Losing your car keys or office ID badge is one thing. Jason Kelce took it several steps further by losing his Super Bowl ring.

The Shaker Heights native and University of Cincinnati graduate revealed on the April 17 edition of his “New Heights” podcast that he lost his the Super Bowl ring he earned when the Philadelphia Eagles won the NFL title in 2018.

What happened to Jason Kelce’s Super Bowl ring?

Kelce said he misplaced his ring in a pool of Cincinnati’s famous Skyline Chili when he was in the Queen City taping a “New Heights” episode at UC.

And it might be gone forever.

Kelce filed a report with the University of Cincinnati police. It described the ring as lost property rather than stolen. Kelce’s ring was estimated to be worth $100,000, according to Cincinnati Enquirer reporting.

Molly Yeager, corporate communications manager at Rumpke Waste & Recycling, which services the UC campus, told the Enquirer that finding such a small item at its Colerain Township landfill would be “very unlikely.”

Believe it or not, Kelce isn’t the first athlete to misplace (ahem, lose) a championship ring.

David Mulugheta, the agent for Coleman’s teammate Earl Thomas, found the Tiffany and Co. box that housed the ring in the exact same car. Mulugheta’s wife thought she had a special gift from her husband until she opened the box and saw a Super Bowl ring inside.

From there, Mulugheta passed the ring to Thomas, who then returned it to Coleman.

The wooden replica of the Linc was made by designer, Dana Theobald, a Savannah, Georgia, based artist and woodworker. According to her website, she focuses on how the beauty of sports and architecture unites people across the globe. Each stadium she designs is made up of mini wood pieces.
