Louis Rees-Zammit has opened up on what makes Patrick Mahomes so special – and the qualities the quarterback shares with a former Wales rugby teammate.

Rees-Zammit has been enjoying a whirlwind first few weeks with the Chiefs, having joined the Super Bowl champions following his shock switch of sports.

After signing a three-year deal with Kansas City, Rees-Zammit was recently given a first glimpse of three-time Super Bowl champion Mahomes up close.

The 23-year-old former Wales wing played with – and against – some of the finest players in rugby and already Rees-Zammit can see similarities between the best of both sports.

‘Patrick is unbelievable at reading the game,’ he explained. ‘A fly-half is probably the most similar position in rugby… (and) Dan Biggar was probably my favorite 10.

‘He’s one of the best 10s to ever play the game – you can really see how they read the game so quickly and are able to make decisions very quickly as well.’

Biggar retired last year after winning 112 caps for Wales and Rees-Zammit added: ‘Mahomes can read the game, he can read his cues, he can scan the defense quickly. And then he can make plays as well. Dan’s done that since he made his debut for Wales.’

Superstars Mahomes and Travis Kelce are among his new teammates who lead on and off the field but Rees-Zammit believes Kansas City’s success – the Chiefs have won three Super Bowls in five years – is down to everyone having a voice.

‘Every player will speak up and have an opinion and it just goes to show why they’ve been so great over the past few years,’ he revealed.

‘Obviously you have Pat and Travis who mainly lead it, but everyone within the team stands up and has an opinion and that is unbelievable… you want to have those leaders that are going to push you on when times when times are tough.’

Rees-Zammit is listed as a running back by the Chiefs but he is also expected to be used on special teams – and possibly as a receiver, too.

The 23-year-old is currently staying in a hotel and spends every night trying to learn the Chiefs playbook alongside backup quarterback Ian Book.

That has proved to be the biggest shock to the former wing’s system since switching sports.

‘Every team has their own playbook and certain language they use. So it’s kind of it’s kind of like learning a new language completely,’ he said.

‘We’ve literally been in our rooms calling the plays, standing next to each other.’

He added: ‘You probably learn up to a thousand plays throughout the season in the NFL… whereas in rugby, you probably learn you probably learn 60 plays.’

Rees-Zammit’s teammates are also adapting to having a new voice in the locker room.

‘They all love the UK accent and the different words we use – the boys have been laughing about in the locker room,’ he said.

‘I don’t think they say “mate” out here. So everyone loves that word… I don’t notice it because I just speak normally and then they’re like: “what does that word mean?”‘

Travis’ mom also opened up to Martha Stewart about why her sons tend to be forgetful about Mother’s Day.

Donna Kelce is still a big fan of son Travis’ relationship with Taylor Swift.

The Kelce matriarch sat down for a special Mother’s Day episode of The Martha Stewart Podcast, where she opened up to the lifestyle guru about why her NFL star son has found so much compatibility in his high-profile romance with the Midnights singer.

“They’re both friendly. They’re both generous. They’re both loving. They’re both caring individuals,” she reflected.

“You never know,” Donna added of the couple’s possible future together. “Time will tell.”

Taylor certainly has some big shoes to fill when it comes to becoming a Kelce daughter-in-law. Travis’ older brother, recently retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, has been married to his wife, Kylie, for six years, and the couple shares three daughters: Wyatt, 4, Elliotte, 3, and Bennett, 1.

“[Jason] got so lucky. She is amazing,” Donna raved of her daughter-in-law. “Kylie is just one of a kind. I can’t say enough things about her. She holds the house together and she is an amazing woman.”

However, it seems neither Kylie, nor Taylor, can help keep Donna’s sons on track when it comes to remembering Mother’s Day. She joked that while her boys are usually extremely devoted, the early May holiday tends to slip through the cracks.

“They always remember my birthday, and they’re very generous at giving me gifts and things like that, trips and what have you, and taking care of Mom,” Donna shared. “I don’t have anything that I can complain about.”

“It’s just that that’s one of those days that’s in the middle of May, they’re on their off-season, they’re traveling, they’re at the Derby, they’re doing things and on vacation and enjoying themselves,” she noted with a laugh. “I think it slips their mind and they’re like, ‘Oh, Jesus, Mother’s Day, I better text my mom.’”

Travis was indeed in attendance at the Kentucky Derby this year — though without Taylor on his arm. However, the event came just a few weeks after the pair stepped out in Las Vegas to attend a charity event hosted by Travis’ Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.

An eyewitness told ET at the time that Taylor and Travis walked into the gala “holding hands and were affectionate all night.”

The eyewitness added that throughout the night, there was “lots of kissing and just overall happiness between them. The support is there for one another.”

“The two seem to be in good spirits and definitely in love,” said the eyewitness.

Next up, Taylor is set to jet off to Portugal to restart her record-breaking Eras Tour at the end of the month. And while her and Travis’ relationship is constantly being photographed, Donna told Martha Stewart that she highly doubts either of her sons would want to be in front of the cameras full-time, for example, on their own reality show.

“I don’t think either one of them wants to do reality TV,” the proud mother admitted. “Travis did it a little bit in the very beginning of his career, but I think he decided that that’s not something he really wants to do 24/7.”

“They’ll do bits and pieces, he’ll do a little bit of game shows, maybe Jason will do some production work, you know, it just depends on what comes their way,” she added. “They’re dabbling in a lot of different stuff right now.”

Amid the release of her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, CBS Philadelphia spoke with two of Swift’s 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥hood teachers who said her love for music began at a very early age.

Barbara Kolvek, Swift’s elementary school music teacher, told the outlet that the Grammy winner, 34, said she wanted to be a singer in second grade.

“She always was writing poetry — always — even in music class, even when she shouldn’t,” said Kolvek, who shared that she gave Swift “her very first singing solo.”

The now-retired educator was Swift’s music teacher from first to fourth grade and told the news station the two kept in touch “for a while.”

“I feel like maybe I gave her a little spark or encouragement to do what she was doing,” Kolvek said.

Heather Brown, Swift’s third-grade teacher, spoke about Swift’s “special quality.”

“You always remember every student from the quality they have. Taylor’s quality was just being she was one of those students where people just drew to,” Brown told CBS Philadelphia.

Brown told the outlet that although she still sends Swift a Christmas card every year even though “she probably doesn’t get the messages anymore.” Noting that everything Swift touches “turns to gold,” she added that she is “just so excited to see what comes next.”

“When she comes out on stage and everyone’s screaming ‘Taylor,’ it’s like, oh my gosh, like I was her teacher,” Brown said.

After the release of The Tortured Poets Department, Swift broke multiple Spotify records, including becoming the most streamed artist in one day and the artist with the most streamed album in one day.

Her new album also achieved over 300 million streams. Its first single, “Fortnight,” became the most-streamed song in a single day in the streaming platform’s history.

In an Instagram post celebrating its release, Swift described the album as “an anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions, and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time – one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure.”

What Happened: According to a Bloomberg report on Thursday, Swift’s four performances at La Défense Arena — which has a maximum seating capacity of 40,000 — are seeing a larger influx of U.S. visitors compared to the Paris Olympics.

The agency indicates that Swift’s concerts are pulling in five times as many Americans as the global sporting event, which is surprising given the magnitude of the Olympics.

Contrastingly, the demand for the Olympic Games seems to be lower than expected, with hotel rates falling by over 30% in the past half-year, according to travel insights firm Lighthouse.

Unboxing the gift on social media, Spencer gushed, ‘Yeah, that’s right! That’s a note from Taylor Swift. Handwritten, of course!’

He then pulled out a large vinyl copy of the singer’s new album and vowed to frame it on his wall.

Digging through the box, Spencer unwrapped a beige colored sweatsuit branded with ‘TTPD’ – The Tortured Poet’s Department.

‘Oh, you’ve gotta be kidding me,’ he exclaimed. ‘As much as I love a cardigan, people have been saying I look like an old lady in a cardigan.’

He continued, ‘I don’t care what people say obviously, but I’m not gonna look like an old lady anymore in my sweatsuit from Taylor Swift!’

From there, he opened a small box containing a gold bracelet, which was also branded with TTPD.

Unfortunately, the reality star admitted that the bracelet was too small for his wrist, so he turned it into a makeshift necklace instead by connecting it to one of his Pratt Daddy chains.

‘I’m gonna go on a wrist diet so we can get this clasp around my thick wrist,’ he said.

In another video, Spencer changed into the sweatsuit and then posed while waving around the new album and the handwritten note from Taylor.

‘This drip from @taylorswift is life changing,’ he gushed in the caption.

The short note started by saying, ‘To my fellow member of The Tortured Poets Department, here are some tokens of my gratitude for your support, from me, sincerely.’

It continued, ‘I hope you’ll welcome this album into your life (and vinyl collection!) with all my love, and tortured poetry.’

The hitmaker signed off with, ‘Your friend, Taylor.’

Spencer and Taylor’s friendship goes back years and started when The Hills villain vociferously defended the pop star against backlash she received in 2016 following her feud with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

At the time, the public had turned against Taylor and were flooding her social media pages with snake emojis.

To repay Spencer for his public support during that period, Taylor invited him, along with wife Heidi Montag and their son Gunner, to see her Reputation tour.

She also invited the family backstage to hang out and took selfies with them.
