Jason Kelce told he’s ‘incredibly wrong’ after comments about Louis Rees-Zammit and Wales

Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney has told Jason Kelce he is “incredibly wrong” after the NFL great was forced to apologise for comments he made about Wales.

Kelce, whose brother Travis Kelce will be playing alongside Louis Rees-Zammit at the Kansas City Chiefs from next season, made comments about Welsh culture, saying he thought Wales was “posh” and full of “upper class, beautiful white people”. He claimed the former Wales rugby star was “the running stereotype of what I would think of with a Welsh person”.

Kelce was, however, also excited about Rees-Zammit’s transition from rugby to American football, saying he could become “the most marketable player of all time” in the sport. But it is the comments about Wales which seemed to irk Welsh people on social media.

The former Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl winner had to address the comments on X following a barrage of comments from baffled Welsh people, to which he responded: “Yea, I’ve come to understand, I was very incorrect on this.

“Based on further assessment since these incorrect statements, not sure why I had these preconceptions in my mind, but I have found that the Welsh seem exactly like my kind of people. Happy to be incredibly wrong.”

McElhenney, who owns Wrexham alongside fellow Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds, is a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan and a proud Philly native.

But he has immersed himself in Welsh culture since he took over the soon-to-be League One club and he and Reynolds have earned praise for taking the time to get to know the people and history of Wrexham and Wales as a whole.

As such, McElhenney felt compelled to leap to the defence of the Welsh and responded to Kelce by telling him that his initial comments were wrong and he would be happy to show him around Wales to prove it.

“Yes, incredibly wrong,” McElhenney replied. “I should show you around someday. I might know a few people. See for yourself.”

The Kelce brothers’ endorsement comes after legendary coach Andy Reid spoke publicly about Rees-Zammit for the first time and revealed the Super Bowl champions’ plan for the former Wales star. You can read more about that here.

Putting to rest rumors that she doesn’t have a warm and fuzzy relationship with boyfriend Travis Kelce’s brother and his wife, Taylor Swift showed up with them in a suite for Sunday’s big Chiefs-Bills game.

    Getty Images

Taylor sat in a skybox with the whole Kelce clan, including Travis’ parents, Donna and Ed Kelce, his brother Jason Kelce, and Jason’s wife Kylie. See a video of Taylor and Kylie chatting it up here!

Cara Delevingne, comedian Jerrod Carmichael, and Taylor’s longtime bestie Ashley Avignone were also spotted in the suite, along with Brittany Mahomes.

But it was Jason Kelce who really stole the show in an epic moment when he went shirtless to celebrate a Travis touchdown!

Jason climbed out of the suite to say hi to some fans, and lifted up one little girl so she could wave to Taylor. Watch!

After the score, Travis’ first of two on the night, he made Swifties swoon by putting up heart hands and blowing a kiss toward the suite where Taylor was sitting. See the video!

When Aditi Kinkhabwala of CBS Sports later asked Travis about bro Jason’s gone-viral moment, the tight end replied, “My brother was shirtless? Nah, it doesn’t surprise me one bit. I love that guy, and every time we’re not on the field together, we’re always rooting for each other.”

Jason was able to attend the game after his Eagles were eliminated from the playoffs last weekend in a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Sunday marked the first time we’ve seen Taylor interact with Jason and Kylie in public, though she has attended previous Chiefs games with Donna and Ed.

Taylor sported a white-and-red jacket, a red beanie, and a matching red lip for the outing.

As she entered the stadium, a Buffalo fan shouted, “Bills by a billion!” and Taylor responded by blowing a kiss to the crowd.

The Chiefs and Bills last went head-to-head on December 10, when the Bills won 20-17.

Sunday night’s winner heads to the AFC Championship game on their way to the Super Bowl (February 11).

Swift was not put off by weather reports suggesting temperatures in the low 20s — after all, she showed up to the Chiefs-Dolphins game on January 13, when temperatures were below zero!

  • Jason Kelce’s beer chugging raises more than $380,000 for autism research

Jason Kelce’s beer chugging raises more than $380,000 for autism research

Only Jason Kelce could get thousands of fans to trek down to the Jersey Shore on a random Wednesday to drink beer.

The All-Pro center for the Philadelphia Eagles stirs emotions in people that they never knew existed. With all apologies to Swoop, he is the team’s real mascot, cloaked in a Mummer’s costume and yelling “Hell yeah!” in his raspy voice.

Kelce held his third-annual “Team 62” celebrity bartending event at the Ocean Drive bar in Sea Isle City on June 28.

Diehards brought Styrofoam coolers, party games, and lawn chairs as they turned Landis Avenue into a makeshift tailgate party that wrapped up and down two streets. The cover charge was $10, with all proceeds going to support the Eagles Autism Foundation.

The rowdy revelers — many of them dressed in No. 62 jerseys — carried footballs and other memorabilia to get autographed, while flashing crisp $100 bills that they were preparing to hand over to Kelce in exchange for a beer and a shot. Man of the people. Man of many masks, including the fat Batman one.

“I think the Sea Isle community is very much into any excuse to party and have fun,” Kelce told Billy Penn. “You don’t have to talk me into a good time. It’s a good time so everybody that’s been here before loves it, you get to be out and about with good people with everyone looking to have fun, it’s a good time.”

Chugging beer to raise money for charity

The seeds for Kelce’s beach bash were planted very much on a whim in 2021. After the isolation of pandemic lockdowns, the Eagles star was casually strolling down the streets of Sea Isle City and stopping to take pictures with any fan who wanted one.

It was evident, then and now, that he was very much the town’s unofficial mayor. Locals claim to see him everywhere, from shopping at ACME to visiting Fish Alley. That’s when the Eagles jumped in.

“It was he and I negotiating, watching him taking hundreds of pictures,” said Ryan Hammond, executive director of the Eagles Autism Foundation. “I said, ‘We should turn this into a philanthropy,’ and he just agreed — and I don’t know if he knew what he agreed to in that moment, but three years later, here we are.”

The line was long but moved rather quickly as people slammed beers and hard seltzers in between impromptu Eagles chants.

One of the people waiting to get in was Matt Craig, a 21-year-old from Cape May dressed in a Kelce Mummer’s costume. His brother has autism, he said, so the fundraiser meant a lot to him personally as well as as a fan.

“I think of his [Super Bowl 52] speech, and I think about how we don’t really care about what any of the competition says, about what any of the haters say. It’s all about love and respect for your community and your team,” Craig said.

“It’s really good what they’re doing,” he added about the fundraiser. “It sets a great example for what celebrities can do for the community.”

Donna Kelce: Mom of the people

If Jason Kelce is the man of the people, then Donna Kelce has become the momma bear. Multiple bar-goers waiting in line talked about how much they admired the woman who gave birth to two NFL superstars.

The Trautman family — husband and wife Kirk and Maria, with daughter Melina — were the first fans to enter Ocean Drive. They’d arrived in Sea Isle City at 6 a.m. and got in line at 10 a.m. They were delighted when Donna walked by them on her way in and stopped to chat for a few minutes.

“She’s gotta be the most famous football mom ever,” said Kirk, 59, from Glen Mills. “And you can see how much Jason loves her and cares about her.”

And, no kidding, a few were ready to submit adoption papers.

“I love her. Absolutely,” said Faith, 24, from Philadelphia. “My mom wouldn’t be happy with that, but I’d let her do it.”

“Great mom, trickles down from the parents, obviously a great person,” said Kevin O’Donnell, 31, from Montgomeryville. “I like who I am. But adding the hyphen Kelce might be good.”

Later in the day, news of these hopeful adoptees was related to Donna as everyone was waiting for Jason to step behind the bar and serve up drinks. She laughed, and offered honest feedback.

“They probably wouldn’t like it very much,” Donna said. “I was a little bit of a tough love kind of mom.”

Donna went on to express how proud she was of both her sons, Jason and Travis, for following their dreams. She said neither one was ever shy as a kid, relaying that Jason was “very loud” and loved to get up in front of people. He played the saxophone in high school and starred in a sixth-grade performance of the musical “Grease.”

“I knew he would be good at whatever he did,” Donna said. “He was just somebody who had his own small little business. He was a very focused individual.”
Jason Kelce never misses a chance for a fun fan selfie. (Mike Greger for Billy Penn)
Did that focus translate to bartending? Not according to Jason.

“Don’t ask me to make a cocktail unless it’s a rum and coke,” he said from behind the bar. “Don’t ask me to make a cocktail. Long Islands? No.”

This year’s event had raised $150,000 before the bar even opened its doors at 3 p.m. for VIP customers. In addition to the entrance fee, there was a Beer Bowl fan competition, auction, raffle, and pop-up yard sale, as well as a live recording of Jason and Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast. A marathon all around.

It was predicted to be a “record year,” according to Hammond, Eagles Autism Foundation executive director — and by the end of the night, the foundation had tallied $380,000 raised.

“Jason Kelce is a really good example that you can use your talents and turn them into fundraising dollars,” Hammond said. “And, for him, it’s chugging beer.”

Added Kelce: “It’s a long day, but with how much money is raised … I really just enjoy being here.”

In May, the Eagles player spoke exclusively with PEOPLE on the set of his Campbell’s Chunky commercial — which also stars his brother, Travis Kelce, and their mom, Donna Kelce — about his love of being a girl dad and how life has been since he and wife welcomed their third baby earlier this year.

“I need to knock on wood, but we really lucked out,” said Jason. “It’s really easy, to be honest with you, so we’re still waiting for that shoe to drop.”

Noting how he thinks things may change and get “difficult” once his youngest daughter is “up and actually moving around,” the football star continued, “right now Kylie is attached to Bennett for pretty much the whole day, so my job is the other two running around — and that’s the easy part.”

He added, “I’m having fun with them, throwing them on the sofa. We just got a playground put in out back. So it’s starting to get a lot of fun with the older two, especially.”

Jason Kelce addresses fake rumors he and wife Kylie are having another baby as he slams ‘made-up universe’ and jokes he would have a problem if they made it in Milan – because his wife went without him!

Jason Kelce has cleared up rumors from the ‘made-up universe’ about wife Kylie being pregnant with their fourth child, insisting they do not have another baby on the way.

Kelce, who announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday after 13 years as a Philadelphia Eagles player, already has three daughters with Kylie, his wife of six years.

However, last month false rumors surfaced that the couple are expecting a fourth child, which Jason has shut down on his and brother Travis’ latest New Heights podcast.

And after her recent trip to Milan Fashion Week, the former Eagles center joked that he would have a problem if the baby was made in Italy.

‘Apparently Kylie is pregnant with our fourth child, it’s a boy,’ he told Travis. ‘In this made-up universe.’

Travis then joked: ‘You guys made a baby in Milan?’

Jason replied: ‘That’s right! If she got pregnant in Milan we’ve got some things to answer here.’

Along with the pregnancy speculation, Jason and Travis went on to rubbish a few more myths in both the media and online, including a fake photo of the former dressed up as Alan from famous comedy movie The Hangover during his recent trip to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl.

‘That photo of me, Zak Galifanakis as The Hangover, it’s crazy,’ Jason said. ‘There’s a three-year video of [daughter] Wyatt before a game this year, people made it sound like she was playing center.

‘People will just say anything, anything that get them likes and clicks. People don’t vet anything.’

Travis also touched on a report claiming he and girlfriend Taylor Swift are planning to leave the US if Donald Trump gets re-elected as President later this year.

‘Don’t believe everything you read, especially on what I’ve got going on,’ the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said.

Jason responded: ‘Apparently leaving the country?’

Travis and Jason were met with a standing ovation at the Cavaliers’ Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse as they were honored by their hometown team on Tuesday night.

Jason announced his retirement on Monday while younger brother Travis is fresh off of his third Super Bowl win with the Chiefs last month.

And the duo were cheered on by the crowd after a tribute video was shown for Jason, with the Eagles great holding up a Cleveland Heights T-shirt and Travis holding up a framed No. 62 Cavs jersey with ‘Kelce’ on it.

Jason and Kylie Kelce have given their three daughters the gift of a new playroom for 2024.

The Philadelphia Eagles center and college athlete worked with Pottery Barn Kids to make over the space in their Philadelphia-area compound that would give Wyatt, Elliotte and Bennett a safe place in which to goof around.

“Family is everything. It’s really important to have this space feel cozy and comfortable,” Kylie, 31, said in a statement.

“We feel like the items are made with such great quality, whether it’s storage, a book shelf, something great that will look amazing in the space but also be kid durable.”

Surprising no one, the longtime couple leaned into shades of green in light of the family’s connection to the Eagles.

Green seems to be a popular color among NFL players, as Eric Decker and his wife, Jessie James Decker, recently revealed their new, Colorado-inspired nursery for their upcoming fourth child.

Says Kylie Kelce She said, “I enjoy living a private life, I am not a celebrity,” as she deliberately avoided being seen by the camera

Kylie Kelce says she’s overwhelmed and feels “guilty” that fans have become so intrigued by her life, as she hangs out with brother-in-law Travis Kelce‘s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, while husband Jason Kelce has made headlines for his viral shirtless Kansas City Chiefs game antics.

“I feel almost a little guilty that people are so interested and invested in what I’m doing,” Kylie, 31, told Good Morning America in an interview that aired on Monday, January 29. “I’m like, ‘I am trying to scrape applesauce off the couch. This is not that fascinating.’ So, it’s funny to me. I deeply appreciate the support,” she continued.

Jason, 36, and Kylie share three daughters: Wyatt, 4, Elliotte, 2, and Bennett, 11 months. She works as a high school field hockey coach in suburban Philadelphia. Fans praised Kylie for her no-nonsense way of dealing with Jason when the Philadelphia Eagles star went shirtless and jumped out of their suite during the Chiefs’ playoff road game against the Buffalo Bills. With a beer in hand, he celebrated a Kansas City touchdown score by his brother by heading into the stands of Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York, while surrounded by Bills fans. Kylie later explained how she was lenient at first before trying to get him under control.

She recalled how Jason wanted the full tailgate experience with the Bills Mafia and was already in full party mode when he got to their suite. “He said to me, ‘I’m going to, I’m going to take my shirt off and I’m gonna jump out,’” Kylie told GMA in a segment that aired on January 26. “And I was like, ‘I don’t think that’s the best idea.

‘ But I think that it was that continued energy from when he was hyping himself up…” she continued. “So, the first time he jumped out of the suite, I was, you know what, go ahead. That’s my husband! And then the second and third time he did it, I was like, I’m gonna need you to get back in because the poor cops that are out front trying to keep the chaos at a minimum, are, you’re making their jobs harder.

So, at first, I was all for it. And then I had to try and reel him back in.” Taylor’s fans were also thrilled to see her interacting with another member of Travis’ family, as Kylie and Jason were able to cheer on his little brother after the Eagles were eliminated from the playoffs in the wild card round. The “Cruel Summer” singer was seen hugging Kylie after big plays and posed for a group photo together.

Football fans became aware of Kylie’s toughness and devotion to her husband and the game when she attended Super Bowl LVII in Glendale, Arizona, despite being 38 weeks pregnant with Bennett at the time. She even brought along her obstetrician to the big game in case she went into labor. Unfortunately, she didn’t have much to celebrate as far as on-field action, as Jason’s Eagles lost to Travis’ Chiefs, with the younger brother taking home his second Super Bowl ring in four years on February 12, 2023. Kylie gave birth to Bennett less than two weeks later on February 23, 2023.

“Wholly My Fault”: Jason Kelce Admits After-Retirement Mistake On The Field During Old Eagles vs. Seahawks Game

Jason Kelce may have retired from the Philadelphia Eagles. However, his legacy has continued to live on, and so have his rivalries with other teams from the NFL. While the former football center had continuously lost every match to the Seahawks since he had joined in the 2011 draft, the father of two finally seemed ready to take the blame for a mishap that had cost them the game just a few short years ago.

Although the blunder might have haunted Kelce for years, some of the 36-year-old’s fans believed that the whole thing had not been the former Eagles’ player’s fault. In a post on X, one such fan posted a clip of the 2020 match when the 7-time Pro Bowl athlete forgot to snap the ball. Although everyone saw it as a one-off that would probably never happen again, the retired NFL star commented, “It was totally my fault.”

Kelce had addressed the incident before. However, it was the first time clearing the air with a fan. While the internet tried to comfort him about the 2020 mess up, it did not sit right with the rest of the Eagles team as a veteran player had caused them a major setback. Unfortunately, they wound up losing the game with a score of 23-17. The 36-year-old may have been forgiven by his fans, but it looks like he is holding himself accountable.

While Kelce might not have been over his distracted behavior 3 years ago, the former NFL star made a similar fumble just a year before he announced his retirement.

Jason Kelce’s second fumble against the Seahawks

Before Jason Kelce retired earlier this year, he wound up playing his final match against the Seattle Seahawks. Although it might have been a chance for the 36-year-old to go out with a bang, he unfortunately stumbled the ball once more. This time, though, instead of forgetting to snap the ball, the seasoned center ended up moving the ball forward before the snap, which resulted in the team receiving a penalty. With the infraction forcing them to settle for a field goal instead of something better, fans were fuming.

The fumbled play left Eagles’ fans storming social media to air out their frustrations with Kelce. However, he chose the high road and took accountability for his unintentional mess up. In a post-game interview with ProFootballTalk, he said, “They’ve been warning me of that for years,” acknowledging the referees’ numerous rules.

However, he continued, “I think when you’re trying to get a forward lean and you really do that, I think I had a tendency to do that in the past, so they’ve definitely warned me before. I think that I just got to be smarter. Especially in that situation.” The older Kelce taking responsibility for his actions should come as no surprise.

After all, he was one of the main people who held Travis Kelce accountable for losing his cool at Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid during the Super Bowl final earlier this year. Apart from that, Kelce has always owned up to his actions. This is probably the reason why Jason Kelce is heavily regarded in the NFL community.

Jason Kelce acknowledges that he missed the mark and neglected to get his wife Kylie an anniversary gift

He joked about making her a unique gift.

Jason Kelce may be retired from the NFL, but the former Philadelphia Eagles star has been keeping busy. He co-hosts his wildly popular podcast New Heights with his brother and fellow NFL star Travis Kelce and is gearing up to head to ESPN as an on-air host. Between his different commitments, Kelce let one important occasion slip through the cracks: his wedding anniversary.

Jason and Kylie Kelce got married on April 14, 2018. When speaking with his brother Travis on the May 1 episode of New Heights, Jason admitted that he was so busy with work that he forgot to get his wife an anniversary gift.

“Don’t ask Kylie! I am a bad gift planner and giver,” Jason said honestly about his mom’s recent comments that boys are often not good gift givers on Mother’s Day. “I can’t be good at dancing and be good at gift giving. I can only have one of those,” he added.

“I owe Kylie an anniversary gift,” he confessed. “I’m almost a month post-due on that. We were doing the Cincinnati live show [on April 11] and it distracted me.”

“I gotta come big with something,” he resolved, to which Travis had the suggestion to make her a sword. “I mean, I don’t think she’d be into it,” Jason said at first, though he then realized it’s better than nothing. “Right now, a sword is definitely better than what I’ve currently gotten her.”“Now I gotta get it to Kylie before this episode airs on [May 1]. So I kind of [need to] move fast on this sword,” he concluded.

Between putting Kylie on the spot for an Irish dance and not giving an anniversary gift, Jason should consider himself a lucky guy these days.
