Jason Kelce will be part of the first-pitch ceremony during Saturday’s Philadelphia Phillies game, but he won’t be throwing the ball.

The recently retired Eagles center clarified he won’t be able to throw a first pitch before the game due to a balky elbow:

Former Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, who also retired this offseason, will be handling the first pitch honors.

Kelce has become one of the most sought-after sports personalities in recent months, owing a large part of his increased cachet to his brother Travis’ relationship with Taylor Swift. Several TV networks are reportedly pursuing the elder Kelce to join their NFL coverage. Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reported Kelce is viewed as “the linchpin of the NFL TV free-agent season.”

WWE Superstar The Miz has also been openly calling for Kelce to make an appearance at WrestleMania 40, which takes place next month in Philadelphia.

Suffice it to say Kelce may wind up busier in retirement than when he was playing.

EXCLUSIVE: Former Eagles Star Ike Reese Discusses Jason Kelce’s Retirement Decision

Former Philadelphia Eagles special teams standout and current broadcaster Ike Reese recently shared insights with Overtime Heroics Senior Editor Reggie Roberts about the retirement decision of Eagles” veteran center Jason Kelce.

In the interview, Reese provided his perspective on the possibility of Kelce reversing his retirement announcement.

He said, “I think Jason Kelce could play at a very high level for another two or three years, but he’s made the decision to retire. I know he has a lot of other things he wants to do off the field.  I think that if he hasn’t come back to football by July, he is going to stay retired.”

He concluded by stating, “NFL players have a clock in their heads when they know it’s time to go back to get ready for the season.  Jason understands that and if he isn’t back by July, then I think he will stay retired.”

Kelce, a beloved figure in Philadelphia and a key leader on the Eagles” roster announced his retirement earlier in the offseason after a distinguished 11-year career with the team.

Throughout his career, Kelce earned widespread respect for his intelligence, toughness, and dedication to the game. He was a vital part of the Eagles” Super Bowl-winning team in the 2017 season and earned multiple Pro Bowl selections and All-Pro honors during his tenure with the team.

There’s nothing like a little sibling rivalry. Earlier this week, Eagles running back Saquon Barkley joined the Kelce brothers’ New Heights podcast and posed an important question: who would win a drinking contest?

“I’m pretty sure I’ve beaten Jason the last three to five times,” Travis claimed. However, Jason was rather adamant that wasn’t true.. “This is completely made up,” he quipped back. “First of all, what’s the competition? You’re talking about chugging a beer?”

When Barkley confirmed this imaginary competition was, in fact, chugging a beer, Jason stood his ground and said he could “definitely drink more volume—I don’t think that’s a question.”

While that might have previously been the case, Travis wasn’t buying it—especially now that the brothers are in similar weight classes. “You’re already down to 260,” he noted, to which Jason snapped back, “But you don’t have the heart I do when it comes to drinking.”

Although Travis claimed that Jason hasn’t been out past 10 p.m. since “2017,” Jason was quick to remind his little bro of his playoff antics.

The now-retired Philadelphia Eagles player was caught on camera chugging beers shirtless during Travis’ games and even stumbled through Vegas wearing a luchador mask after the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win.

As for a real drinking game, versus the good old-fashioned chug off, Jason said he could “destroy” Travis he has “the mental advantage.”

Ultimately, the Kelces decided to leave the debate up in the air until they can actually compete. “We’re going to enter ourselves in this drinking contest. Maybe at the shore or something,” Travis said.

And while we’re still unsure who would win in a drinking game, we might have to put our money on Travis if it came to an eating contest. The Chiefs tight end has reportedly polished off a 30-slice pizza from a restaurant in Cincinnati, People reports.

This content is imported from instagram. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

“I’ve seen you eat a full Bearcat all by yourself,” Jason said of the pie, which serves 10 to 12 people (or one Travis Kelce). “You were enormous. Might’ve been the most impressive physical feat I’ve ever seen you do.”

  • Jason Kelce’s Advice To Saquan Barkley In Philadelphia

Going from New York to Philadelphia may just be a short drive through New Jersey, but the sports markets are significantly different from each other. Recognizing this, Jason Kelce’s advice for Saquon Barkley offered a great point from the Eagles’ legend.

Appearing on brothers Jason and Travis Kelce’s podcast, New Heights, Jason wasted no time pointing out something very important for Barkley to know about football in Philadelphia. In fact, the success of the “Tush Push” that he spearheaded with quarterback Jalen Hurts, simply could not be matched anyplace else. It also couldn’t be stopped.

This led to Kelce’s words of wisdom for #26.

Jason Kelce’s Advice To Help Saquon Barkley

“I do have one piece of advice, do not go down at the one yard line. You gotta go down at the two.”

Barkley nods his head in agreement saying, “Don’t go down at the one. Gotta find a away to get in the end zone,” Barkley said.

Sure, they all laughed at this part of the conversation, and it might have seemed tongue-in-cheek. However, it’s actually a great point. The reason is that at the one-yard line, there’s only one play the Eagles tend to call. That would be the “Tush Push.”

Jason Kelce told a story during this episode, saying that he would feel bad and even humorously apologize to the running backs in the huddle when their signature play was called. The offense could have run the ball successfully ten times to get down to the goal line, but if the ball is at the one, the play and touchdown is going to Hurts.

Last season (2023), Jalen Hurts had 15 rushing touchdowns. The prior year, he had 13. For context and comparison, the Eagles’ starting running back last year D’Andre Swift had five rushing touchdowns last year. In 2022, starter Miles Sanders had 11.

Considering the circumstances Barkley had to deal with (poor offensive line and injuries) Saquon Barkley had a good 2023 NFL season. He had 962 yards and six rushing touchdowns on the year.

Barkley was the number two overall pick by the Giants in 2018. He played six years in New York before signing a new three-year deal with the Eagles on March 13.

Now, Barkley is returning home to Pennsylvania. He was a star back for Penn State from 2015-2017. Prior to that, Barkley spent his early years in the Lehigh Valley region of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Coming to Philadelphia certainly has many attractive elements for Barkley. With so many offensive weapons and a solid line, Barkley’s job may feel easier than ever before. Once the 2024 season rolls around, there is one thing you can count on, Barkley certainly won’t go down at the one when he plays against the Giants.

5 EARTH-SHAKING PREDICTIONS FOR THE 2024 NFL DRAFT

We’re coming up on the 2024 NFL Draft, and those who are going through football withdrawals, like me, are so ready for it. The next best thing to watching the games is taking in all the draft action, so it can’t come soon enough. The NFL Draft, after all, is really the main event of the offseason. Also, now that we know which new players teams have picked up in free agency, we have a few more clues about which players teams might swoop up during the draft.

    2024 NFL Draft Details

Detroit will host the 2024 NFL Draft. The event, presented by Bud Light, will take place from April 25 through 27, and it’s free to attend. Attendees may register for free entry by downloading the NFL OnePass app or via the web at NFL.com/DraftAccess. Also, all adults are required to register to attend and may also register up to five kids to get into the event. Fans must download the NFL OnePass app or register via the website to enter the 2024 NFL Draft Experience, presented by Rocket Mortgage. In doing so, they’ll also receive digital content and enter for a chance to win exclusive prizes, according to the official NFL website. For fans who don’t have a smartphone, registration is also available on the NFL’s website via their Fan Services.

In addition to the main attraction, the 2024 NFL Draft Experience, presented by Rocket Mortgage, will happen throughout the entire event. The free event will offer “immersive exhibits and sponsor activations,” including the chance to “take photos with the Vince Lombardi Trophy; enjoy the youth-focused Play 60 Zone; shop exclusive merchandise at the NFL Shop presented by Visa; and score autographs from current NFL players and Legends at the Autograph Stage,” according to the NFL’s website.

5 Earth-Shaking Predictions for the 2024 NFL Draft

So, 257 players are slated to be part of the draft, and they’ll be called over seven rounds. Of course, quarterbacks usually get a lot of play, and this year, 11 quarterbacks will be anxiously anticipating their new homes. I’ve put together five wild predictions for the NFL Draft this year, plus some under-the-radar predictions. These players could really change the strength and chemistry of the teams to which they’re assigned. So, even if these aren’t totally shocking picks, I think what they’ll bring to their teams will be earth-shaking. Football season can’t come soon enough.

Chicago Bears – QB Caleb Williams, USC

It’s no secret that the Bears have their sights set on Caleb Williams of USC. They traded Justin Fields to the Steelers to put the focus on Williams and his future with the team. All eyes will be on him next season. He’ll be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Washington Commanders – QB Jaylen Daniels, LSU

The Washington Commanders need some help. So do all the teams who are picking first in the draft, of course. But, the Commanders have been trying to rebuild for years now. There are rumors that the Commanders could trade the No. 2 pick, but I don’t think so. Especially after trading Sam Howell to the Seahawks, it seems like they’re keeping their No. 2 pick. Chances are, they’ll snag quarterback Jaylen Daniels of LSU.

Arizona Cardinals – WR Marvin Harrison Jr., Ohio State

The Arizona Cardinals will get the No. 4 pick, and they’ll have a few different options. It will be one of the more interesting draft picks. But, to me, it seems like going with WR Marvin Harrison Jr. of Ohio State is a no-brainer. He’ll help strengthen their offense in a big way.

Los Angeles Chargers – WR Malik Nabers, LSU

New head coach Jim Harbaugh will have some fun with the NFL Draft this year. The Chargers really need some good pass catchers, so it seems like Malik Nabers of LSU would be the perfect fit. He’ll be the strongest WR they have, to boot.

New York Giants – QB J.J. McCarthy, Michigan

The New York Giants are in a bind due to Daniel Jones and his injuries. So, snagging J.J. McCarthy of Michigan would be a smart move. They’ll be able to do that, based on the order they are in the draft. It will be interesting to see what consistency this Michigan guy can bring to the team.

    Under-The-Radar Picks: Detroit Lions

One under-the-radar pick is possibly the Detroit Lions picking up EDGE Chop Robinson of Penn State. They already have one of the best EDGE players in the league with Aiden Hutchinson, and adding Robinson would add fuel to that fire. Their defense could get the boost they need to get to the Big Game.

    Under-The-Radar Picks: Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles could bring on CB Nate Wiggins of Clemson. Their secondary needs major help, and Wiggins will be one of the best corners in the 2024 draft, so why not go for it? I’d be surprised to see them pick anyone else in the first round.

    Under-The-Radar Picks: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could use a good CB, and Kool-Aid McKinstry of Alabama fits the bill. They traded Carlton Davis to the Lions, so the Buccaneers need to pick up a CB with their pick. McKinstry is solid, and they’ll put him to work on day one.

    Under-The-Radar Picks: Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are in a curious position, in that they had a strong season, so they don’t get a high draft pick, but they still need to add some extra talent. One smart choice would be OT Troy Fautanu of Washington. This move would put him back together with his college offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb.

    Under-The-Radar Picks: Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders need some help in the CB department, and they’ll hit that sweet spot in the draft where they’ll be able to pick up Quinyon Mitchell of Toledo. He’s going to be the first cornerback picked in the 2024, in my opinion. Others agree, too. The Raiders will be a good fit for him.

Recently retired Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro center Jason Kelce is reportedly in consideration for an already taken role on ESPN‘s ‘Monday Night Football,’ according to the Athletic‘s Andrew Marchand.

ESPN is reportedly “aggressively pursuing” Kelce, 37, for the pregame analyst role currently held by former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III as part of the network’s plans for a possible shakeup. Former NFL All-Pro wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald‘s status is also in question as he is currently in a part-time role with ‘Monday Night Football’ and not under contract.

NBCCBS and ESPN were reportedly “the likeliest landing spots” for Kelce following his retirement on March 4, according to Marchand. Kelce, who already host the popular podcast, ‘New Heights,’ alongside his brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, is expected “to make millions” during his initial post-retirement NFL media gig with one of the three networks. NBCCBS and ESPN‘s NFL pregame shows are filmed in the northeast, which would be a reasonable commute for Kelce from the Philadelphia area, as noted by Marchand.

NBC added former New England Patriots cornerback Devin McCourty to its roster last offseason and CBS will could several potential openings on its pregame panel with Nate BurlesonBill CowherBoomer Esiason and Phil Simms all facing free agency.

“While NBC and CBS are viewed as the favorites, ESPN is always a stalking horse and has interest. It has a variety of shows from its marquees on Sunday and Monday to its daily NFL programs,” Marchand wrote on Monday.

Kelce officially announced his retirement during a press conference on March 4. The Ohio native is one of the most celebrated players in Eagles history, starting at center in all 193 games of his 13-year NFL career, including the franchise’s lone Super Bowl victory in Super Bowl LII, while being selected as a first-team All-Pro six times (2017-19, 2021-23) and Pro Bowler seven times (2014, 2016, 2019-23).

In January, Kelce, spoke with the Philadelphia Inquirer‘s Olivia Reiner while attending the AFC Championship Game in support of his brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and acknowledged that he still hadn’t decided on retirement but plans to continue being “involved” in the Eagles organization.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen for me. But I do know, I still want to be involved in the organization and still want to be a part of it, regardless of what the decision is. Because I don’t want to ever feel like I’m on the outside looking in on these achievements and these accolades and these opportunities that largely represent entire cities and fan bases and organizations. It’s too good a feeling to pass up,” Kelce said.

Jason had previously addressed reports that he plans to retire during an episode of his and Travis’ ‘New Heights’ podcast, clarifying that he did address his teammates after the Eagles’ Wild Card Round loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but hadn’t yet made an official decision on his future.

“I didn’t announce what I was doing on purpose, despite, I guess, what’s been leaked to the media,” he said “… I just don’t think you’re in a position after a game like that to really make that decision, I just don’t, there’s too much emotion in the moment, there’s too much going down in the moment to really fully grasp that decision.”

“When it’s time to officially announce what’s happening in the future, it’ll be done in a way that’s definitive and pays respect to a lot of people and individuals that have meant a lot to me and what has led to the career I’ve had, and I don’t think it would be respectful or even accurate to be able to do that right after a game like that,” he added. “Frustrated, I guess, at everything that’s happening, but in the future there will be something said, I guess, but I did address the team and pretty much said the same thing I just said to you, which is I got belief in every single one of you guys, cherish the moments you have in this league, I think it’s kind of the way it went down.”

  • Jason Kelce stepping into hosting career after retirement from football

Jason Kelce stepping into hosting career after retirement from football

Jason Kelce is getting into the hosting game.

The 36-year-old former NFL player is being tapped to co-host Monday Night Football’s pregame show, according to Us Weekly, just less than a week after retirement from football.

The Athletic, outlet that first broke the news, claims that Thursday Night Football runners like CBS, NBC and Prime Video are also trying to onboard the recently-retired Eagles star.

According to The Athletic, networks are waiting to finalise their plans for the upcoming season to see where Kelce lands, making his inevitable acquisition the “linchpin” of the broadcasting offseason.

The outlet also claims that Kelce would effectively take the place of former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III if hired by ESPN for the Monday Night Countdown.

However, the New Heights co-host has done some preparation for a TV gig in the past.

In April 2023, Kelce was one of 25 players, current or former, who attended the NFL’s Broadcasting and Media Workshop.

Players had the opportunity to call games on radio and television over the three-day initiative, and they also got to practise being studio analysts.

“This is all new territory for me. I have even more respect for it now,” Kelce said of the experience at that time.

“It’s very hard to do something live, reactive of stimulus that just happened and having something clever and meaningful to say.”

    kelce

Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox are slated to be a part of the Philadelphia Phillies’ first-pitch ceremony for the team’s game against the Atlanta Braves.

But don’t expect the recently retired Eagles center to be firing one down the pipe. In fact, Kelce told fans he won’t be throwing a pitch at all. That, he said, will be something that Cox has to handle for him.

    Why?

“To be clear (Fletcher Cox) is gonna have to throw it because my elbow doesn’t work,” Kelce wrote on X, formerly Twitter. It makes perfect sense that a guy who spent 13 years as one of the best centers in the NFL might have some physical ailments, and you hope that Kelce can get that elbow fixed up sometime down the road. But fans saw an opening with his post.

“Unretire and you won’t have to do it til next year,” one person responded.

“He said ‘my elbow doesn’t work’ like it’s raining outside,” another person wrote. “Hey man. Wanna throw the first pitch? Eh. My elbow doesn’t work. My henchmen can throw though. Like it’s not a big deal.”

Several fans — some with user names on X far too inappropriate to write here — came up with the idea of Kelce snapping the ball to Cox who would then make the pitch.

    Doesn’t really matter, though.

Kelce and Cox are Philly legends so you know fans are going to be loving this.

Jason Kelce warned against taking huge TV role as Philadelphia Eagles return urged

Jason Kelce has been urged to reject a tempting TV role amid speculations about his return to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Having recently decided to retire from the NFL in an emotional press conference, Kelce has already been asked to return to the Eagles. Saquon Barkley, who has just joined the Philadelphia franchise from the New York Giants, wants to play alongside Kelce.

Jason Kelce has been urged to think twice about working for ESPN by a former employee

This is happening while several broadcasters are fighting for his on-screen talents, as he’s now free to sign up with new organisations. Kelce is one of American football’s most popular stars and hosts the ‘New Heights’ podcast with brother Travis.

That’s why ESPN, NBC, CBS, and Amazon Prime Video all want to get Kelce as a broadcaster for the 2024 NFL season, according to The Athletic. The former centre did a stint with Amazon Prime last season during the Eagles’ bye week, but ESPN is striving hard not to let their major rivals nab him. Yet, former ESPN worker Dan Patrick has counselled Kelce against accepting any position at his former company.

With a career spanning various prominent roles in sports broadcasting including 18 years at ESPN, Patrick currently hosts The Dan Patrick Show on Premiere Radio Networks, streamed on Peacock, and used to co-present NBC’s Football Night in America.

The 66-year-old, who knows a lot about the business, has warned Kelce to be careful with any offers from ESPN. “You have to be ready for what they are going to ask you to do,” Patrick said on his show. “You don’t just come in and do Monday Night Countdown. There’s so much more they’ll ask you to do.

“It’s called the car wash for a reason. You go in and you’ll be on this show and this show and this show and this show. You’re at their demand.”

Kelce is looking forward to a summer without football for the first time in 13 years and might not make any quick decisions. His podcast ‘New Heights’ is also important and will be part of any talks. But Barkley hopes Kelce will play one more season.

Barkley voiced his excitement about the coming season on ‘New Heights’ and his hopes that Kelce would continue playing for the Eagles. “I’m like a kid in a candy store. I’m happy. I got a fresh start. I can’t wait to meet everybody and just go out there and play ball,” said Barkley on his move to Philadelphia.
