NBA Rumors: Lakers Still Eye Drafting Bronny Despite Not Being a Priority for LeBron

The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly interested in drafting Bronny James in the 2024 NBA draft as they look to entice LeBron James into staying with the team.

“They do have interest in bringing Bronny James in as a draft pick,” Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium said Friday on The Pat McAfee Show.

“LeBron James want to play up to two more seasons & obviously the Lakers want to bring him back..

They do have interest in bringing Bronny in as a draft pick”

Bronny James is exploring whether to remain in the draft or transfer from USC. He’s entered his name into the transfer portal after one disappointing season with the Trojans.

While LeBron James was once adamant about finishing his career playing with his eldest son, that’s reportedly no longer the case. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that “the idea of them playing together is not a priority” in the eyes of LeBron James.

The Lakers star could become a free agent this summer if he opts out of the final year his contract. Charania reported James is expected to play at least two more seasons, which would give him a record 23 NBA seasons. James will tie Vince Carter next season for the most in NBA history with 22.
