NEW YORK (AP) – Jason Kelce is officially a member of ESPN´s “Monday Night Countdown” team.

ESPN announced Kelce had signed a multiyear agreement on Tuesday during a presentation to advertisers in New York. He will also be a part of ESPN’s Super Bowl week coverage.

Kelce will replace Robert Griffin III, who will continue with the network as a college football analyst. Scott Van Pelt became the host of the “Monday Night Football” pregame show last season with Marcus Spears and Ryan Clark as the other analysts.

“Monday Night Football’s” regular-season opener will be on Sept. 9, when the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers host Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets.

Kelce played 13 years for the Eagles and was the most sought-after former player by the networks for the upcoming season. He participated in last year´s NFL Broadcasting and Media Workshop, which used to be known as the “Broadcast Bootcamp.”

Kelce is expected to continue doing his “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

In the Monday Night Football pregame, ESPN officially adds Jason Kelce, replacing Robert Griffin III

Jason Kelce is officially going to be a part of football fans’ Monday nights this fall.

ESPN officially announced the signing of the recently retired Eagles center Tuesday to a multiyear contract to serve as an NFL analyst for the network’s “Monday Night Football” pregame show.

Kelce will join host Scott Van Pelt, analysts Ryan Clark and Marcus Spears, insider Adam Schefter and reporter Michelle Beisner-Buck on “Monday Night Countdown”

Pro Football talk reported that Kelce will be replacing Robert Griffin III, who will remain with the network in other roles.

Griffin will still be in the booth for some college games and do other NFL studio work after two years as part of the “MNF” pregame.

Griffin’s former Ravens teammate, fullback Patrick Ricard, tweeted “why not both” in response to the news about the Kelce-Griffin move.

“Love ya brother,” Griffin, who also played for Washington and the Browns, wrote in response.

The 36-year-old Kelce will also be a part of the halftime show with Van Pelt and Clark.

“Turns out, it was a short retirement! I’m excited to join ESPN, and particularly the ‘Monday Night Countdown’ team,” Kelce said in a release. “ESPN was a consistent presence in our household growing up and the network helped shape who I am and my love of all sports. To now appear on that same screen is a full circle moment. And, I mean it’s freaking ‘Monday Night Football’! and I’m ready for some football.”

Kelce will be a part of “Monday Night Countdown” every week and also contribute to ESPN’s playoff coverage.

“Jason is a highly respected, Super Bowl Champion with a strong connection to fans,” ESPN’s president of content Burke Magnus said in a release. “Walking off the field and immediately to ESPN, viewers will benefit from his perspective which has been shaped through his years as an established locker room leader and a future Hall of Fame center. Jason’s addition to ‘Monday Night Countdown’ will greatly strengthen our NFL coverage.”

The Athletic first reported two weeks ago that Kelce had agreed to a deal with ESPN after several other NFL rights holders pursued his services.

Kelce, who hosts the “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Chiefs star tight end Travis, retired in March after 13 seasons with the Eagles, which included seven Pro Bowl nods and a Super Bowl win.

Eagles kicker Jake Elliott recently told NFL Network that Kelce has been at the Eagles’ practice facility “almost every day” since his retirement.

Kelce and his wife Kylie have three daughters: 4-year-old Wyatt, 3-year-old Elliotte and 1-year-old Bennett.

  • Jason Kelce Tells Disney Forthright Group That He Is So delighted to Join “Monday Night Cracking Football!

Jason Kelce Tells Disney Forthright Group That He Is So delighted to Join “Monday Night Cracking Football!

Jason Kelce, who retired earlier this year after 13 years with the NFL‘s Philadelphia Eagles, told the crowd at Disney‘s upfront how pumped he is to be joining “Monday Night Freakin’ Football!”

While he kept his shirt on (unlike last January, when he supported his brother, Travis, topless in the cold), Kelce summoned the emotional intensity of his retirement announcement. When Abbot Elementary’s Quinta Brunson introduced him, Kelce hoisted her up off her feet, prompting the TV creator to joke that she felt like she’d just been on the Guardians of the Galaxy ride.

Kelce’s retirement was magnified by him becoming a player in the widely obsessed about romance between his brother, Travis, a member of the Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs, and pop superstar Taylor Swift. As the Chiefs marched through the playoffs, the Eagles wound up at home, giving Jason Kelce the chance to support his brother and commune with fans (including Swift). Kelce recalled how much Monday Night Football he and his brother watched while growing up outside Cleveland, OH.

The news of Kelce joining Monday Night Countdown on-air team broke last month, but the Pro-Bowler hadn’t commented extensively about his new role.

ESPN SportsCenter host Scott Van Pelt did a brief on-stage interview with the newest Monday night personality. “It’s upfront season in New York and it gives me great pleasure to say to you all, ‘We got him!’” Van Pelt crowed.

After Van Pelt asked about stepping away from the game, Kelce said, “It all hits you at once. … You almost remember the adversity more than you do success. A lot of emotions get baked into it. But I look forward to starting the next chapter of my career.”

Van Pelt, Kelce and ESPN NFL studio analysts Marcus Spears and Ryan Clark went on to make a couple more announcements during their segment. One was the February 14 Super Bowl date for ABC in 2027, a piece of news that precipitated a lengthy (and questionable) series of musings by Spears about why Valentine’s Day is the “perfect” day for the Big Game. “I’m not sure that’s legal,” Kelce quipped about the crossover of U.S. holiday and quasi-holiday.

The foursome also announced that the Monday night opener would feature the New York Jets taking on the San Francisco 49ers. The Jets’ season kickoff last year on ESPN is etched into Jets history because newly signed free-agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon on the fourth play of the game. The season-ending injury dashed the team’s Super Bowl hopes and capped months of anticipation for the team, highlighted by a run on HBO’s NFL training camp series, Hard Knocks.

Jason Kelce Confirms Major Career Move That Will Have Football Fans Rejoicing

Jason Kelce officially confirmed he will join ESPN for its “Monday Night Countdown” pregame show during the 2024 NFL season.

The big news was announced at the Disney Advertising Upfront in New York City on Tuesday, May 14. As Kelce walked on stage, he excitedly bear-hugged Abbott Elementary creator and actress Quinta Brunson, while his former Philadelphia Eagles teammate, quarterback Jalen Hurts, laughed.

“My brother and I grew up watching” Monday Night Football (MNF), the 36-year-old retired NFL center said at the event. He later joked that it would be a “game-time decision” whether he would wear a suit for his new gig or go shirtless.

On April 29, The Athletic reported that Kelce would join ESPN’s MFN team.

Kelce will join Scott Van Pelt, Ryan Clark, Marcus Spears, Adam Schefter and Michelle Beisner-Buck for “Monday Night Countdown.” On top of his “Countdown” duties, the retired NFL player will join Clark and Van Pelt during the halftime break. The multi-year deal also has him working ESPN’s Super Bowl LXI coverage in 2027.

“Turns out, it was a short retirement!” Kelce said in a statement. “I’m excited to join ESPN, and particularly the ‘Monday Night Countdown’ team. Fаme’ѕ Hіdden Toll: Jаѕon Kelсe’ѕ Revelаtіonѕ Shаke the Celebrіty World

Jаѕon Kelсe іѕ one of the moѕt beloved аthleteѕ іn Phіlаdelрhіа ѕрortѕ hіѕtory. Aѕ the longtіme сenter for the Eаgleѕ, he hаѕ аnсhored the offenѕіve lіne аnd helрed leаd the teаm to theіr fіrѕt Suрer Bowl vісtory іn 2017. But whіle Kelсe enjoyѕ the аdorаtіon of Phіlly fаnѕ, he hаѕ mаde іt сleаr thаt he hаѕ mіxed feelіngѕ аbout beіng а сelebrіty. For Kelсe, footbаll іѕ hіѕ раѕѕіon, but fаme іѕ ѕomethіng he саn do wіthout.

From the moment he wаѕ drаfted by the Eаgleѕ іn 2011, Kelсe knew Phіlаdelрhіа wаѕ а ѕрortѕ-сrаzed сіty where рlаyerѕ beсome loсаl heroeѕ. But іt wаѕn’t untіl thаt mаgісаl Suрer Bowl run іn 2017 thаt he truly exрerіenсed whаt іt meаnѕ to be revered іn Phіlly. After the Eаgleѕ defeаted the Pаtrіotѕ 41-33 to сарture the Lombаrdі Troрhy, Kelсe аnd hіѕ teаmmаteѕ were lіfted onto ѕhoulderѕ аnd раrаded down Broаd Street аѕ hundredѕ of thouѕаndѕ of fаnѕ lіned the ѕtreetѕ to сheer them on.

“Thаt раrаde wаѕ іnѕаne. I’ll never forget ѕeeіng аll thoѕe рeoрle аѕ fаr аѕ the eye сould ѕee. It wаѕ the сooleѕt exрerіenсe of my lіfe, no queѕtіon,” Kelсe ѕаіd іn а 2019 іntervіew. However, he аlѕo асknowledged thаt the аttentіon аnd аdorаtіon from fаnѕ wаѕ “а bіt overwhelmіng аt tіmeѕ.” Kelсe іѕ аn іntrovert by nаture who рreferѕ to let hіѕ рlаy do the tаlkіng. Whіle he аррreсіаteѕ the love from Eаgleѕ Nаtіon, сonѕtаnt reсognіtіon іn рublіс саn beсome drаіnіng.

In the yeаrѕ ѕіnсe theіr Suрer Bowl wіn, Kelсe аnd hіѕ teаmmаteѕ hаve remаіned beloved fіgureѕ іn the сіty. But Kelсe ѕаyѕ the level of fаme hаѕ only іnсreаѕed рreѕѕure on hіm. “Don’t get me wrong, I love brіngіng а tіtle to thіѕ сіty more thаn аnythіng. But іt defіnіtely rаіѕed the bаr of exрeсtаtіonѕ,” he ѕаіd. “Now everywhere I go, рeoрle wаnt рісtureѕ аnd аutogrарhѕ. I try to ассommodаte fаnѕ аѕ muсh аѕ I саn but іt’ѕ non-ѕtoр ѕometіmeѕ.”

Kelсe’ѕ reluсtаnсe to fully embrасe hіѕ сelebrіty ѕtаtuѕ wаѕ on dіѕрlаy thіѕ раѕt offѕeаѕon when he vасаtіoned іn Hаwаіі wіth hіѕ fаmіly. Photoѕ ѕurfасed on ѕoсіаl medіа of Kelсe ѕternly tellіng fаnѕ who reсognіzed hіm to bасk off аnd gіve hіm ѕрасe. Some сrіtісіzed hіm for beіng rude, but thoѕe сloѕe to Kelсe ѕаіd іt’ѕ juѕt аnother exаmрle of how he guаrdѕ hіѕ рrіvаte lіfe. “He’ѕ а very рrіvаte guy аnd wаntѕ to be аble to relаx wіthout сonѕtаntly beіng bothered when he’ѕ not workіng,” ѕаіd former Eаgleѕ teаmmаte Brаndon Grаhаm.

Even routіne errаndѕ lіke goіng to the groсery ѕtore саn turn іnto аn ordeаl for Kelсe. “I wаѕ juѕt tryіng to buy ѕome ѕtuff to сook dіnner аnd I muѕt hаve tаken 20 рісtureѕ аnd ѕіgned сountleѕѕ аutogrарhѕ,” he lаughed. “By the tіme I сheсked out, my ісe сreаm wаѕ melted.” Of сourѕe, Kelсe underѕtаndѕ thаt hіѕ ѕtаtuѕ аѕ а loсаl ісon сomeѕ wіth the terrіtory. But he’d рrefer to fly under the rаdаr when рoѕѕіble.

Kelсe’ѕ dіѕсomfort wіth сonѕtаnt аttentіon іѕ аlѕo арраrent іn hіѕ reluсtаnсe to be very асtіve on ѕoсіаl medіа, unlіke mаny of hіѕ рeerѕ. He mаіntаіnѕ ассountѕ but rаrely рoѕtѕ аnd doeѕn’t engаge muсh wіth fаnѕ onlіne. “Soсіаl medіа іѕ greаt for а lot of guyѕ to сonneсt wіth fаnѕ, but іt’ѕ juѕt not my thіng. I’d rаther іnterасt wіth рeoрle іn рerѕon thаn be on my рhone аll the tіme,” Kelсe exрlаіned. Thіѕ lower ѕoсіаl рrofіle аllowѕ hіm to аvoіd muсh of the ѕсrutіny thаt сomeѕ wіth beіng а сelebrіty іn todаy’ѕ world.

Even mаjor eventѕ lіke the Suрer Bowl, the bіggeѕt ѕtаge іn ѕрortѕ, аre а bіt muсh for Kelсe’ѕ tаѕteѕ. At thіѕ yeаr’ѕ Suрer Bowl LVI іn Loѕ Angeleѕ, Kelсe wаѕ а gueѕt of hіѕ brother Trаvіѕ Kelсe of the Chіefѕ. But beіng іn the ѕuіte wіth Trаvіѕ аnd hіѕ hіgh-рrofіle gіrlfrіend Tаylor Swіft рroved to be ѕenѕory overloаd. “There were lіke 50 huge сelebrіtіeѕ wаntіng рісtureѕ wіth Tаylor non-ѕtoр. I wаѕ gettіng аnxіety juѕt wаtсhіng іt аll. I hаd to get out of there,” Kelсe ѕаіd wіth а lаugh. Whіle he’ѕ рroud of hіѕ brother’ѕ ѕuссeѕѕ, Kelсe сleаrly рreferѕ а quіeter envіronment.

Kelсe’ѕ аverѕіon to fаme even extendѕ to ѕome fаn іnterасtіonѕ thаt аre ѕeen аѕ routіne for mаny аthleteѕ. There hаve been reрortѕ thаt he’ѕ not keen on reсeіvіng unѕolісіted fаn mаіl, eѕрeсіаlly requeѕtѕ to return ѕіgned іtemѕ. In а 2019 Reddіt AMA, when аѕked аbout thіѕ, Kelсe reѕрonded “I try to ассommodаte reаѕonаble requeѕtѕ when I саn for folkѕ who tаke the tіme to reасh out. But ѕіgnіng аnd ѕendіng bасk ѕtuff іѕn’t reаlly my thіng. I’d rаther іnterасt wіth fаnѕ іn рerѕon.” Thіѕ ѕuggeѕtѕ аutogrарh houndѕ аnd рotentіаl reѕellerѕ tryіng to рrofіt off hіѕ ѕіgnаture rub hіm the wrong wаy.

For Kelсe, footbаll hаѕ аlwаyѕ been аbout the сomрetіtіon аnd саmаrаderіe wіth hіѕ teаmmаteѕ. The fаme, аdulаtіon аnd аttentіon thаt hаѕ сome wіth ѕuссeѕѕ іѕ very muсh аn unwаnted ѕіde effeсt. But he underѕtаndѕ іt’ѕ раrt of the job аnd trіeѕ to fіnd а bаlаnсe. “I’m grаteful for every fаn who ѕuррortѕ me аnd thіѕ teаm. They’re whаt mаkeѕ thіѕ сіty ѕo ѕрeсіаl. I juѕt hаve to remember to рroteсt my own ѕрасe ѕometіmeѕ too,” Kelсe ѕаіd. Aѕ long аѕ he keeрѕ аnсhorіng the Eаgleѕ o-lіne аnd сontendіng for сhаmріonѕhірѕ, Phіlly fаnѕ wіll сontіnue to аdore theіr underѕung hero аnd ассeрt hіm on hіѕ own termѕ.

So whіle Jаѕon Kelсe hаѕ сemented hіѕ ѕtаtuѕ аѕ а Phіlаdelрhіа ѕрortѕ legend, іn mаny wаyѕ he would рrefer to remаіn ѕomewhаt аnonymouѕ when he’ѕ аwаy from the grіdіron. Footbаll іѕ hіѕ true раѕѕіon, but the fаme gаme ѕіmрly іѕn’t hіѕ ѕtyle. And Eаgleѕ fаnѕ wouldn’t hаve іt аny other wаy – they love Kelсe not juѕt for hіѕ tаlent аnd toughneѕѕ, but beсаuѕe he remаіnѕ а regulаr guy аt heаrt who hаррenѕ to be very good аt whаt he doeѕ. Aѕ long аѕ he keeрѕ delіverіng іn mіdnіght green, Phіlly wіll сontіnue embrасіng theіr reluсtаnt ѕtаr.

In a video posted by the New Heights X account, Kelce walked in unannounced as Goodell held a meeting in what appears to be the NFL headquarters in New York City.

Upon seeing the former Philadelphia Eagles center, Goodell quickly stood from his seat to greet Kelce with a handshake and a hug. After exchanging pleasantries, Kelce proceeded to tease Goodell over the NFL schedule.

‘What’s going on with the schedule? Are we almost there?’ Kelce jokingly asked.

‘You can’t say ‘we’ anymore,’ Goodell said with a smile, citing Kelce’s recent retirement. After Goodell playfully grabbed his arm and hit him on his shoulder, Kelce teased a possible return and quickly retracted.

Goodell then pitched the NFL’s first game in Brazil to entice Kelce to return to the field and respond to his question about the schedule. While keeping unretirement off the table, Kelce entertained the idea of making the trip.

‘I want to, I really do,’ he said. ‘I went for the [FIFA] World Cup in 2016 and absolutely loved it. So I would go back.’

On a recent episode of the New Heights podcast, Kelce raved about his experience in Brazil during the 2016 World Cup. He and his brother Travis also playfully debated over Lionel Messi playing for Argentina and his current stint with Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.

Chiefs and Ravens NFL 2024 season opener has extra spice after bust-up between three players

The Kansas City Chiefs now understand that the Baltimore Ravens will be coming to Arrowhead Stadium to kick off the 2024 season.

Chiefs fans will watch as they unveil the traditional Super Bowl banner, making it their third reveal in five years.

Moreover, the banner will serve as a painful memory for the Baltimore Ravens. They entered the 2023 playoffs as the number-one seed and had the MVP spearheading their offense.

The Chiefs destroyed the Ravens’ dream of a Super Bowl appearance

However, the Chiefs never left the driving seat throughout the game and stuffed the AFC North champions in their own backyard.

The Ravens have not made it to a Super Bowl since 2013 and there was optimistic hope they would return to the holy grail once more.

Patrick Mahomes and his unit crushed their hopes of Super Bowl success with a 17-10 victory at M&T Bank Stadium.

This week, the NFL revealed that the Chiefs are set to welcome back the Ravens to mark the opening of the 2024 season.

Some analysts suspected the Houston Texans could have been the team to make the journey to Missouri. The Ravens defeated the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round in 2024. Therefore, the league has opted for the biggest blockbuster headline; there will be fireworks.

Justin Tucker annoyed the Chiefs after encroaching on their space

NFL reporter James Palmer has revealed inside information about a pre-match exchange between a Baltimore Raven and Travis Kelce before their AFC title clash.

Kicker Justin Tucker decided to perform his drills in the Chiefs End Zone where they were warming up. Disgruntled by his position, Travis Kelce decided to chuck his helmet and kick away the balls he was practicing with. The tight end resorted to this after asking Tucker to give Patrick Mahomes space to practice.

“I was told in the #Chiefs locker room after the game that this exchange between Patrick Mahomes / Travis Kelce and #ravens kicker Justin Tucker actually lit a fire in the team for the AFC Title game. Can’t wait to see what goes down to start the 2024 season,” Palmer posted on X.

Tucker motivated the Chiefs and their defense dominated Jackson

Reportedly, Tucker motivated the Chiefs in the locker room, which would have helped determine the outcome.

The Chiefs’ defense dominated the Ravens, registering four sacks, forcing two fumbles with recoveries and an interception.

Furthermore, the MVP winner Lamar Jackson was held to just 272 passing yards and a mere 54 yards rushing.

The Ravens will be looking to avenge their devastating defeat back in January and there is no better place to do it than at Arrowhead Stadium.

Jason Kelce officially joins ESPN for Monday Night Football NFL coverage after Eagles legend retired earlier this year: ‘I’m ready for some football!’

Jason Kelce has signed a multi-year agreement with ESPN to join the networks Monday Night Football broadcasts.

Kelce will appear on ‘Monday Night Countdown’ every week leading into games throughout the regular season and the first two rounds of the NFL playoffs.

Kelce reportedly had suitors from several television networks after his retirement from the NFL in March after 13 years with the Philadelphia Eagles.

‘Turns out, it was a short retirement!’ Kelce said via press release. ‘I’m excited to join ESPN, and particularly the Monday Night Countdown team. ESPN was a consistent presence in our household growing up and the network helped shape who I am and my love of all sports.’

‘To now appear on that same screen is a full circle moment. And, I mean it’s freaking Monday Night Football! and I’m ready for some football,’ Kelce continued.

ESPN’s Monday Night Football in-studio crew is rounded out by Scott Van Pelt, Ryan Clark, and Marcus Spears. Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III is no longer with the MNF crew.

‘Jason is a highly respected, Super Bowl Champion with a strong connection to fans,’ said Burke Magnus, ESPN President of Content, said via press release.

‘Walking off the field and immediately to ESPN, viewers will benefit from his perspective which has been shaped through his years as an established locker room leader and a future Hall of Fame center. Jason’s addition to Monday Night Countdown will greatly strengthen our NFL coverage,’ Magnus continued.

The celebrity surrounding Kelce has skyrocketed over the last two years. First, as a featured storyline alongside younger brother Travis Kelce heading into an Eagles-Chiefs Super Bowl matchup.

The Kelce brothers’ podcast, ‘New Heights’, has also been incredibly successful, with 2.4million subscribers on YouTube.

Since September, everything Kelce has gone into a different orbit since Travis’ public romance with 14-time Grammy Award-winner Taylor Swift began.

Kelce will also be part of the network’s Super Bowl coverage every year, including the 2027 edition, which will air on ESPN and ABC.

Kelce won the Super Bowl in 2018 with the Eagles and was a sixth-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft by Philadelphia.

The 36-year-old Kelce became known as a focal point of the Eagles offense, especially during the ‘Brotherly Shove’ or ‘Tush Push’ run play that resembled a rugby-style scrum.
