Jason Kelce seemingly dropped a few subtle references to his brother’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, in his emotional retirement speech — or at least he took some inspiration from her songs.

The veteran Philadelphia Eagles player, 36, announced he was hanging up his football cleats after 13 seasons in the NFL during a press conference Monday.

“It’s only too poetic I found my career being fulfilled in the city of brotherly love, I knew that relationship all too well,” the athlete said about his brother, Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, quoting Swift’s “All Too Well” song.

“If you go above and beyond in this city, you will be rewarded beyond your wildest dreams,” he said, potentially calling out a song from Swift’s “1989” album.He also thanked his parents, Donna and Ed Kelce, brother Travis, and his wife, Kylie Kelce, who were all holding back tears from the audience.

“There is no chance I would be here without the bond Travis and I share,” he said of the star tight end.

“It was really my brother and I our whole lives. We did almost everything together — competed, fought, laughed, cried and learned from each other. We invented games, imagine ourselves as star players of that time.

The now-retired footballer continued wiping away tears as he recalled meeting his wife, Kylie, during the 2014 Eagles’ Christmas party and how proud he is to be a girl dad to their three daughters: Wyatt, 4, Elliotte, 3, and Bennie, 1.

The center was the Eagles’ sixth-round pick in the 2011 draft and he spent his entire career with the team.

He won a Super Bowl ring in 2018 and memorably helped lead his team to the big game in 2023, where he faced off against his brother. The Eagles lost to the Chiefs 38-35.

The City of Brotherly Love wins out for Jason Kelce over brotherhood!

The newly retired NFL star may no longer be a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, but says he would root for them next season if the 2025 Super Bowl ended up being a rematch of them against his brother Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs.

“I will always be an Eagle, first and foremost,” Jason, 36, said in response to the hypothetical query from a fan in the “No Dumb Questions” segment of the brothers’ New Heights podcast on Wednesday.

Jason added, “I’ll also root for Travis to have a good game because he’s my brother.”

Travis, 34, seemingly responded with surprise to his older brother’s answer.

“Good luck to your Eagles,” he joked.

After this season’s disappointing Eagles playoff run, Jason cut a memorable figure in the stands cheering on the Chiefs in their Super Bowl bid, from his shirtless exploits in Buffalo to his overalls at the big game in Las Vegas.

Despite making his own headlines while watching from afar, Jason also had an impact on Travis’ performance.

“He fired me up after that AFC Championship game, telling me to go and get it and that we’re the best in the game,” Travis told reporters in the lead-up to the Super Bowl. “Just having his support is all I need. Seeing him at the game, seeing him get excited, that’s everything.”

The two brothers made history last year when they faced off in the big game in February 2023, with the Chiefs winning 38-35 in a nail-biter.

Following the game, however, Jason was sure to hug and congratulate his brother on the win.

Travis was later emotional, and shared that their historic matchup conjured a “weird feeling.”

“There’s nothing you can really say to a loved one in a situation like that,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said while fighting back tears after the Super Bowl last year. “You joke around all the time and say you want to beat your brother on the biggest stage, but it’s a weird feeling.”

He added, “That team had great leadership, great coaches and it came down to the end,” Travis said. “We have all the respect in the world for those Eagles. There’s nothing I can say to him other than I love him and he played a hell of a year, a hell of a season.”

On the most recent episode of the New Heights podcast, big brother Jason Kelce had to remind Travis Kelce that even his jokes have weight these days. You see, Travis spoke about diamonds and babies in the same sentence, leading some outlets and Swifties to wonder whether he was deliberately trying to spark engagement rumors.

The brothers had been discussing NBA player Victor Wembanyama’s skills. Wembanyama is a staggering 7’4” and from Le Chesnay, Le Chesnay-Rocquencourt, France, so Travis told Jason, “You can’t tell me that dude wasn’t made in a fucking lab over there in France. Lab-grown diamonds, that’s a lab-grown fucking NBA player.”

Then he added, “Can’t wait ’til I fuckin’ make one.” It was not clear whether Travis meant a baby superathlete or a diamond.

Jason wisely cut Travis off, saying, “Don’t do this. Do not give any of these other conspiracy theorists anything else to latch onto, please.”

Travis and his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, have managed to keep their relationship more private during her tour break. The couple was spotted on vacation earlier in the week, but otherwise, they have been completely offline and out of the paparazzi’s lens.

A source spoke to People about how well things are going between Travis and Swift on March 18. “They’re still very happy,” the insider said. “They’re so cute together.”

Swift and Travis have been together for less than a year and first began dating privately in July. A source told Entertainment Tonight that Swift really can see the Kansas City Chiefs tight end going the distance in her love life.

“I gotta set this record straight because I see a lot of people on social media list all of Aaron’s sacks against quarterbacks. People [say, Donald] never had a sack against the Eagles. Oh, the Eagles had his number.” Kelce said. “We double-teamed him, we triple-teamed him every single game, alright. He is the only defensive tackle we have ever gone up against where the entire game plan is situated on not having him ruin the game. The only one.”

Donald is one of the most successful pass-rushers of this generation and is one of the most intimidating of all time. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Donald has been doubled 1,797 times in the last six years.

That’s 152 more than any other player in the NFL, regardless of position. Remarkably, Donald still leads all defensive tackles with a pass-rush win rate of 26% since 2017.
