In a drinking game, Jason Kelce claims he “will destroy” Travis: “I Had the Mental Edge”

On the latest episode of their New Heights podcast, Travis was quick to defend himself

Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce have a brotherly rivalry on the field, and at the tailgate.

During the latest episode of their New Heights podcast, the Kelce brothers were joined by Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, who asked which brother would win in a drinking contest.

“I’m pretty sure I’ve beaten Jason the last three to five times,” Travis said at the start.

Jason immediately got on the defensive to clear his name. “This is completely made up. First of all, what’s the competition? You’re talking about chugging a beer?” Jason added. Barkley clarified it was about chugging, adding, “Who’s calling it quits?”

Jason then said that he can “definitely drink more volume – I don’t think that’s a question.”

Clearly in shock and disagreement, Travis hilariously quipped, “What?” He then noted that they weigh similar amounts, which could be a contributing factor to who can beat the other.

“You’re already down to 260. We’re in the same weight class now,” he said.

“Yeah I know,” said Jason. “But you don’t have the heart I do when it comes to drinking. You’ve been drinking more than I have recently.”

Travis responded with a fiery claim: “He hasn’t stayed out past 10 p.m. since 2017!”

Jason found several examples to prove Travis’s bold statement wrong. “Did you not see me at your playoff games this year?” the now-retired Eagles player said to which Travis quipped, “Do you remember any of that?” Still keeping up his fight, Jason said “No – because I was drinking all day.”

When it comes to drinking games, the dad of three said he’d beat his brother without question.

“I will destroy him because I got the mental advantage,” Jason added.

When Barkley asked which brother would reign supreme when it comes to shotgunning a beer, Travis tried to remember if the last time they did so was after the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs.

“We didn’t shotgun beers after the Bills, did we?” Jason asked, prompting all three NFL pros to laugh.

Travis then pointed to the silly moment in January when Jason went viral after pulling his shirt off in the stands of Highmark Stadium while cheering on his brother.

    Jason Kelce shirtless.

“You had a shirt on at that point,” he said with a laugh. “Well, it’s on like Donkey Kong,” he added. “We’re going to enter ourselves in this drinking contest. Maybe at the shore or something.”

The pair and Cleveland Heights natives put their drinking chops to the test when they were served beers by the Cleveland Cavaliers mascot Moondog during a game. In a video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), the two were busy before the mascot approached them with two beers.

They then stood up and lifted their beers to the sky before clinking their cups. The video, which had no sound, then captured the Kelces swiftly gulping their drinks down and smiling once they had finished.

Travis then then raised his arms up to hype of the crowd, while Jason lifted a fist up in the air and hugged the mascot.

Justin Thomas reveals hilarious Michael Jordan gambling story on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Justin ThomasJustin Thomas on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Mar. 25, 2024. Paramount

Jack Milko Jack Milko has been playing golf since he was five years old. He has yet to record a hole-in-one, but he did secure an M.A. in Sports Journalism from St. Bonaventure University.

Fresh off his appearance on season two of Netflix’s “Full Swing,” Justin Thomas paid a visit to the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York to chat with Late Show host Stephen Colbert.

But instead of focusing the conversation on Full Swing, or the Ryder Cup, Colbert wanted Thomas to talk about the first time he played golf with Michael Jordan.

Thomas’ story about the six-time NBA champion did not disappoint.

“I [was] probably 15 years old,” Thomas reminisced, as Colbert held up an old photo of him and Jordan side-by-side on the golf course.

“He would always come to the Kentucky Derby, and I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. So he loves golf—he loved it then and still loves it now—and he wanted to play golf when he was in town. He had a friend who he played in the NBA with, Junior Bridgeman, who was friends with my Dad and put the connection together. So he would come out and play my Dad’s course.”

Bridgeman, of course, starred for the University of Louisville under legendary coach Danny Crum. He went on to play for the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers and then served as president of the NBA Players’ Association in the late 1980s.

Later, he amassed tremendous wealth thanks to various business ventures. He also became a member of the PGA of America’s Board of Directors in 2008, the same year Louisville’s Valhalla Golf Club hosted the Ryder Cup. Valhalla will host the PGA Championship for a fourth time this May.

As such, both Bridgeman and Jordan had plenty of cash when they played with a young Thomas at his Dad’s course in Kentucky. They also liked to play money games on the course.

“[Jordan] would always call me little man, so he said to me, ‘Little man, go get your clubs you’re going to play the last seven holes with us,” Thomas said.

“He knew that I played golf, he didn’t know that I was decent, and nobody else had any idea. So [Jordan] said, ‘I’ll take little man and for whoever wants us.’ Of course, everyone is looking at this kid who is 111 pounds.”

Thomas then said he felt “enough pressure” playing with Jordan, but that did not stop him from making four birdies and seven holes.

“That helped me pay for my first car,” Thomas joked.

“I didn’t know the amount [we were playing for]. [Jordan] told everybody not to tell me how much because [I would freak out]. But I won probably three or four grand. It was a funny story.”

“Stephen Curry Influence Thing”: 3x 6th Man Claims Michael Jordan Isn’t the Most Influential Player of All-Time

"Stephen Curry Influence Thing": 3x 6th Man Claims Michael Jordan Isn't the Most Influential Player of All-Time

LeBron James’ comments from the Mind The Game podcast regarding Stephen Curry and Allen Iverson being the most influential players ever are the hottest topic in the basketball world at the moment. On the latest episode of FanDuel’s Run It Back, Lou Williams and Chandler Parsons also had an in-depth debate about the same. While the latter, disagreed with Bron, the three-time Sixth Man of the Year explained why the Los Angeles Lakers superstar wasn’t incorrect.

Chandler Parsons kickstarted the conversation by highlighting the impact that Stephen Curry and Allen Iverson had on the sport. While Parson shed light on Curry’s three-point shooting, the former NBA player believed AI was different since he was a cultural icon.

“I think Steph Curry changed the game of basketball. I think every kid in the world wants to shoot from halfcourt and wants to become a 3-point shooter because of Steph Curry. Allen Iverson changed the game from the dress code, how he dressed, the durag, cornrows, his style, the baggy clothes – yes, that way,” Parsons said.

While Chandler did admit that the two players were of massive significance in NBA history, he resolutely dubbed Michael Jordan the most influential player. Apart from reasoning that MJ found immense success on the court, he also spoke about the Jordan Brand being one of the biggest companies in the world.

“The most influential guy in the NBA is probably Michael Jordan… Arguably the best player of all time… I think when people think basketball, when they think NBA, they think influential – they think Michael Jordan. Everyone thinks he’s the GOAT… no one thinks Steph Curry or Allen Iverson as the GOAT,” Parsons concluded.

Despite Parsons’s words, Lou Williams shared the same opinion as LeBron James. After agreeing that kids wanted to be like Mike in the 1990s, Williams went on to speak about the impact Curry has had on today’s kids. Further, the 37-year-old also revealed how players in the current era wore jewelry, cornrows, and tattoos due to Iverson.

“Did kids wanna be like Mike in the 90s? They absolutely did. But kids that were born in the 2000s, they have an idea of who Michael Jordan was because of their parents… When it comes to influence, these kids – I’m in these AAU gyms every weekend – all of them are shooting from halfcourt, all of them are shooting 3-pointers, turning around before the shoot is up… this is a Steph Curry influence thing.

Everybody in the NBA has tattoos, cornrows, the whole thing, jewelry. All of that comes from Allen Iverson,” Lou Williams explained.

Lou Williams’ point is spot on. For his time in the NBA, Michael Jordan was responsible for popularizing the league, not only in the States but worldwide too. However, with the passage of time also come younger generations, and here Stephen Curry and Allen Iverson reign supreme. So, while it is difficult to diminish the influence MJ had on the game, it can be agreed that Iverson and Curry have had at least a similar level of effect.

LeBron James spoke about the influence of Stephen Curry and Michael Jordan

Similar to Lou Williams, LeBron James believed that Stephen Curry and Allen Iverson were influential due to their shooting and style, respectively. Apart from stating that the two guards below 6ft 3” were more relatable to kids of today’s generation, the King ranked AI and Curry over Michael Jordan as the “two biggest influential guys” in the game.

“One, they’re 6’3… they were just so relatable, and kids felt like they could be them, they were guys that were not always counted on, they were small in stature, and they just defied the odds.

“So, you got AI who’s like, unbelievable crossover, cornrows, arm sleeves, everyone wears arm sleeves now because of Allen Iverson, and he’s going into the trenches, laying it up over bigs, whatever the case may be. And now you have Steph, who’s shooting over the Empire State Building,” James told Redick.

James isn’t inaccurate. In terms of reliability, trying to emulate Iverson and Curry is a more realistic aim as compared to emulating Michael Jordan. While the level of skill and talent required to do what Curry and Iverson have done is magnanimous, fans may see it and think that they could try a similar move too. And slowly, it is because of that aspect that they may get more drawn to these personalities, rather than the likes of Michael Jordan, or even LeBron James.

  • “People Want to Pretend”: Larsa Pippen Unveils True Nature of Michael Jordan’s Relationship With Scottie Pippen

“People Want to Pretend”: Larsa Pippen Unveils True Nature of Michael Jordan’s Relationship With Scottie Pippen

Larsa Pippen is a one-woman show on Separation Anxiety now and she’s not holding back. She’s once more setting the record straight on her history with the Chicago Bulls dynasty. That is, she was never in it. She also witnessed the waning relationship between the team’s greatest duo, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. If you ask Larsa, the supposed best friends-turned-foes are not what everyone assumes.

I think people want to pretend they were best friends,” Larsa said about The Pip and His Airness. She doesn’t stutter when she says, “They were not friends. They were not best friends.”Larsa and Scottie were together since 1997 before finalizing their divorce in 2021. Shortly into their relationship, Scottie would win his final chip with the Bulls in 1998 before he went to the Houston Rockets. As per Larsa, her official NBA WAG life began in Houston and she never interacted with the Jordan fam indicating Scottie was not that close to them to introduce his partner to the team.
When I met my ex [Scottie Pippen], I was a senior in college, and so they [Pippen and Jordan] only played together for the last year,“ she recalled on the podcast. She’s said it before too that she had not met her other ex, Marcus Jordan and his parents in that single season before Scottie signed with the Rockets. Larsa only came in contact with the Jordan family after her divorce from Scottie.

She and Marcus reiterated they were initially friends before they officially started dating. Her divorce came shortly after the release of The Last Dance which had caused bitter feelings between Scottie and Mike. Though she said that they weren’t friends in the first place, she’s unclear about her ex-husband’s animosity with Michael Jordan.

Larsa Pippen can’t vouch for her ex’s feelings

Scottie Pippen had a bone to pick with MJ since the documentary hit Netflix. He believes that the series showed everyone who’s not Jordan in poor light. However, when Larsa and Marcus made their relationship Instagram official in January 2023, well into Jordan and Pippen’s Last Dance-related feud, the blame was put too much on them for the beef. But Larsa Pippen said on the podcast she doesn’t know about Scottie’s exact feelings over the documentary. “Scotty knows how he feels,” she says but she didn’t give much thought to it herself. The mother of four does think that he has his reasons to be hurt by it.Larsa’s relationship with Marcus Jordan ended for good this month. Yet she’s still fighting allegations that she ruined MJ and Scottie’s friendship. With the benefit of hindsight, she can say that there was no friendship to ruin in the first place.

  • Mind-Blowing Disparity: LaMelo Ball’s 5-Year Deal Overshadows Michael Jordan’s 16-Year Career Earnings by a Staggering $166,000,000

    Mind-Blowing Disparity: LaMelo Ball’s 5-Year Deal Overshadows Michael Jordan’s 16-Year Career Earnings by a Staggering $166,000,000

Earning a Whopping $166,000,000 Less, Michael Jordan's 16-Year Career Earnings Dwarfed by LaMelo Ball’s 5 Year Deal

The NBA free agency definitely stood out in terms of activity this offseason. This is perhaps the first time in a while that the summer has seen so many max extension signings. Kyrie Irving, LaMelo Ball, Tyrese Haliburton, and Desmond Bane, among other stars signed max extensions with their respective teams. The offseason free agency has been so intense that within just a few hours, the contracts of only four players amounted to a billion dollars. Among the massive deals that players signed with their respective teams, LaMelo Ball’s contract was nothing out of the blue. Ball signed a massive $260 million, five year-extension with the Charlotte Hornets. Such big signings are not unprecedented in today’s NBA. However, that was not always the case. Even Michael Jordan, the GOAT for many, only managed to earn a fraction of that amount in his whole career.

It would be impossible to even think that Jordan, the best player of his generation, was paid $6.3 million for seven years in his initial years. Yes, of course, the value of money has changed a lot over the past two decades. The league has also expanded over the years and attracted a vast international audience. Jordan played a crucial role in that as well.

Over the course of his 16-years-old career, Jordan earned $94,000,000 in NBA salaries, which is $166,000,000 less compared to Ball’s $260,000,000, five-year extension deal. Jordan was so underpaid at one point in his career that he would get frustrated watching guys who were not even on his level get paid more than him.

Michael Jordan made $166 million less in his career than LaMelo Ball’s current extension

Despite being considered the GOAT of basketball, Jordan was underpaid, even if his salary is adjusted to inflation. What LaMelo will make in just five years, Jordan couldn’t make in 16 years. Ball’s five year earnings are $166,000,000 more than Jordan’s lifetime NBA earnings.

However, the massive increase in salary for the players compared to the common household yearly income in the US is not a big surprise. During the early years of basketball, the star players made 2.6 times more than the average yearly income of a family. This has increased to 600 times in 2020. One of the common explanations for the massive salary increase is the TV and media signings by the league.

The partnerships with the media and entertainment channels have helped the league earn a substantial amount. The CBA has made sure that players get a share of the increased income. The salary in the NBA has increased so much that the highest-paid player in the league makes 360 times more money than the highest-paid basketball player in the 1940s. This amount is after adjusting for inflation.

Chicago Bulls tried to compensate Jordan during his final years with the team

Despite being underpaid before his first retirement, Jordan’s salary skyrocketed during his second stint. After Michael Jordan joined the Bulls in 1995, coming back from retirement, they lost in the playoffs. However, the Chicago side came determined the next season and won the Championship once again.

Sometimes, the absence of a star reveals his true value, and the Bulls somehow realized MJ’s importance to the franchise. The franchise paid a massive $30.1 million to Jordan in a year’s extension. Next year, after he won his fifth championship, his salary increased by $3 million. By the 1997-98 season, Jordan was being paid $33.1 million for a single season. It remained a record until the 2018 season.

Michael Jordan will go down in history as one of the greatest basketball stars to ever play the game.

Off the court, however, he found love with wife Yvette Prieto. After divorcing his first wife, Juanita Vanoy, in 2006, Jordan met the former model at a Miami nightclub in 2008. They quickly hit it off and moved in together the following year. By 2011, they were engaged.

On April 27, 2013, Jordan and Prieto tied the knot in front of 500 guests. Now, the couple share twin daughters and reside in Jupiter, Florida.

Although the NBA legend and Cuban-born model keep their relationship private, they have appeared on a few red carpets together. The couple have also attended basketball games, boxing matches and NASCAR races.

Here’s everything to know about Yvette Prieto, Michael Jordan’s wife.

Prieto was born in Cuba though her family moved to Miami when she was young. Growing up near the ocean, Prieto developed a love for sailing, according to ESPN the Magazine. Over the years, the couple has gone on sailing trips “because Yvette loves them, even though he hates the water.”

She also had a career as a model and worked with designers like Alexander Wang.

She dated Julio Iglesias Jr. before she met Jordan

Prior to meeting the NBA star, the model dated Julio Iglesias Jr., the son of Spanish singer Julio Iglesias and brother of Latin pop star Enrique Iglesias. Iglesias Jr. told Hola! magazine in 2003 that Prieto was “a fantastic girl” and a “loving, simple and very good person.”

The former model met her now-husband at a Miami nightclub in 2008. They reportedly moved in together the following year. In 2011, Jordan proposed to Prieto over the Christmas holiday, and the two started planning their wedding straight away.

“They’ve been planning for months and months. He wanted to give Yvette everything she’s ever wanted,” a source told PEOPLE.

Several celebrities were in attendance, including Spike Lee, Patrick Ewing and Tiger Woods. Robin Thicke and Usher both performed at the reception.

Although Prieto met Jordan well after his basketball career ended, he’s still a huge celebrity, which means the couple have often needed extra security. ESPN the Magazine reported that Jordan hired a “private security team” to accompany them on overseas trips. During these trips, the couple often used code names to ensure their privacy and safety. Prieto’s secret code name was Harmony, while Jordan went by Yahweh.

“Yvette and the babies are doing well and the family is overjoyed at their arrival,” Jordan’s spokeswoman said at the time.

She and Jordan traveled to Nashville for NASCAR’s Ally 400 in June 2023

Prieto and Jordan are big NASCAR fans, and in June 2023, they watched the Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway. Two days before the race, the couple attended a party at The Electric Jane. Jordan was spotted mingling with Garth Brooks and NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace.
