commence on the second day. The venue will be ESPN’s Seaport District Studios in New York City.

The NBA Draft starts at 4 p.m. ET, with the 31st pick and ending with the 58th. We generally get picks until 60, but due to the Suns and the Sixers being penalized, we’ll get two less this year.

Bronny James will be the focus going into the second night, and according to rumors, the Lakers will draft him at 55. But you’ve got to see it to believe it, and you can view it on ESPN Live and the ESPN App.
