LeBron James Addresses Report That Bronny Will Enter Transfer Portal

LeBron James led the Los Angeles Lakers to a road win over the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday night. While discussing the victory, which was the Lakers’ seventh win in eight games, James weighed in on the future of his eldest son Bronny at USC.

Dick Weiss of the NY Daily News reported Tuesday that Bronny is set to enter the transfer portal following his freshman season with the Trojans. LeBron didn’t confirm or deny the possibility of Bronny continuing his college basketball career elsewhere, though he did address the situation with reporters.

“I don’t know where it came from, but at the end of the day, Bronny’s his own man and he has some tough decisions to make. When he’s ready to make those decisions he’ll let us all know, but as his family we’re going to support whatever he does,” James said (via Dave McMenamin of ESPN).

Bronny spent his freshman year coming off the bench for the Trojans, averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists across 25 games, including six starts.

He missed the first eight games of the season after suffering cardiac arrest during an offseason workout at USC in July. He was eventually cleared to play and made his college basketball debut in a game against Long Beach State in December, during which he played 16 minutes and scored four points.

Although James didn’t say whether Bronny would be entering the transfer portal, he did make it clear that his son has some important decisions looming.
