PHILADELPHIA – Jason Kelce stood at his locker and answered about 30 minutes of questions from reporters as the Philadelphia Eagles cleaned out their lockers on Wednesday following Monday night’s season-ending playoff loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Before beginning his interview odyssey, the veteran center said he wouldn’t be taking any retirement questions but would answer anything else anybody had for him.

The cat may have been let out of the bag a bit when it was leaked that Kelce told some teammates that he was going to retire following the defeat in Florida.

The past couple of years, as he flirted with retirement, Kelce said he would probably do something big when he announced that he was done playing the game. Maybe something a little “Mummerish,” perhaps?

Maybe that day will come sooner rather than later.

Right now, though, he has some other things on his mind over the next couple of weeks.

“That’s one of the beauties of the offseason,” he said. “It’s unscheduled. Obviously, my brother (Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis) is still in the playoffs. I don’t get to watch him very often. Maybe I’ll get an opportunity to watch one of those games this week. Pro Bowl is coming up, so got that.”

“I don’t even know what you do at the Pro Bowl anymore,” he said. “It’s down in Orlando, so I get to take my kids and maybe go to Walt Disney World. Not off to the Super Bowl Walt Disney World, but as long as (daughter) Wyatt gets to see Elsa, I don’t think it really matters. We’ll figure all that out.”

Perhaps playing a role in Kelce’s decision to retire will be trying to go out on a better note than the sour one that played out this season. Of course, there are no guarantees the Eagles can give him a second ring if he returns next year when he turns 37 during his 14th season.

He was asked if he knows why now, after trying to do it, it is so difficult for teams who lose the Super Bowl to return the next year, and he said it wasn’t anything he probably didn’t already know.

“It’s hard to go the Super Bowl, whether you went there the year before or not,” he said. “Only two teams out of 32 go. I think there are a lot of reasons. It’s hard to have two teams back-to-back years that are that good collectively.

“Whenever you go to a Super Bowl, everybody’s going to be trying to take people on your staff, take players on your staff, take plays that you’re doing. Everybody’s looking at what you’re doing offensively to have success, so it’s hard to have that repeat success year after year.

“I think there are a lot of things that factor in. There’s luck, a lot of things that go into going to a Super Bowl. I don’t think I Iearned any of that this past year, I think that’s just kind of how it is.”

Some of the next few days will be spent thinking about how the season ended, an outcome that Kelce called disappointing.

“Whenever you get to this day, you’re having exit meetings, you’re talking about a lot of ideas and things that could have made the outcomes different, improved performances, fixed the offenses,” he said.

“We had a lot of those discussions. And obviously, it’s a very under-performing season for me as a whole. We didn’t live up to the potential that we had. It’s a frustrating close on a probably even more frustrating season.”

Philadelphia Eagles player Jason Kelce has joked that he “cannot comment” on reports that his brother, Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, is dating Taylor Swift – but at least there would be no shortage of conversation between the three if the rumors are true.

Taylor is a long-time fan of NFL team the Philadelphia Eagles, having grown up outside the city as a child before she moved to Nashville as a young teen.

Jason was a sixth round pick for the Eagles in the 2011 NFL Draft, and has played for the team ever since. He also helped the team win the 2017 Super Bowl championship.

Speaking on Thursday September 14 after his team beat the Minnesota Vikings, Jason was asked by retired NFL star Tony Gonzalez to address speculation that Travis and Taylor were dating.

“I’ve seen these rumors. I cannot comment,” Jason said, in the video you can watch below, adding: “Ever since Catching Kelce everybody’s been infatuated with Travis’ love life. I don’t really know what’s going on there, but I know Travis is having fun and we’ll see what happens with whoever he ends up with.”

Kylie Kelce, formerly known as Kylie McDevitt, was born and raised in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. She was raised in Narberth, a suburb of Philadelphia, where her parents are from. Kyle was an athlete and played field hockey in high school and college. She attended Cabrini University and majored in communications.

Kylie enjoys philanthropy and has helped raise money for the Eagles Autism Foundation. She has volunteered for the Special Olympics and helps Jason with his Philadelphia nonprofit to improve the lives of youth.

How Did Jason And Kylie Kelce Meet?

Jason and Kylie met on Tinder in 2015. Kylie wasn’t aware that Jason was an athlete because none of his pictures depicted that. On their first date at a sports bar, Jason fell asleep. He called Kylie to apologize the next day and made it up to her on their next date. Jason proposed to her in 2017 outside of her parent’s house, minutes after getting their permission to do so.

They married in Philadelphia on April 14, 2018, two months after Jason won Super Bowl 52 with the Philadelphia Eagles. They have three daughters, Wyatt Elizabeth (2019), Elliotte Ray (2021), and Bennett Llewellyn (2023).

Kylie’s Support of Jason Is Unmatched

Jason and Kylie describe their home life as warm, loving, and a great atmosphere for a family. Kylie has been by Jason’s side at games, practices, and even on the New Heights podcast. She was a major factor in Jason avoiding retirement for another year and playing another season in 2023.

Kylie was 38 weeks pregnant with their third daughter Bennett Llewellyn during Super Bowl 57 and insisted that her doctor travel with her to the game. She was determined to support Jason on his big day, even if that meant giving birth in State Farm Stadium in Arizona.

It appears that Kylie and Jason are perfect for each other and fit Philadelphia like a glove.

It’s Kylie Kelce’s turn to wear a mask!

While sitting on the front row of the live taping of the New Heights podcast in Cincinnati on April 11, Jason Kelce’s wife shielded her face before hilariously hiding behind a mask cutout of her husband as a cameraman moved in for a close-up.

To the delight and cheers of the crowd, Kylie, 32, laughed it off as did her father-in-law, Ed Kelce, who was seated behind her.

“PRINCESS KYANA IN THE BUILDING,” the New Heights podcast posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) alongside a clip of the playful moment.

Donna Kelce was also on hand for the event, which culminated in a surprise commencement ceremony for the brothers, who received their degrees from University of Cincinnait president Dr. Neville Pinto.

Being in the center of attention may not be new for Kylie — but it’s been an adjustment, she has said in the past.

Earlier this month, during an appearance on the Today show, the mother of three shared her perspective on being in the spotlight amid Jason’s recent retirement news — and “Uncle Trav” dating a pop superstar.

“Ultimately, if Travis is happy, we’re happy,” Kylie told hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb. “We are always cheering on Uncle Trav, it’s such a treat to be able to do that on and off the field.”

She added, “But it’s been amazing.”

Later in the interview, Kylie reflected on her husband’s playoff-era hijinks, which included him doffing his shirt during a frigid Chiefs-Bills playoff game in Buffalo, New York.

Kylie’s masked turn at the Ohio taping came days after Jason made a disguised appearance at a WWE Wrestlemania event in Philadelphia.

The retired Philadelphia Eagles center and his former teammate Lane Johnson wore Luchador masks during the match before revealing their identities.

“Isn’t that what’s-her-name’s brother-in-law?” a broadcaster jokingly remarked to Pat McAfee — who then launched into one of the singer’s hits.

Behold, the most inspiring speech delivered in the register of Hulk Hogan, the cadence of Maya Angelou and the headdress of a psychedelic sultan of all time.

At the tail end of Thursday’s Super Bowl block party in Philadelphia, the Eagles organized on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to deliver the ceremonious speeches. From owner Jeffrey Lurie and coach Doug Pederson to quarterbacks Nick Foles and Carson Wentz, all of the pivotal figures from Philly’s first Super Bowl championship gave stirring messages of “We’ll be back!” and “Get used to this!”

Then came Eagles center and Mardi Gras GhenghisJason Kelce. The brother of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, self-expression runs in Jason’s blood. It was on full display on Thursday as the Eagles hype man, dressed in traditional Mummers gear, called out Philly’s critics with receipts in tow and delivered to them a simple message: “F— them!”

On VP of football operations Howie Roseman: “I’m going to take a second to talk to you about underdogs. Howie Roseman, a few years ago, was relinquished of all control pretty much in this organization. He was put in the side of the building where I didn’t see him for over a year. Two years ago, when they made a decision, he came out of there a different man. He came out of there with a purpose and a drive to make this possible. And I saw a different Howie Roseman. An underdog.”

On Doug Pederson and his detractors: “Doug Pederson. When Doug Pederson was hired, he was rated as the worst coaching hire by a lot of freakin’ analysts out there in the media. This past offseason, some clown named Mike Lombardi, told him that he was the least qualified head coach in the NFL. You saw a driven Doug Pederson. A man who went for it on fourth down. A man who went for it on fourth down in the Super Bowl with a trick play. He wasn’t playing just to go mediocre. He was playing for a Super Bowl. And it don’t stop with him. It does not stop with him.”

A former football executive with the Patriots and Browns, Lombardi, now a podcaster at The Ringer, ate crow soon after the speech reached the masses:

Then, in the mold of *8 Mile*’s B-Rabbit, Kelce rattled off every insult directed at his teammates all season.

“Jason Peters was told he was too old. Didn’t have it anymore. Before he got hurt, he was the freakin’ tackle in the NFL,” Kelce mocked. “Stefen Wisniewski ain’t good enough. Jason Kelce is too small. Lane Johnsoncan’t lay off the juice. Brandon Brooks has anxiety. Carson Wentz didn’t go to a Division I school. Nick Foles don’t got it. Corey Clement is too slow. LeGarrette Blount ain’t got it anymore. Jay Ajayi can’t stay healthy. Torrey Smith can’t catch. Nelson Agholor can’t catch. Zach Ertz can’t block. Brent Celek is too old. Brandon Graham was drafted too high. Vinny Curry ain’t got it. Beau Allen can’t fit the scheme. Nigel Bradham can’t catch. Jalen Mills can’t cover. Patrick Robinson can’t cover. It’s the whole team! It’s the whole team!”

Kelce then concluded his magnum opus with a furious interpretation of Philadelphia’s “underdog” moniker.

“This entire organization was a bunch of driven men to accomplish something. We were a bunch of underdogs. And you know what an underdog is? It’s a hungry dog,” Kelce finished. “[Offensive line coach] Jeff Stoutland has had this in our building for five years. It’s a quote in the O-line room that has stood on the wall for the last five years: Hungry dogs run faster. And that’s this team. Bottom line is, we wanted it more.”

Kelce and the Eagles, underdogs no more.
