Jason Kelce Delights With Many Taylor Swift References During Retirement Speech

Jason Kelce sadly confirmed he won’t be returning to the field with the Philadelphia Eagles, but during his retirement speech, he snuck in a few hopeful nods to Taylor Swift.

During the press conference on Monday, March 4, the former center fondly recalled some of his most significant memories as on the team–some of which included competing against his younger brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and even losing Super Bowl LVII to the Chiefs

“It’s only too poetic I found my career being fulfilled in the city of brotherly love, I knew that relationship all too well,” he shared, seemingly making nods to the 14-time Grammy winner’s upcoming album–The Tortured Poets Department–her one-off concert in Paris and 2020 TV movie special, The City of Lover, and of course, her hit “All Too Well” from her 2012 album Red.

    But he didn’t end there.

The 36-year-old father of three later added another Swift-coded message. “If you go above and beyond in this city, you will be rewarded beyond your wildest dreams,” he said, seemingly referencing the international pop superstar’s 2014 hit off the album 1989.

The speech, which was also broadcast on YouTube, quickly garnered the attention of Swifties, who began calling out for the pop star in the live chat.

As for what’s next for Kelce, after 13 years playing for the same team–potentially another nod to Swift, as it is her favorite number, but that could be coincidental–he appeared excited to spend more time with his family, which includes wife Kylie and daughters Wyatt, 4, Elliotte, 2, and Bennett, 1.

“Sometimes the flowers get knocked back a bit, but the roots remain and I can’t wait to watch for the blossoms this next season,” Kelce sobbed.

Travis, Jason Kelce joke about Taylor Swift meeting their dad; Chiefs star denies security guard push

Travis and Jason Kelce talked about their father meeting Taylor Swift and the two being spotted during the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos game talking to each other in the suite.

Swift and Ed Kelce were at the game talking to each other. It appeared to be the first time the two were spotted on camera interacting in any way as Swift and Donna Kelce have been the two who have mostly been in the spotlight.

“Taylor talking to dad. You know dad, like I know dad,” Travis Kelce said on the latest episode of the “New Heights” podcast that dropped on Wednesday.

Jason Kelce responded that there was no way their dad should be talking to someone like Swift as they both laughed about the moment.

“This is a terrifying conversation. I felt terrible for Taylor for being in this,” Travis said.

Jason replied, “If you see dad talking to anybody and you can’t hear what’s happening, who knows where that conversation is going.”

Travis said he didn’t want to pick on their dad too much.

“We can’t keep kicking dad just because we enjoy doing it,” he said. “Our dad is the best f—ing dad in the world. He is a great converser or conversator (sic). However you wanna put it. It’s where Jason gets his storytelling, a lot of his charisma. We’re saying this because we like to rag on the big guy.” Taylor Swift talks to Papa Kelce

Jason continued, “It was nice because mom has been getting quite a bit of the spotlight. It was cool to see dad up there on the TV for a little bit.”

Travis Kelce also responded to the notion he pushed one of Swift’s security guards out of the way. Swift fans appeared to love the idea that Kelce was taking charge to protect their queen, but the superstar tight end denied he was pushing anyone out of the way.

“Pushing them out of the way?… I didn’t push him. I placed my hand on the gentleman’s back to let him know I was behind him. If I pushed him, he probably would’ve turned to Taze me,” he said.

“’Good sir, could you excuse me, I need to get the door, sorry. Thank you. I’m right behind you. Don’t want to startle you. I know it’s your job to keep crazy people away and if you just get randomly pushed in the back while standing in front of a door, that could probably be a little alarming.’

“I didn’t one time get security to say anything about it. I’ll you what, they’re great. They’re good people.”

Jason Kelce has something to say about the media storm surrounding his brother Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.

The Eagles star, 35, made another appearance on Audacy’s SportsRadio 94 WIP Wednesday, three days after the superstar singer watched the Kansas City Chiefs tight end play at Arrowhead Stadium and went to Travis’ after-party.

Jason was asked about Swift and Travis’ big night out, and said he’s enjoying seeing the reaction.

“It ended up she went to the game this week. So it was fun watching the whole world take it in.”

Jason was also asked about the “stir” his joke made a week earlier, when he said on the same radio show that his brother and Swift were “100%” dating.

“My reaction was exactly, this is exactly what I think is gonna happen. She’s gonna go to the game, and the whole world’s gonna lose their goddamn mind,” Jason said of his joke taking off. “That’s exactly what I thought was gonna happen… 7:30 in the morning, I’m happy that WIP [the radio show] got the [publicity] for it, but I was just trying to be sarcastic.”

Jason had been asked about the rumors surrounding Travis and Swift ahead of the game.

“It’s hard to answer because I don’t really know a lot about Travis’ love life,” Jason told the radio hosts last week. “I try to keep his business kind of his business, stay out of that world.” But, he added, “having said that, man, I think they’re doing great and I think it’s all 100% true, and I hope this thing goes a mile — no, I’m joking, I don’t know what’s happening.”

The brothers got together this week, two days after the game, to talk about Swift’s appearance on a new episode of their weekly podcast New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce Presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment. Travis said, “I’m enjoying life and I sure as hell enjoyed this weekend.”

“Shout out to Taylor for pulling up. That was pretty ballsy,” Travis, 33, said as he talked to Jason about how he felt about the singer sitting in his suite during the “exciting game.”

On Swift watching the game with his mom, Donna Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs star said, “To see the slow motion chest bumps, to see the high fives with mom, to see how, you know, Chiefs kingdom was all excited that she was there — that s— was absolutely hysterical and it was definitely a game I’ll remember, that’s for damn sure.”

While the “Karma” singer’s attendance at Sunday’s game drew lots of attention to their rumored relationship, a source told PEOPLE the pair are still in the “super, super early days” of getting to know one another.

“They’re having fun,” added the insider, noting that Swift and Kelce had met prior to her attendance at the game. “This was Taylor’s first time meeting his mom and dad, and everyone was enjoying themselves. She was super chill and low-key hanging out with his friends and family.”

As for where things go next? “They’re just hanging out, and there’s no pressure,” said the source.

Travis and Jason Kelce reveal how many NFL players believe in flat Earth conspiracy theory

Travis and Jason Kelce made interesting comments about the beliefs of some players in NFL locker rooms on the latest episode of their “New Heights” podcast earlier this week.

The Kelce brothers had Andrew Santino, one of the stars on “Dave” and the co-host of the “Bad Friends” podcast with Bobby Lee, on their show. Travis Kelce brought up how “conspiracy theories help bring NFL locker rooms together” as he prefaced a question about them to Santino.

The comedian then asked how many NFL players believe in “flat Earth.” The Kansas City Chiefs star and the retired Philadelphia Eagles great both jumped at the chance to answer.

“Dude, honestly, there at least 10 guys, 10 to 15 guys in every locker room I would imagine,” Travis said.

“You would be shocked,” Jason added. “If you took an anonymous poll, like nobody had to disclose their name or anything or anything like that, you’re over 15% of an NFL locker room … maybe over 20.”

Santino appeared to be stunned by the suggestion.

“Dude, everyone gets hit in the head,” Travis said. “It’s unbelievable.”

Santino went on to joke about the “NFL is rigged” theory, which was brought up toward the end of the 2022 season on Barstool Sports’ “Macrodosing” podcast.

The bit took over social media, and the NFL even included a “script read” to start the 2023 season. However, the NFL may need to hire new writers as the Chiefs were Super Bowl champions in dramatic fashion for the second straight season. This time, it was against the San Francisco 49ers.

The brothers’ sweet ‘Fairytale of Philadelphia’ song received a warm holiday welcome from fans.

Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce are kicking off the holiday season with something to celebrate. The brothers and NFL pros recently made it to the top of the iTunes chart with their Christmas song, “Fairytale of Philadelphia,” thanks to the help of Taylor Swift’s legion of Swifties.

“We are officially rock stars,” Jason quipped during Wednesday’s episode of the siblings’ New Heights podcast.

“We owe a big thanks to one group in particular, besides the 92 percenters,” Jason said, referencing the nickname of their New Heights fanbase. “And that’s the Swifties.”

Travis echoed the sentiment, adding, “One thousand percent.”

Jason said that he unintentionally called Swift’s followers into action when he first tweeted about the song hitting No. 8 on the chart.

“I got like 85 tweets from Swifties across the world being like, ‘You think eight is good? We’re taking this to No. 1,” he explained, laughing. “It’s a powerful group of people.”

Travis also offered up his gratitude to the “Karma” singer.

“Thanks, Taylor, appreciate you,” he said. “And thank you to the Swifties. Thank you.”

The sweet track — off the Philadelphia Eagles’ A Philly Special Christmas Special album — is a remake of “Fairytale of New York” from Celtic punk band The Pogues’ 1987 tale of an Irish immigrant spending Christmas Eve sleeping off a bender in the drunk tank. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the track was worked on and recorded before the Travis-Taylor dating rumors began. The outlet reports the album’s producers headed to Kansas City in August to record with Travis.

The remake features lyrics rewritten by Travis — a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs — and Jason — a center for the Philadelphia Eagles — who tell the “tale of two brothers whose love for each other withstands the test of time.”

On an earlier episode of New Heights, Travis joked that he was looking forward to receiving a heaping helping of vicious comments about his singing skills from listeners. But he was surprised this week to hear what the fans were actually saying.

“We asked to keep the comments on the YouTube in the comments video so we could see what you guys are saying, and you guys did not disappoint,” Jason said, quoting one fan as saying, “I know Travis was expecting a roasting in the comments, but trust me when I say this is anything but buns.”

Some fans suggested that Travis was “giving Disney Prince vibes,” while one noted that “somebody’s been taking singing lessons.”

“You guys are too kind,” Travis replied, with Jason adding: “I think it’s a good song!”

Travis cracked, “It is a good song if you’re into that kind of s**t.”

The team’s full album is available to pre-order on vinyl, with proceeds set to be donated to various Philadelphia charities including the Children’s Crisis Treatment Center and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

“We’re just trying to make people’s holidays a little bit brighter, a little bit more joyful,” Jason said. “We’re having fun so far.”

Kelce played 13 seasons in the NFL, all for the Eagles, winning a Super Bowl ring in 2018.

He is regarded as one of the best centers to ever play the game and openly wept as he broke the news with friends and family watching on.

Kylie and Jason married in April 2018 and share three children.

The 31-year-old has now revealed Jason began writing parts of his farewell speech over four years ago.

“I’ve heard multiple versions over the last four years,” Kylie said in an interview with Philadelphia-based NCL affiliate WCAU.

“This was a completely different version. I think every year he sort of started from scratch as to what was sitting on the surface.

“But when he said that he was contemplating retirement for years, he meant for years.”

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Kelce delivered an impassioned speech and honed in on Eagles fans for their enduring support.

“I think I was the only one that had heard his speech before we went into it,” Kylie added.

“I think it was a perfect summary of 13 years. I always say he’s not from [Philadelphia] but he gets it, so that was the perfect example.”

Kylie Kelce Reacts to Jason Kelce’s Tear-Jerking Tribute to Her During Retirement Speech: ‘Cracks Me Up’

Jason Kelce’s wife, Kylie, says her husband’s retirement speech — which included a tribute to her — was heartwarming. And funny, too.

The mother of three told Philadelphia’s NBC10 that she was “the only one that had heard the speech” before Jason delivered it Monday at the Eagles’ training facility in Philly. She thought the emotional speech was “a perfect summary” of his 13 years with the NFL organization.

But amid all the tears and tissues that were needed to wipe them away, Kylie says Jason’s speech elicited some laughter.

“It, of course, made me emotional. It cracks me up that he tries to talk about what he remembers from that night because he was, as I’ve said before, intoxicated,” she said.

Kylie was referring to Jason conjuring up the memory of meeting Kylie for the first time. They met on a dating app and she joined him and his teammates at a Philly-area bar for a team holiday celebration. Jason ended the night passing out at the bar and having to be carried out by some of his fellow Eagles — but not before realizing that he’d met the woman he’d one day marry.

In his retirement speech, Jason praised Kylie as “beautiful, smart, serious, yet playful.” He added, “She has brought the best out of me through love, devotion, support, honesty, intelligence, and of course a swift kick in the a** from time to time.”

“It was very very sweet,” Kylie said of the speech. “Very kind. It was far too much credit.”

Jason had been contemplating retirement for years now, and the proof is in the various retirement speeches he wrote over the years.

“I’ve heard multiple versions over the last four years,” Kylie said. “This was a completely different version. I think every year he’s sort of started from scratch as to what was sitting on the surface. But when he said that he was contemplating retirement for years, he means for years.”

Jason and Kylie tied the knot in April 2018, and have since welcomed three daughters:  Wyatt, 4; Elliotte, turning 3 this month; and Bennett, who just turned 1.

On his and Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast, Jason shared what led to his retirement.

“In previous years, I would reach out to other guys, like, ‘Hey, how do you know when you want to stop playing?’ or ‘What do you think?’” Jason admitted, revealing that it was his body that told him it was time to hang up the cleats. “The reality was, it was more firm than it’s ever been this year that I just don’t think physically I can compete at the level that I want to anymore.” Jason continued, “My elbow and my knees, it’s just gotten to the point where the deterioration and the recovery from that deterioration hasn’t really manifested on game day yet, but I know it’s gonna start doing that. … I’m hard on myself, and if I go out there and I’m not the player that I want to be, it will crush me. So I feel very confident in the decision I’ve made. I know it’s time. I’ve had a really good run, but that’s the biggest reason why.”
