On the latest episode of their New Heights podcast, Travis was quick to defend himself

Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce have a brotherly rivalry on the field, and at the tailgate.

During the latest episode of their New Heights podcast, the Kelce brothers were joined by Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, who asked which brother would win in a drinking contest.

“I’m pretty sure I’ve beaten Jason the last three to five times,” Travis said at the start.

 

Jason immediately got on the defensive to clear his name. “This is completely made up. First of all, what’s the competition? You’re talking about chugging a beer?” Jason added. Barkley clarified it was about chugging, adding, “Who’s calling it quits?”

Jason then said that he can “definitely drink more volume – I don’t think that’s a question.”

Clearly in shock and disagreement, Travis hilariously quipped, “What?” He then noted that they weigh similar amounts, which could be a contributing factor to who can beat the other.

“You’re already down to 260. We’re in the same weight class now,” he said.

“Yeah I know,” said Jason. “But you don’t have the heart I do when it comes to drinking. You’ve been drinking more than I have recently.”

Travis responded with a fiery claim: “He hasn’t stayed out past 10 p.m. since 2017!”

Jason found several examples to prove Travis’s bold statement wrong. “Did you not see me at your playoff games this year?” the now-retired Eagles player said to which Travis quipped, “Do you remember any of that?” Still keeping up his fight, Jason said “No – because I was drinking all day.”

When it comes to drinking games, the dad of three said he’d beat his brother without question.

“I will destroy him because I got the mental advantage,” Jason added.

When Barkley asked which brother would reign supreme when it comes to shotgunning a beer, Travis tried to remember if the last time they did so was after the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs.

“We didn’t shotgun beers after the Bills, did we?” Jason asked, prompting all three NFL pros to laugh.

Travis then pointed to the silly moment in January when Jason went viral after pulling his shirt off in the stands of Highmark Stadium while cheering on his brother.

“You had a shirt on at that point,” he said with a laugh. “Well, it’s on like Donkey Kong,” he added. “We’re going to enter ourselves in this drinking contest. Maybe at the shore or something.”

The pair and Cleveland Heights natives put their drinking chops to the test when they were served beers by the Cleveland Cavaliers mascot Moondog during a game. In a video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), the two were busy before the mascot approached them with two beers.

They then stood up and lifted their beers to the sky before clinking their cups. The video, which had no sound, then captured the Kelces swiftly gulping their drinks down and smiling once they had finished.

Travis then then raised his arms up to hype of the crowd, while Jason lifted a fist up in the air and hugged the mascot.

 

Ask most NFL fans if there’s anything sexy about the league’s offensive line play and they’ll likely respond with an emphatic, “No.”

But ask People magazine and they’ll single out Eagles center Jason Kelce as one of the sexiest men in the world.Indeed, it was revealed on Tuesday that the elder Kelce brother had been named a finalist for People’s prestigious “Sexiest Man Alive” award. Naturally, the 36-year-old immediately responded to his recognition with a humorous and self-deprecating social media post.

With several networks in hot pursuit of Jason Kelce for a television role, ESPN appears to have a specific idea in mind for the recently retired Eagles center, and it could come with a casualty.

Yet another “Monday Night Football” makeover is in the works and Robert Griffin III’s role on the pregame show “is in jeopardy,” The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand reports.

Amazon, CBS and NBC are also interested in Kelce, 36, as ESPN “aggressively” pursues the seven-time Pro Bowler, per the report.

In the wake of last summer’s mass layoffs that saw former host Suzy Kolber get let go, Scott Van Pelt became the new host of “Monday Night Countdown.”

The desk also included RG3, Marcus Spears and Ryan Clark, who re-signed with ESPN last month after a contract impasse.

Spears and Clark are expected to return, according to the report, and features reporter Michelle Beisner-Buck, the wife of play-by-play guy Joe Buck, is also staying on the show.

Larry Fitzgerald, who had a part-time role on the show, is currently not under contract and his future on the program is uncertain, the report said.

Kelce — who hosts the popular “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Chiefs star Travis Kelce — appears as if he’ll be the first domino to fall as the networks consider changes to their NFL personnel for 2024.

Bill Belichick is lingering as a wild card, though he reportedly is not interested in a traditional studio role.

Peyton Manning is trying to sign Belichick for a role with his Omaha Productions company, which partners with ESPN, The Athletic previously reported.

RG3, the former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback who last played for the Ravens in 2020, recently caused a stir by saying in a social media video that USC quarterback Caleb Williams, the likely top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, should “pull an Eli Manning” and refuse to play for the Bears, who hold the No. 1 pick.

“After everything that’s happened with just Justin Fields, can Caleb Williams really look at that and say, ‘You know what? This is the organization that has my best interest at heart and they are going to help develop me into the player that I want to become,’” Griffin said.

Kelce retired earlier this month after 13 NFL seasons, all with the Eagles.

Coming off back-to-back Super Bowl wins, the Chiefs and Andy Reid are expected to begin negotiations in the coming weeks on a new contract that NFL sources believe should soon make Reid the highest-paid coach in football.

General manager Brett Veach is also in line for a new deal, replacing the final two years on the contracts the duo signed following the 2019 season after the Chiefs’ win in Super Bowl LIV.

 

 

Since then, Kansas City has won two more championships — including this month’s Super Bowl LVIII victory over the San Francisco 49ers, which made the Chiefs the first repeat champions since the 2003-04 Patriots. And despite perpetual media speculation about retirement, the 65-year-old Reid has shown no signs of slowing down, confirming a day after Super Bowl LVIII that he would return in pursuit of a three-peat.

Throughout last season, league sources pointed out how unusual it is for a team to not finalize extensions after a Super Bowl win — in this case, the second title for Reid and Veach, who previously won Super Bowl LIV in February 2020 and agreed to new six-year deals that fall. A third championship after beating the 49ers this month in Las Vegas put the duo in rarified air, setting the stage for contracts that bring them in line with the NFL’s best and then some.

Reid is believed to rank roughly eighth among head coaches in average annual value on his contract — and third in the AFC West after the big-money additions in the past two years of Sean Payton and Jim Harbaugh, respectively. Veach, 46, is believed to be one of the NFL’s lowest-paid GMs.

Coach and GM contracts aren’t public record like player contracts, so tracking them can be tricky. But sources say a half-dozen NFL coaches are believed to be making $15 million or more per year, even after the dismissals of Bill Belichick and Pete Carroll this offseason. And it’s fair to say the Chiefs’ lack of new deals — and raises — for Reid and Veach after last year’s title was an anomaly in the modern NFL, raising some eyebrows around the league.

One year after the Chiefs’ first title under the current regime, the Bucs won Super Bowl LV and announced new contracts with head coach Bruce Arians and general manager Jason Licht that June. The Rams won Super Bowl LVI after that and announced extensions that September for head coach Sean McVay and GM Les Snead. (McVay acknowledged his was done much earlier.) The Eagles likewise announced extensions for head coach Doug Pederson and GM Howie Roseman after they won Super Bowl LII in February 2018.

Since that third Super Bowl win a couple of weeks ago, the Chiefs have signed defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo to a new three-year contract that puts him among the NFL’s highest-paid at the position and extended the contract of special teams coordinator Dave Toub.

Now, it’s Reid and Veach’s turn, with new deals potentially done by next month’s Annual League Meeting (March 24-27).

It’s a Kelce world and we’re all just living in it.

The NFL siblings are just about the most popular duo in sports having dominated on and off the field with their larger than life personalities and Hall of Fame-worthy careers.

Former Eagles star Jason recently announced his retirement from the NFL after 13 glorious years, begging the question ‘what comes next?’

According to The Athletic, Kelce’s next job could involve a deal with one of the major television networks – and it may even include Travis and their immensely popular ‘New Heights’ podcast.

Per the report, NBC, CBS and ESPN are all interested in acquiring Jason’s talents for a major television role, with ESPN in particular zeroing in on the ex offensive lineman.

Interestingly, Amazon Prime Video are also a contender to land the elder Kelce’s services, with one potential deal on the table involving Travis and their podcast.

“Amazon Prime Video could only offer a contributor spot on ‘Thursday Night Football,’” it’s claimed.

“But, if the Kelces brought their podcast under the Amazon umbrella, it could be part of a bigger deal.”

It is stated that Kelce already has a relationship with Amazon after his hit documentary, ‘Kelce’, with wife Kylie, landed on the platform last year.

The potential for a streaming giant to sweeten any future TV deal with Jason by paying a huge chunk of money for the exclusive rights to his podcast is certainly an interesting proposition.

However, Jason and Travis are yet to suggest they plan on taking their podcast anywhere anytime soon, with pretty much anything still a possibility.

The Kelces launched their award-winning podcast in September 2022, just months before they met in Super Bowl LVII – dubbed the ‘Kelce Bowl’ – where Travis’ Chiefs beat Jason’s Eagles, 38-35.

The pod covers a range of topics, mostly from the NFL, as well as pop culture and the brothers’ own personal lives.

They’ve also had a ton of special guests on including Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes and, more recently, new Eagles running back Saquon Barkley.

‘New Heights’ has steadily risen in popularity and in January the brothers announced the show had accumulated more than 2 million YouTube subscribers, a total that has since climbed to more than 2.4 million.

The show’s success was recognised at the recent iHeartMedia’s 2024 iHeartPodcast Awards where ‘New Heights’ took home the prize of podcast of the year.

“Listen, this is an incredible honor, especially for two jabronis like us, to receive an award like this is beyond humbling and we would be remiss if we didn’t immediately thank all of the 92 percenters [their fanbase] out there — aka Swifties — who voted for us to win this award,” Jason said.

“Thank you guys for everything. We truly do have the best fanbase in the entire world,” Travis said.

They followed that award up by winning the Best Sports Podcast award from The Podcast Academy.

There’s no denying Jason is massively in-demand now that he’s officially hung up his Eagles jersey.

The 36-year-old certainly isn’t short of options for his next career move, with one legend from another sport even willing to train him into its next ‘superstar’.

On Sunday, the NFL quarterback’s wife, Kansas City Current co-owner Brittany Mahomes, 27, shared photos on her Instagram Story as the family of four prepares for more summer travels.

“Here we go again 😂 Home for 2 days & leaving again! Patrick ended OTAs and only had one month before he reports to training camp… so we have decided to travel that entire month YOLO.”

Next, the mom of two shared a photo daughter Sterling Skye, 2, on her dad’s back, perched in a seat on top of a hiking backpack.

“We are ready to go hiking,” Brittany wrote.

Brittany shared a carousel of photos from their Maui wedding, as she marked the sweet anniversary. “Happy 1st Anniversary,” she wrote. “One of the best weeks of my life, marrying your best friend it’s one of the greatest things you could do!”
