Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, had a specific ask for the NFL prior to this year’s scouting combine.

Despite being a prominent figure in promoting the league’s product,

given his three Super Bowl victories and two NFL MVP awards,

Mahomes doesn’t appreciate all the attention the league gives him.

Mahomes posted a 4.80 for his 40-yard dash in the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine.

That’s a number Mahomes doesn’t seem too proud of.

The 40-yard dash didn’t mean much to Mahomes’ career

Many top prospects opt out of the combine for a reason. They believe that some of the measurements conducted there pale in comparison to what can be observed from actual game footage.

Given Mahomes’ illustrious career as a three-time Super Bowl champion, it’s evident that his abilities far exceed the significance of a 40-yard dash time. Keeping the video of his sprint as an overlay won’t sway coaches like Matt LaFleur into believing that attending the event is necessary.
