LeBron James in major career venture as he ‘leaks’ new Tom Brady-style campaign ahead of TV launch
LEBRON James has left NBA fans buzzing after announcing his new partnership with Fanatics.
The Los Angeles Lakers star appeared to have accidentally revealed a few projects his new career venture might yield in an effort similar to Tom Brady’s recent promo campaign.
LeBron James has teased an exciting new partnership with Fantics and Topps, sending NBA fans wild
The NBA star seemingly revealed some of his upcoming projects in his announcement, suggesting the new venture could emulate Tom Brady’s recent promo campaign
James, 39, shared a picture on his social media showing him holding a paper sheet with the Fanatics logo in the heading.
“Greatness awaits,” he captioned the post.
Fans quickly noticed that the backlight made it possible to see through the paper and read some of the sheet’s contents.
It included a list of what appeared to be titles of upcoming releases, preceded by the four-time NBA champion’s first name and a colon.
Some of the entries included We All Start Somewhere, First Court, First Touchdown, and First Game Winner.
Interestingly, James tagged both Fanatics and trading card manufacturer Topps – which Michael Rubin’s sportswear giant acquired in 2022 – in his Instagram post.It comes less than a month after Topps launched a brilliant marketing campaign in collaboration with Brady, inspired by the NFL icon’s high school baseball career.
The campaign imagined a world in which Brady picks baseball over football while featuring countless references to his real-life NFL accolades.
It promoted a special card showing the retired quarterback in a Montreal Expos jersey, the team that selected the would-be seven-time Super Bowl champion in the 18th round of the 1995 MLB Draft.
Just like Brady, James was a two-sport athlete in high school.
The 6-foot-9 Lakers forward played wide receiver on the St. Vincent-St. Mary football team while emerging as basketball’s next big thing.
All these years later, he is a 19-time All-Star who continues to play at the highest level in Year 21, averaging 25.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 7.4 assists in the 2023-24 NBA season.
His Lakers have been enduring an ugly slump over the last month, going 4-10 since winning the inaugural In-Season Tournament in early December.
However, Los Angeles made a statement on Sunday, beating the red-hot LA Clippers 106-103.
