When Jimmy Butler took over the Heat’s series against the Bucks and led them to a stunning elimination of the East’s No. 1 seed, it sparked comparisons between him and Michael Jordan. It also sparked other rumors about his relationship with Jordan.

A conspiracy theory about Butler being Jordan’s son is once again gaining traction online. In the wake of Miami’s upset over Milwaukee, dozens of TikTok and YouTube videos have promoted the theory. Some have even racked up more than a million views.

To be clear, the rumor is absolutely false. Butler and Jordan aren’t related, and there is no evidence to suggest they are. But that probably won’t stop the theory from continuing to spread across the internet like wildfire if Butler keeps balling out in the playoffs.

Is Jimmy Butler Michael Jordan’s son?

No, he is not.

Jimmy Butler III was born in Houston in 1989 to Jimmy Butler II and Londa Butler. His father abandoned the family when he was an infant, and he was raised by his mother in the suburb of Tomball, Texas, until he was 13.

This is where his story takes another sad turn. One day, his mother kicked him out of the house.

“I don’t like the look of you,” Butler recalls her saying. “You gotta go.”

Left to his own devices, he stayed with various friends as long as he could. Eventually, he found a more stable home with his friend, Jordan Leslie. He became a basketball star at Tomball High School before moving to Tyler Junior College and Marquette.

Despite the turmoil in his early years, Butler maintains a relationship with both of his parents.

“I still talk to my family,” he told Chicago Magazine in 2015. “My mom. My father. We love each other. That’s never going to change.”

Where did the Michael Jordan-Jimmy Butler rumor come from?

The theory arose all the way back in 2016 based on another rumor that Jordan has an unidentified son.

That year, a short post on the website TerezOwens.com referenced a “tipster” who claimed Butler might be Jordan’s illegitimate son. Here is the original post, which features numerous typos and grammatical errors:
Jordan Would Not Clam unwanted Child in 1988 in fear of Destroying Marriage! Child took on mothers name of Butler. It was reported he paid mother off so he would not tarnished his public image & Legacy….& role model figure. After 13 years mother kicked Child out of house hold because payments stop…
This is nonsense for a few reasons, but primarily because Butler wasn’t even born until September 1989.

Rumors have swirled for years that Jordan has an illegitimate child, but there has never been any evidence to back up these claims. In 1991, a woman named Karla Knafel claimed that he was the father of her child, but a DNA test proved that wasn’t the case.

Jordan has been married twice. He has five children — three with his first wife, Juanita Vanoy, and two with his second wife, Yvette Prieto.

Like many other internet rumors, the Butler-Jordan conspiracy stems from a debunked claim that has gained traction simply because TikTok and YouTube users found it and decided to promote it.

Ben Affleck has revealed that Michael Jordan had a number of demands when it came to making the forthcoming movie Air.

Affleck has directed and starred in the film, which is based upon the story of the sporting company’s courting of the former NBA superstar to create the now iconic Air Jordan trainer. Air is set to be released next month with Matt Damon in the role of shoe salesman Sonny Vaccaro, who spearheaded Nike‘s pursuit of Jordan.However, before cameras got rolling on the film, Affleck has revealed that approached the former basketball great to make sure he was happy with how the movie was set to play out. It turns out Jordan had a number of demands for Affleck, in return for his blessing – including a veto of who would play his beloved mother, Deloris.

Speaking at the film’s premiere at the 2023 SXSW Conference and Festival in Austin, Texas, Affleck [as per Variety] said: “I had a chance to sit down with Michael Jordan, because I just wasn’t going to make this movie without asking him, ‘What matters to you?’ Interestingly, and tellingly, he had a few things that mattered.”

One of Jordan’s demands was that the film feature Howard White, vice president of the Jordan brand and a Nike executive, who was not featured in the original script. When Jordan discovered White had not been written into the original script, he told Affleck that White “needed to be in the movie”. Thus, Chris Tucker was cast in the role of White.

The demands didn’t end there, as Affleck continued: “Michael Jordan, for those of you who don’t know, is one of the most intimidating, impressive men you’ll ever see in your life.

“He told me about his father. And then he talked about his mother. It was the first time I saw this look cross his face. It was a look of reverence, of awe, of love, and gratitude, and innocence. He said, ‘None of this would have ever happened without my mother’.”

After hearing what Jordan said about his mother, Affleck said he then asked Jordan who he wanted to play his Deloris Jordan. Jordan had someone picked out from the get-go, and responded: “Viola Davis.”

“That’s like saying, ‘Can I play basketball on your court?’ ‘Yeah, if you get Michael Jordan’.” Affleck said. “Viola Davis is the best actor I’ve ever seen. This is a hard business. It’s hard to know if you’re successful. It’s hard to know if you’ve accomplished something.”

Despite Davis being one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood, Affleck succeeded in casting Davis in the movie. Speaking about that particular achievement, he said: “But, honest to God, I always felt that if i was a director one day, and I had Viola Davis in a movie, that would really be something. That would mean the world to me. And it does.”

‘Air’ is set to arrive in the US on April 5 and in the UK on April 7.

Due to his incredible competitive nature, Michael Jordan rarely gave his rivals special compliments. However, when once quizzed to name the toughest matchups of his Hall of Fame career several years ago, “His Airness” anointed the “little guards” from his era as the ones who gave him the most problems during games.

According to Jordan, guys like Allen Iverson and even Muggsy Bogues were a handful, but when someone from the crowd asked if former New York Knicks guard John Starks was one of them, MJ smiled and said nope.

“The hardest opponent for me to play against in terms of 1-on-1? Small guys: [Allen] Iverson, Damon Stoudamire, Rod Strickland, Muggsy [Bogues]… Those little guards like that, it was hard for me,” the six-time NBA champion confided. “Starks?!… [I had] No problem with Starks.”

“I’m not exaggerating that much when I say that MJ could jump out of the gym. And he had those big hands that could palm the ball. He could create space for himself. He was special in that way. When Mike was out there, he was trying to kill your spirit. He took everything personally, and when he stepped out on the court, he felt that he had something to prove every single time. That was just him, whether it was me or whoever else guarding him. His mentality wasn’t just to score a lot of points. He wanted to crush your soul,” Starks confessed.

Despite often falling short against Jordan, Starks is content knowing he had epic duels with the GOAT.

“After guarding Jordan, I can say that I played against the greatest. Even if I failed a lot of the time, I can live with that,” he concluded.

Smaller guards during MJ’s era differed from those in today’s NBA. Back then, smaller guards were fast, athletic, and durable, and, more importantly, they played pesky defense. “I’d go against Stephen Curry because I’m a little bit bigger than him so I could back him in, but LeBron’s a little bit too big,” Jordan assessed. “If I was in my prime, could I beat LeBron in a one-on-one game? No question. And he’s going to say no question. [Curry] is a great player. Not a Hall Of Famer yet, though. He’s not.”

Kylie Kelce hilariously revealed her reaction to her husband Jason’s drunken antics at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl afterparty.

Kylie and Jason had cheered on his brother, Chiefs star Travis Kelce, as Kansas City became the first team since the New England Patriots in 2004 to go back-to-back at the Super Bowl.

Following the Chiefs 25-22 overtime victory, Travis and the team partied the night away until 5.15am at XS Nightclub at Wynn Las Vegas with a host of celebrity names, including the tight end’s girlfriend Taylor Swift.

Swift was not the only member of Travis’ inner circle at the afterparty, however, as Jason also cut loose, dancing hilariously behind the DJ booth while wearing a Mexican wrestling mask.

Clips of the NFL veteran’s hilarious dance moves and drunken antics went viral on social media but Kylie, who has been married to the Philadelphia Eagles center since 2018, claimed she wasn’t surprised.

‘I was not surprised, not even a little bit,’ she said when asked about her husband’s wild night on The Strip during the Kelce brothers’ post-Super Bowl episode of their New Heights podcast Wednesday.

‘At first was I surprised that you were wearing that mask? Yes. But am I surprised that you fully committed to wearing a f***ing Nacho Libre Kansas City-style mask for the entire afterparty? No.’

Jason, a Super Bowl winner himself with the Eagles in 2019, delivered some wild dance moves as DJ Marshmello got the party going.

‘You displayed your three dance moves,’ Kylie added. ‘Jason… Jason… you were really hip-thrusting. Jason, I’ve seen your hip thrust.’

‘Yeah obviously, we’ve got three kids,’ Jason hilariously interjected, leaving his younger brother in stitches as Kylie reluctantly laughed at his quip.

‘Travis can definitely vouch for me on this, you’ve got three dance moves.’ Kylie continued. ‘You were so drunk you just bypassed foot stomping. Stomping is usually your start, that’s how you get yourself amped up..

The mother-of-three then snitched on her husband by revealing he didn’t get out of bed until 1.30pm on Tuesday.

In one video circulating on social media, 36-year-old Jason appears very worse for wear while dancing along at the afterparty as Super Bowl weekend in Vegas looks to have taken its toll.
