Basketball player Klay Thompson has a new fan in Stephen Curry’s son Canon.

In an adorable video shared by the NBA account on Instagram, the 4-year-old can be seen expressing his admiration for his dad’s fellow Golden State Warriors teammate after the team defeated the Boston Celtics on Saturday night at the Chase Center in San Francisco.

While holding Curry’s hand as the group appeared to head into the locker room following the game, Canon turned around and said to the L.A. native, “Hello, Klay Thompson.”

Accompanied by a laugh from the people who witnessed the cute moment, Thompson, 32, responded to Canon, “Hey, what’s up man?”

Curry, 34, and Thompson have been teammates for the Warriors for over 10 seasons. On Tuesday, the NBA announced Thompson had become the 13th player in league history to “surpass 2000 career triples.”

In addition to Canon, Curry shares daughters Riley, 10, and Ryan, 7, with his wife Ayesha Curry.

Speaking to E! News at the Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year Awards earlier this month, the 4-time NBA champion shared his children’s opinion of him.

Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE’s free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from juicy celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.

Asked if his children are as “impressed” with him “as other people are,” Curry, the honoree for the evening, said, “I would hope to say yes but probably for different reasons. I don’t think they care too much about how many times the ball goes in the basket.”

The father of three added, “They’ve been to a couple parades and all that, so they enjoy the festivities of celebrating a championship. But when you’re at home you’re just Dad and that’s the best part about it.”

“You get to watch them grow and blossom and find their personality and support them and have fun with them. They like my goofiness and the way you just show up at home more than anything,” he explained.

As for whether his children are budding athletes themselves, he said Riley is currently “interested in volleyball” while Ryan “is still figuring out if sports is her thing or not. Obviously, there’s no right or wrong answer there.”

He also said Canon is “pretty athletic from what I can see,” before adding, “There’s no pressure either way. We just want them to find what they love and support them.”

Curry also credited his family for their support over his career, calling them “the gas in the engine” for giving him “the space to invest in my craft, and the amount of sacrifice it takes to work at that level, but also the unconditional support of wins, losses, great games, bad games, they’re there and I hope to be there for them in all that life throws at us.”

He conceded that basketball “is gonna end at some point,” but he’s looking forward to sharing his experiences with his children.

LeBron James Gives Out Pizza on the Street, Playing the Role of a Delivery Guy. “No, I’m Ron. I don’t know who LeBron is.”

Recently, Blaze Pizza owner and basketball superstar LeBron James (they don’t call him the King for nothing) distributed complimentary slices of the chain’s new 14-inch pies throughout the streets of Cleveland.

Monday’s Twitter video of a one-minute clip featured LeBron—or should I say Ron—surprising supporters with a stack of ‘za boxes as a greeting. The Lakers star halted pedestrians while posing as his delivery man persona, complete with a customized hat and all, in order to distribute entire pizzas and, of course, take selfies. Everyone terrified TF with the exception of the indifferent individual who completely disregarded him.

“Hello, my name is Ron, and what’s going on?” he inquired, before launching into an elaborate spiel: “At this time, Blaze is providing a sizable, shareable pizza made with real ingredients. Without a doubt, none of that hardened crust is present. “Allow me to demonstrate two exquisite and distinctive toppings that we carry: arugula and artichoke.”

Evidently, genuine fans did not believe into the entire Ron persona hoax; I mean, he was merely donning a hat to conceal his identity. However, he declined to violate his integrity. “In contrast, my name is Ron. “I am unaware of LeBron’s identity,” he replied in response to a fan’s expression of appreciation using his actual name. From x, this content has been imported. It is possible that additional information or the same content presented in an alternative format could be located on their website.LeBron James tweeted a repost of the advertisement with the following response: “What can I say?! Ron is an ordinary person. “That LARGE new pizza from BlazePizza is on its way in.”

The 14-inch pizzas are now available as build-your-own or as one of Blaze’s signature ‘zas, including the meat aficionado, green strip, veg out, or BBQ chicken, according to a representative for the brand. Interested in knowing what LeBron James’ preferred order is?

LeBron James’ recent Instagram post sparked speculation among Lakers fans, suggesting a subtle response to NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal’s comments about James lacking the ability to instill fear in opponents.

“Why is this so funny to me!!”

While the debate stirred Lakers fans, LeBron seemingly fired back with an Instagram story highlighting a remarkable statistic. James showcased his impressive streak of consecutive double-digit scoring games, surpassing the length of Shaquille O’Neal’s entire NBA career. The juxtaposition of this milestone against O’Neal’s career prompted speculation about James’ response to the criticism.

In his caption, LeBron expressed amusement at the absurdity of the comparison, adding a touch of humor to the situation. The post subtly underscored LeBron’s enduring impact and longevity in the league, contrasting with O’Neal’s career trajectory.

O’Neal’s remarks on his podcast about the fear factor associated with basketball greats like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant led to scrutiny over LeBron’s perceived impact on the court.

In a conversation with Mario Chalmers, O’Neal questioned whether players truly feared James, contrasting the fear-inducing presence of Jordan and Bryant. Chalmers echoed similar sentiments, suggesting that James’ desire to be liked may have contributed to his perceived lack of intimidation.

Despite the apparent tit-for-tat exchange, LeBron’s former teammate Channing Frye offered a different perspective on the debate. Frye highlighted LeBron’s cerebral approach to the game, emphasizing his track record as a proven winner. He noted that even at 39, opposing teams remain wary of facing LeBron in crucial playoff matchups, suggesting that fear manifests differently in James’ style of play.

While the debate over LeBron’s perceived fear factor continues, his focus remains on leading the Lakers to success in his 21st NBA season. As the Lakers strive to secure playoff positioning, LeBron’s impact on the court transcends mere statistics, embodying a winning mentality and a relentless pursuit of excellence that defines his storied career.

There Is Only Team In The West That Does Not Fear LeBron James

Despite the Los Angeles Lakers’ middling performance this season, sitting at the 10th spot in the competitive Western Conference with a record of 36-32, there’s one undeniable truth: no team in the West takes LeBron James lightly. While the Lakers may be destined for the play-in tournament and potentially a lower playoff seed, their presence in the postseason remains formidable, largely due to the indomitable force of LeBron James.

Despite their average season, the Lakers remain a formidable opponent for any team in the playoffs, except perhaps the Denver Nuggets, who have managed to beat them in their last eight encounters. The reason behind this lingering fear? LeBron James, the King himself.

In his remarkable 21st year in the league, LeBron continues to defy age and expectations, averaging an impressive 25.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game. What’s more astonishing is his efficiency, shooting an impressive 53.0% from the field and 40.6% from beyond the arc, a testament to his enduring greatness and unparalleled skill set.

What truly sets LeBron apart, however, is not just his individual prowess, but his wealth of playoff experience, which rivals entire franchises. Having been to more NBA Finals than 27 out of the 30 teams in NBA history, LeBron’s postseason pedigree is unparalleled. His mere presence on the court instills fear in opponents, transcending individual matchups to strike fear into the hearts of entire teams.

In the crucible of the playoffs, experience often proves to be the difference-maker, and LeBron James possesses it in abundance. His ability to elevate his game when it matters most, coupled with his unparalleled basketball IQ and leadership, makes him a force to be reckoned with, regardless of the Lakers’ regular-season performance.

So, while the Lakers may have had an up-and-down season, one thing remains certain: in the wild, unpredictable landscape of the Western Conference playoffs, no team dares to underestimate the formidable presence of LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.

LeBron James and JJ Redick are launching a basketball conversation podcast, beginning on Tuesday.

    lebron james jj redick
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and JJ Redick are launching a podcast, Mind the Game, with the first episode set to debut on Tuesday.
The Athletic first reported the collaboration.

The episodes will be comprised of extensive basketball-centric conversations over wine, featuring LeBron, Redick, and LeBron’s business partner (and co-host of The Shop), Maverick Carter.

“It’s meant to be a very free-flowing conversation about the sport and about the game,” Redick told the Athletic. “If you look at it in a very simplistic way, it’s just about basketball.”

Redick played in the NBA for 15 seasons and now works as a color analyst on the A-team for ESPN/ABC’s NBA coverage. He hosts a popular hoops podcast, The Old Man and The Three, under his ThreeFourTwo Productions banner. ThreeFourTwo is co-producing Mind the Game, along with LeBron’s Uninterrupted.

“I’m really proud of what we’ve done to innovate in sports media,” LeBron said in a statement to the Athletic.

“It’s what’s NEEDED!! This is going to FUN!!” LeBron wrote on X.

A clip was released on Monday, in which LeBron and JJ break down defensive coverages.

“When I do a project, the only thing I think about is whether me and my friends would watch it. That is definitely the case with ‘Mind the Game.’ Everything doesn’t need to be designed for internet culture and clicks.”

“This is like two wine masters, sommeliers, talking about wine, not necessarily you or me arguing if I like Burgundy or Bordeaux better,” Carter added.

The Lakers (36-32) are currently percentage points behind the Golden State Warriors for the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference. (LeBron was seen joking with Redick, on the ABC call, during the late-game time stoppages in the Lakers’ loss to the Warriors on Saturday).

In his 21st season, LeBron is averaging 25.5 points, 8.1 assists, and 7.2 rebounds. After Monday’s game vs. the Atlanta Hawks, the Lakers will have 13 games remaining in the 2023-24 NBA season.

Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell launched his own podcast, the Backyard, in December.

Finally, we’ll be able to see if LeBron can handle launching a podcast and leading his team to the playoffs at the same time. Michael Jordan never did that.

Christian Wood has been out of action for several weeks as the Los Angeles Lakers have had to turn the car keys completely over to Jaxson Hayes. When Wood first hit the shelf, the injury seemed rather minor with the expectation that he would return before the end of the regular season.

The hope of the injury being minor may have been misplaced as the deck is stacked against Wood to play before the end of the regular season, or in the NBA Playoffs for that matter. Woods will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee and will be sidelined for several more weeks.

The last regular season game of the season is on April 14, which is less than one full month from the day that it was announced that Wood would have the procedure. Him returning for the NBA Playoffs is not impossible but the Lakers should prepare for the worst.

And for the purple and gold, that means adding center depth in any way possible while Wood is sidelined. The options at this point in the season obviously are not great (to the point where fans legitimately want to see a Dwight Howard return); but there is one option that at least provides some promise.

Lakers must sign Chimezie Metu after Christian Wood injury update

Of the available options at the center position the 26-year-old Los Angeles native makes the most sense for the purple and gold. Metu, who grew up in Los Angeles and played his college ball at USC, has more in the gas tank than these veteran centers who are holding on to their NBA careers by a thread.

Metu actually has NBA minutes this season to bank on as he started the season with the Phoenix Suns. Phoenix signed Metu as a depth center over the offseason and despite flashes, it never quite panned out for the young center. He was traded and waived at the deadline.

Metu obviously would not reinvent the Lakers’ rotation but he could at least give the Lakers some depth as a security blanket with Wood being out of action. He is an athletic-enough big man who is good enough on the boards, plays serviceable defense for a big and is not a liability from the charity stripe.

It does not have to be a long-term commitment for the Lakers, either. Los Angeles can sign Metu to a 10-day contract to help the team get through this current stretch without Wood. If Metu impresses on the first 10-day then he could sign a second one. If he fits well in this rotation, the Lakers could look to create roster space to bring him in for the playoffs.

Having multiple bigs to just throw at Nikola Jokic and rough him up is not a bad thing and it is what helped the Lakers get through the Denver Nuggets in the 2020 Western Conference Finals. If Wood is not going to return then retaining Metu would almost be a necessity.

The Lakers need to be proactive with moves like this and not reactive. Signing Metu may not seem like a big needle mover but it would still have a positive impact on the team as a whole.

“Felt the Same Way About Michael Jordan”: When Larry Bird Pointed Out Kobe Bryant’s Weakness While Facing the Celtics in 2008 NBA Finals

The 2008 NBA Finals showcased the storied Lakers-Celtics rivalry, with Kobe Bryant leading the Lakers and Kevin Garnett leading the Celtics. Despite the Lakers featuring a strong defensive lineup, the Celtics came out on top. In Larry Bird’s book, “When the Game Was Ours,” he praises the Celtics’ defensive intensity and highlights Lamar Odom’s inability to make an impact.

Bird also compares Kobe Bryant to Michael Jordan, noting that Kobe dominated the ball and had to shoulder the entire offense, which he sees as a weakness. Bird believes that a collective team effort is necessary to win championships.

In a 2015 interview, Bryant reflects on the 2008 Finals loss and his determination to improve. He goes on to win two consecutive championships and ends his career with five rings.

HOLD ME BACK! Official camera recorded the moment of action of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s brother before the shocking brawl in the NBA – News

Following the altercation on the court during the Bucks-Pacers game, more chaos ensued. The TV cameras captured the furious reaction of Giannis Antetetokounmpo’s brother to the on-court skirmish. Giannis was fouled hard, leading to a scuffle in the Bucks’ victory over the Indiana Pacers. This was the same game where he scored a franchise-record of 64 points.

During the scuffle, Pacers’ small forward Aaron Nesmith wrapped his arms around Giannis and took him to the ground. Giannis’ brother, Thanasis, attempted to rush to his defense but was held back by his teammate, Jae Crowder.

Lonzo Ball hails from a long line of basketball greats and plays point guard for the Chicago Bulls

Both of Lonzo’s parents, LaVar and Tina Ball, played collegiate basketball for Cal State Los Angeles in the ’80s and ’90s. The ambition of having three basketball superstar boys became LaVar’s after they tied the knot in 1997. Since his three boys, Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo, started making waves in the NBA in 2015, he has been forthright and unrepentant about his family’s goal.

“Speak it into existence,” LaVar said in 2017 when asked about his aspirations for the basketball court. “Keep talking about it until it happens.”Lonzo, the first of his father’s prophesies, was born in October 1997. He decided to play basketball at UCLA as a sophomore in high school and was drafted to the NBA after only one season of college.

LaVar Ball, LaMelo Ball and LiAngelo Ball pose for a portrait with Lonzo Ball after being drafted number two overall to the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2017 NBA Draft on June 22, 2017.

Even though he never got on the court for the Bruins, Lonzo’s younger brother LiAngelo also committed to UCLA as a sophomore. His signing with the Astros De Jalisco, a professional baseball team in Mexico, was announced in February 2024. In 2020, the Charlotte Hornets drafted LaMelo Ball, the youngest of the three brilliant Ball brothers.Even though the Ball sons have become rather successful, LaVar, the patriarch of the family, keeps setting even higher standards. The father-of-three expressed his desire to witness all three of his boys play for the same NBA team in a January 2021 interview with The Association on Fox.

    Lonzo Ball family

“Nobody has ever built a franchise around a family,” stated LaVar. That is why I am urging you to try something different. Gather around the Ball lads and see what transpires.

Everything yоu ever wаnted tо knоw аbоut Lоnzо Bаll’s fаmily, frоm their bаsketbаll cаreers tо their reаlity TV lives, is right here.”I knew my kids wоuld be bаsketbаll stаrs,” LаVаr sаid.While both Tina and LaVar were Cal State Los Angeles student athletes, they initially crossed paths. It was Tina’s 6-foot size, not her attractive appearance, that drew the attention of the former collegiate basketball player.

While making a joke with the Orange County Register in 2017, LaVar said, “I keep telling people, I picked her for the genes.”.

“When I first saw her walking down the hall, I just stopped and I said, ‘I don’t know what me and you are going to do together, but we’re going to do something.’” (LaVar added in another interview with USA Today) As for what they planned to accomplish together, LaVar did not specify.

LaMelo Ball, Liangelo Ball and Lonzo Ball attend the World Premiere Of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures "Avengers: Endgame"

As far as LaVar and Tina are concerned, that “something” was the birth of their three basketball-star sons. That is just what the newlyweds did after exchanging vows in 1997.

“That’s why I married my wife … with the way I’m built, and the way she’s built, I knew I was going to have three killers,” LaVar said in 2015 to CBS Sports. It was planned a long time ago, then. This is what you get when you combine two basketball players, I always knew it.

LaVar’s time in the NFL was cut short. In the early 1990s, LaVar had a brief career as a professional football player before establishing his family’s basketball legend. The New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL) signed LaVar as a free agent in 1994 after he played one season of collegiate football at Long Beach City College following the conclusion of his collegiate basketball career, per ESPN.

LaVar was a member of the practice squads of the New York Jets for two seasons and the Carolina Panthers for one. By the decade’s close, LaVar had finished his football career with the London Monarchs of the World League of American Football, although he had returned to California to pursue a career in personal training.

Margaux Jones, a former Jets linebacker, reminisced about LaVar’s tenure with the organization. He possessed an abundance of natural athleticism… According to what Jones told ESPN in 2017, the man was “very confident,” “yes, he voiced his opinion and was cocky,” but otherwise he appeared like a nice guy.

Recruits from UCLA were all three Ball brothers.

Despite Lonzo’s brief stint at UCLA, his younger brothers continued his career in the NBA. During his second year of high school in April 2015, LiAngelo reportedly committed to play at UCLA. This information was reported by the Los Angeles Times.

“Two down, one to go,” LaVar informed the media.

The third, LaMelo, came a few months later; according to Sports Illustrated, in August 2015, at the tender age of thirteen, LaMelo and his two elder brothers verbally committed to play college basketball for UCLA.

“It is my dream school,” LaMelo told the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin. “I decided to get it out of the way now instead of waiting for the future.”

Having said that, LaMelo and LiAngelo never suited up for UCLA. When LiAngelo and two teammates were on a team trip to China in November 2017, they were arrested on suspicion of shoplifting. According to ESPN, LiAngelo was placed on indefinite suspension from the team after returning to Los Angeles and being freed by Chinese officials. Less than thirty days after that, LaVar pulled him out of UCLA.

In December 2017, LaMelo revoked his verbal commitment to UCLA. This came after he was found ineligible for an NCAA scholarship due to his involvement with his family’s sports apparel firm, BBB, and his employment of an agent. According to the Los Angeles Times, the two brothers inked a contract to play professional basketball in Lithuania a few days after.

After LaMelo scored 92 points in a high school game in 2017, he became an internet sensation.аfter scоring 92 pоints in а single gаme while he wаs а 15-yeаr-оld sоphоmоre аt Chinо Hills High Schооl, LаMelо gаined nаtiоnаl nоtice. Melo and Lonzo broke NBA records.

Both LaMelo and his brother Lonzo made history in the 2020 NBA Draft when the Charlotte Hornets took him third overall. This was according to Sports Illustrated. In 2017, Lonzo was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the second overall pick.

The NBA season has gotten off to a good start for LaMelo. After being named to the All-Star team the year after being crowned Rookie of the Year in 2020, he continued his success in 2021. After injuring his ankle in the middle of a game against the Detroit Pistons in February 2023, LaMelo left the season early.

After sitting out for twenty games, the point guard got back on the court in January of 2024.

While at practice, Lоnzо gоt a text message frоm a relative infоrming him abоut his mоther’s health.

While taking care of Tina, LaVar, Lonzo, and their brothers would visit her in the evenings following practice. The father of three urged his sons to remain focused on basketball.

‘You guys do what y’all do.’ That’s what I tell my lads. “I got your mama,” LaVar confessed to the media.

Lonzo did not discuss his mother’s illness in his postgame interviews, although he did provide an update to ESPN in May 2017. “At the moment, she is unable to communicate,” Lonzo stated. Nonetheless, she is very receptive to our words, and her constant smiles prove it. So, that’s a positive aspect.
