The living legend & Basketball Sensation – Michael Jordan Success Story

    Michael Jordan Success Story

When you ask any NBA fan or a person who loves basketball about their favorite player, mostly one name will frequently be taken, i.e. Michael Jordan. The icon is recognized by the association and the fans as the greatest basketball player of all time. He is a living legend in the world of basketball. Even after being rejected for his height, he continued to fight for his dream.

During his childhood, Michael had a very close relationship with his father, as both of them had a mutual love for sports. They played baseball together, however, basketball had a special place in Michael’s hearts, and he followed the footsteps of his elder brother, Larry, to accomplish his dream.

Ever since Michael has been competitive in the field. He never quit anything and was addicted to winning. He didn’t like the idea of losing. Subsequently, he took it on his heart when he couldn’t qualify for his high school’s varsity team.

In his sophomore year at Emsley A. Laney High School, Michael tried out for an open position in the basketball varsity team. However, he didn’t have the required height and skill that could let him in. As a result, he couldn’t qualify for the position that year. Instead, the team took someone taller and bigger and it broke his confidence as he thought of himself as a less competent player.

Since then, Michael started going to school earlier than everyone and spent his mornings practicing alone, shooting hoops in the gym. His desire to be the best player made him unstoppable. He became so passionate about his dream that his physical education teachers had to drag him out of the gym when the first-period bell rang.

After being rejected once, he again tried his luck when another spot opened for the basketball varsity team, and because of his determination, he was accepted as a team member. However, it turned into disappointment when he realized that he was barely allowed to play in the interschool games. He was mostly on the bench, handing out water and towels to the tired players.

In 1983, Jordan was selected by consensus to the NCAA All-American First Team in both his sophomore (1983) and junior (1984) seasons. During his playing career, he proved himself by becoming an exceptionally talented shooter and passer, and a tenacious defender. Soon, he was listed among the 50 greatest players of all time by the NBA, and in 2009 he was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Michael has missed nearly 9,000 shots in his profession, he has flopped many times, but he says that just because of these failures, he learned to succeed. His prosperity mantra in life was to acknowledge disappointments, but leaving something without attempting was never in his dictionary.

“I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.”- Michael Jordan

Meѕѕi enrіches Mіchael Jordаn by joіnіng PSG

Lionel Messi’s move to PSG not only has a football impact but also a commercial one. And this will be good news for NBA legend Michael Jordan.

The former Chicago Bulls star’s fortune has been significantly affected during the Covid-19 pandemic. Forbes magazine points out that Jordan lost about 24% of his net worth during the pandemic, with his net worth falling from $2.1 billion to $1.6 billion. But Messi’s arrival at PSG could allow him to regain some of the money he lost.

Messi is one of the most famous athletes around the world and fans always crave to own one of his shirts. Meanwhile, PSG’s jersey carries Nike’s Jordan sub-brand.

The Jordan brand has been the product of PSG’s kits since the 2019/20 season, and Michael Jordan receives 5% of the profits for each shirt sold.

After Messi joined, it is expected that about 2.5 million of his jerseys will be sold this season. This will help Jordan earn a decent amount of money.

So far, PSG has earned about 120 million euros since Messi’s shirts were sold. According to statistics, Jordan earned 6 million euros in just one weekend. In the coming time, this number will continue to increase.

Messi was introduced with the iconic song of the Chicago Bulls

PSG introduced new recruits in the summer of 2021 including Messi, Achraf Hakimi, Georginio Wijnaldum, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Sergio Ramos with the iconic theme song of Chicago Bulls, the basketball club that Jordan played for. That is the song “Sirius” by the group Alan Parsons Project.

  • Chісаgo Bullѕ: Toр 10 Greаteѕt Dunkѕ іn Teаm Hіѕtory

Chісаgo Bullѕ: Toр 10 Greаteѕt Dunkѕ іn Teаm Hіѕtory

I know you’re probably thinking, this could be 10 dunks by His Airness, Michael Jordan, but that would be too simple.  I decided I would give some of the past and present Bulls some real estate in this top 10.

I started off just going from memory and I came up with quite a few, but as I scoured YouTube there were some I’d forgotten about and a few I had never seen.  Some of the dunks that didn’t make the cut were Derrick Rose’s alley-oop jam this year against the Detroit Pistons.

It was an awesome one-handed finish, that really showed Rose’s explosive hops but in the end it was a regular season game, it wasn’t in any-ones grill so, I left it out.

Filed under the “I had forgotten about this one” tab was a Scottie Pippen flush on Charles Barkley from his 76ers days that was downright nasty.  What almost got this one included was Barkley’s reaction afterward.  He was clearly embarrassed.

The day for Sir Charles would get worse as he was posterized by MJ and Horace Grant in the same game.  Since there were two notable slams in this game, I left them out.

With so much bulb flashing history, I’m sure to miss one of your favorites, feel free to point the ones you love out and even link the YouTube vid, if you can find it.  Here is my top 10.

Có một Chicago Bulls thu nhỏ xuất hiện trong thế giới truyện tranh: Chuyện có thật trong bộ manga Slam Dunk nổi tiếng

    10. MJ Slams on Former Teammate Orlando Woolridge

This was a vicious slam on a former teammate, Michael Jordan took over Chicago when he arrived. Woolridge was the man in Chicago for about half of season with Quintin Dailey in the 1983-84 season.

Woolridge is one of the Bulls most underrated players in history.  He teamed with Michael for two seasons before being shipped off to New Jersey for the 1986-87 season.

The look on Woolridge’s face as he staggers away almost says “Damn, he got me, I might have to hear about this one.”

    9. Michael Jordan Finds Orlando Woolridge for the Facial on Alton Lister

Last slide was MJ victimizing Woolridge, this time  he feeds him as O hangs and readjusts in the air to deposit a two-hand flush in the face of Alton Lister.  Lister may be in more posters than any other player in history.

    8. Derrick Rose on the Break in Phoenix, Poor Mr. Dragic

The dunking coronation for Chicago’s favorite son came on the road against the Phoenix Suns.  The follow through, the height, the reaction afterward was just priceless.

Goran Dragic take a picture…you are in a poster.

    7. Michael Screams on Alonzo Mourning

This was great for three reasons.  First, it’s on a notoriously great shot-blocker.  Secondly, this guy (Mourning) played with attitude and pride.  Last, it is one of the rare times you see Mike taunt someone.

What is even cooler, NBA2K11has this same animation when you play with MJ with the classic Bulls teams.

    6. Scottie Pippen Enlightens Charles Smith

This is an underrated slam, Scottie went in fearless, knew he’d get hammered but still flushed it clean on Charles Smith.  As you may remember, the Bulls made a habit out of embarrassing Smith.

You may recall the block party on him in the Eastern Conference Playoffs in 1993.  Put this one right behind that glorious Bulls memory.

    5. Michael Cradle Slam at the Mecca

Still to this day, one of the greatest break away slams I’ve ever seen.  Imagine being the guy trailing the play and you see where he takes off from and the floating in the air.

Over 20 years later it’s amazing how spectacular some of MJ’s highlights still are.  This is vintage young Mike.

    4. Derrick Rose over and by Joel Anthony

The Bulls lost this game and Rose struggled as he did in just about every game of the series, but this was like the one really good shot you got in on the bully that pummeled you.  The height, strength and hang time Rose displays on this flush is crazy.

If the dunk meant more, it probably would’ve been higher on the list.

    3. Taj Gibson Minimizes Dwyane Wade

This dunk was on YouTube almost as soon as Dwyane Wade back pedaled out of bounds.  Has a more vicious and memorable slam ever been put by a role player on a superstar?

I’m not sure, but I know that if Taj Gibson never scores another bucket, he will have a place in the annals of legendary postseason dunk history.

    2. Scottie Pippen, Patrick Ewing…Enough Said

Boy, it was hard not making this No. 1.  The fact that the Bulls lost this series and that was Pete Myers delivering the pass to Pippen and not MJ diminishes it for a bit for me.

Still, there is no doubt, there has never been a more vicious, swag level 1,000 slam delivered in a game situation.  If ever there was a dunk that the taunting technical that followed was well worth it, this was it.

    1. Michael Jordans Most Legendary Slam vs the Knicks

It’s only right to close it out with The G.O.A.T, and possibly his most classic slam.  The baseline move is as spectacular as the actual dunk.

The fact that it took place in the Garden, against the Knicks, in the playoffs, in a winning effort on Ewing, makes it the best dunk in Bulls history.

‘I’m back.’ Everything you need to know about Michael Jordan’s 1995 return to the Chicago Bulls — and the famous 2-word fax that preceded it.

When Michael Jordan had a message to deliver to the world, he used what was, at the time, the best and fastest medium at his disposal: a fax machine.

Twenty-five years ago, Jordan sent perhaps the most famous fax of all time, a two-word statement that became iconic for its simplicity. All at once, the message served as a declaration to the basketball world and forever changed the Bulls and NBA.

Sunday’s episodes of ESPN’s 10-part documentary “The Last Dance” dived into Jordan’s first retirement from pro basketball, his nearly 18-month sabbatical to pursue a baseball career and his dramatic comeback — kicked off with a two word faxed announcement that read simply, “I’m back.”

As Melissa Isaacson wrote at the time for the Tribune: “The words did not have to be eloquent or poetic. They did not even have to be spoken, and weren’t.”

Rumors had been swirling for weeks in March 1995 that Jordan was going to return to basketball, a process that started when he practiced with the Bulls earlier that month. Yes, Jordan had covered his bases during his retirement ceremony in October 1993 — “Never say never,” he said when asked if he would play basketball again — but the idea of him coming back was far from a certainty.

Here are a few things to know about Jordan’s famous fax and the events leading up to his return:

With fans reaching for a touch, the Bulls' Michael Jordan...

    1. Michael Jordan crafted the famous fax himself.

If Jordan played basketball today, he would have been able to send a message to the masses via social media. Sending “I’m back” as a tweet would have been a banger that broke the internet.

But in 1995, the fax machine was the fastest way to get the message out. David Falk, Jordan’s agent, prepared a few versions of the press release announcing the comeback, knowing he had to nail it.

“He didn’t like the feel of them,” Falk told ESPN in 2015. “He said, ‘I’ll do it myself.’ “

    Here’s how the fax read:

WASHINGTON, DC. (March 18, 1995) — The following statement was released today by Michael Jordan, through his personal attorney and business manager David B. Falk, Chairman of Falk Associates Management Enterprises, Inc. (“FAME”) located in Washington, D.C., in response to questions about his future career plans:

    “I’m back.”

    2. Jordan delivered his message and suited up the next day.

Jordan left the sport at the prime of his career — winner of three straight NBA championships, named the Most Valuable Player in each of those three finals, seven consecutive scoring titles, seven All-NBA first teams and six All-Defensive teams — and he was only 32 when he rejoined the Bulls for his second act.

In a two-word fax, “I’m back,” Michael Jordan announces his return to the Bulls as reported in the March 19, 1995, edition of the Chicago Tribune.
It was a Saturday when Jordan sent word he was coming back to the court — the next day. He returned for a nationally televised Sunday game against the Pacers in Indianapolis, keeping the No. 45 he wore in baseball.

It sent the Pacers media relations staff into a frenzy, as outlined by Sam Smith, who covered the comeback for the Tribune at the time. The Pacers PR chief needed security guards to walk with him on the floor after he had to deny angry media members’ credential requests. Scalpers sold tickets for more than $1,000.

This was Jordan’s first NBA game since June 1993. He spent his time in between playing 127 games with the Double-A Birmingham Barons and hitting .202 — and yet there was no easing him back into action.

Jordan played 43 minutes in his return, and he can be forgiven for a poor shooting effort (7-for-28) while putting up 19 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals. He played the final 17 games of that season, averaging 26.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.3 assists.

    3. The sports world needed some good news.

Jordan was already the most famous athlete in the world at the time, so his return was a lift for the entire sports world. Major League Baseball was in the midst of the longest strike in its history, one that had led to the cancellation of the 1994 World Series and would continue until April. O.J. Simpson, arguably the biggest football star in the world, was on trial for murder.

So the excitement for Jordan’s return was high, and it sparked reaction from more than just sports figures. The Tribune’s report included quotes from Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley and a statement from President Bill Clinton’s spokesman.

    4. The Bulls were struggling at the time.

The Bulls were not in a good spot in their second season after Jordan’s first retirement.

In 1993-94, they absorbed Jordan’s absence to win 55 games and advance to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals before the Knicks eliminated them. But the Bulls struggled to start the 1994-95 season, and Jordan returned to a team just three games above .500.

Most of his old teammates from the first three-peat had moved on. Scottie Pippen and B.J. Armstrong remained, but other mainstays such as Horace Grant, John Paxson and Bill Cartwright were gone.

Pippen famously wore a pair of Air Jordan 10s one day while rumors swirled about Jordan’s comeback and held them up for the camera, waving his finger. The Bulls had almost traded Pippen to the SuperSonics in 1994 for Shawn Kemp; Jordan told ESPN in 2008 that if Pippen had not still been with the Bulls, he would have “probably not” returned to the team.

With Jordan, the Bulls were instantly transformed into a title contender. They had 40-1 odds to win the NBA championship before Jordan returned and 5-1 after. They wound up losing to the Magic in six games in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

“I’ve got three words,” Bulls teammate Will Perdue said at the time of Jordan’s return. “Thank you, baseball.”

NBA legend Michael Jordan had a love/addiction for gambling that was so crazy, he would even place big money on rock, paper, scissors.

Jay Williams, a former Chicago Bulls teammate of Jordan’s before a motorcycle accident ended his career prematurely, told a story of how ‘MJ’ went up to $100,000 on the classic childhood game.

Jordan loved trips to the casino and also enjoyed betting on golf games he was playing in. Put simply, he would bet on absolutely anything without any hesitation.

“Think about gambling to the next degree. Rock, paper, scissors — you bet $20,000 all day long. Why wouldn’t you? You get bored,” Williams revealed on The Brilliant Idiots podcast in 2015.

“And don’t get yourself down in the dice game. Don’t be in the corner and let some dude keep fading you out and all of a sudden you’re down $100,000 and he’s like, ‘Yo, bet it back — rock, paper, scissors for $100,000.”

Normally one would play rock, paper, scissors for a bit of a fun or to decide an outcome but with Jordan there was always money involved.

Another gem of a Jordan gambling story from ESPN recalls the time Jordan bet his teammates that his luggage would arrive first at the airport. Image: PAImage: PA

The Bulls were in Portland waiting for their bags on the conveyor belt. He managed to get nine teammates to participate in the wager, and lo and behold, his belongings were first on the scene.

However, without his teammates knowing, Jordan had actually fixed it. He bribed staff at the airport so that his bags would arrive first and ended up making a few hundred bucks.Although he liked earning a pretty penny, Jordan was a tad particular about appearances and deals even if was easy money.
