LeBron James is shooting his shot in the grooming world.

The NBA All-Star, 39, is making his debut with the launch of The Shop, a seven-set collection of hair and skincare products inspired by his award-winning TV talk show of the same name.

The Shop was created in partnership with James’ longtime friend and business partner Maverick Carter, who spoke with PEOPLE exclusively at the launch event in New York City about the their new venture and how their brand “naturally” came to be.

“There was no aha moment, there was more of a feeling,” Carter says of creating the barbershop-inspired brand. He credits the “ethos” of The Shop for being what the line strives to accomplish: “bringing communities together” and “empowering them through conversations.”

The James-led series, co-created by Paul Rivera and Randy Mims, premiered on HBO in August 2018 and is now in its seventh season. Filmed in a barbershop setting, James and Carter invite guests — like Tom Brady, Drake, Quinta Brunson and David Beckham — to converse, debate and inspire through roundtable conversations.

“Through filming The Shop and through some of those conversations, we started realizing there may be an opportunity,” Rivera tells PEOPLE while sitting alongside Carter. “And to Maverick’s point, it just felt very authentically connected to the brand, The Shop experience.”

Although James wasn’t at the N.Y.C. launch event himself (due the Laker’s victorious away game against the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday night) Rivera assured he was involved “every step of the way” by providing input and feedback since their very first meeting about the venture.

“He was very clear on what he’d like to see in a product,” continues Rivera. “There wasn’t anything that he wasn’t a part of.”

The Los Angeles Lakers star’s involvement was no shock to his childhood friend Carter, who doubles as the CEO of James’ multimedia SpringHill Company co-founded by the pair 2020. “Nothing surprises me, but what continues to astonish me is his commitment and dedication,” Carter says of the athlete.

“He’s the most committed and dedicated person that I’ve ever seen, and that’s why he’s such a high achiever,” Carter continues. “I think there’ll be much more for fans to learn about him as his [NBA] career winds down and he goes into the next chapters of his life and career.”

The high-performance products are designed for all men — addressing various needs for their skin, hair and beard. It’s made with multi-beneficial, nourishing vegan and cruelty-free formulas that are soft on the skin, and simple and effective to use.

The grooming collection includes seven products: Exfoliating Face Wash, Hydrating Face Lotion, Soothing Shave Cream, Aftershave Toner, Conditioning Beard Cream, 2-in-1 Moisturizing Hair Wash and Hair Styling Pomade.

Coinciding with The Shop Men’s Grooming Line is the launch of “Be The Face,” a creative campaign (below) featuring James, Carter and Rivera aimed to empower men with the barbershop-inspired tools to be the most confident and intentional versions of themselves.

“I can remember like it was yesterday, going into the first barbershop I’ve ever been to,” James says in an exclusive video clip shared with PEOPLE. “Going into the shop, there’s a certain aura,” he continues. “That’s what heaven is all about. You just feel… untouchable.”

“We want to deliver that feeling through the products,” Carter tells PEOPLE at the launch event, adding that the goal is to “feel comfortable and confident” each day and “to be the face of whatever you choose to be.”

As for The Shop product James favors the most? “He loves them all,” Carter says on his behalf. “His grooming routine has been honed over many years of being in lots of locker rooms.”

Carter points out that The Shop Face Lotion Daily Hydrator is “very important to [LeBron],” especially when trying to “stay moist after sweating for hours and hours on a basketball court.”

Rivera jumps in: “He has a fantastic beard.” If he had to guess James’ favorite, he’d go with The Shop Beard Cream Leave In Conditioner. “He had a point of view on it as well as all the other products,” he notes.

“Men, we don’t want too much,” James says of grooming routines in the “Be the Face” video clip. “We want to be fast, quick and efficient. Get to watching our football games, getting to eat and getting to sleep.”

The Shop collection is available exclusively at Walmart starting April 1. Each product is under $10, which Carter says “was important” to them when considering price points.

“We wanted to make sure we didn’t exclude our community,” Rivera tells PEOPLE. “We’re incredibly happy with where we landed, not only from a price point standpoint but from the quality of product that we were able to provide at that price point.”

He concludes, “At our core, it is for that barbershop community.”

The NBA’s regular season tournament games will be played on courts intended to complement the uniforms worn by the players.

I hear the Lakers have a new uniform. Read on to find out more.

The courts in City Edition are nearly identical to the uniforms that come with it. The Lakers went for their classic and instantly recognizable purple and gold for this game.

Definitely a risky style, and we can’t wait to see how it fares in a real game.

However, our purpose here is to discuss the brand-new outfits, which can be purchased right this second at Fanatics.

You can observe that these uniforms include elements from different eras. Although the squad has adopted a black alternate uniform in recent years, the emblem itself is a straight throwback to the 1960s.

The Lakers’ City Edition jerseys, caps, tees, and hoodies are now available for pre-order.

    Previously on NBA City Edition

All NBA teams debuted their new uniforms in 2017 thanks to a collaboration between Nike and the NBA.

Most spectators have approved of the designs, finding symbolic resonance with the city’s history and the diehard fans who fill the arena on game days.

LeBron James Gives Out Pizza on the Street, Playing the Role of a Delivery Guy. “No, I’m Ron. I don’t know who LeBron is.”

Recently, Blaze Pizza owner and basketball superstar LeBron James (they don’t call him the King for nothing) distributed complimentary slices of the chain’s new 14-inch pies throughout the streets of Cleveland.

Monday’s Twitter video of a one-minute clip featured LeBron—or should I say Ron—surprising supporters with a stack of ‘za boxes as a greeting. The Lakers star halted pedestrians while posing as his delivery man persona, complete with a customized hat and all, in order to distribute entire pizzas and, of course, take selfies. Everyone terrified TF with the exception of the indifferent individual who completely disregarded him.

“Hello, my name is Ron, and what’s going on?” he inquired, before launching into an elaborate spiel: “At this time, Blaze is providing a sizable, shareable pizza made with real ingredients. Without a doubt, none of that hardened crust is present. “Allow me to demonstrate two exquisite and distinctive toppings that we carry: arugula and artichoke.”

Evidently, genuine fans did not believe into the entire Ron persona hoax; I mean, he was merely donning a hat to conceal his identity. However, he declined to violate his integrity. “In contrast, my name is Ron. “I am unaware of LeBron’s identity,” he replied in response to a fan’s expression of appreciation using his actual name. From x, this content has been imported. It is possible that additional information or the same content presented in an alternative format could be located on their website.LeBron James tweeted a repost of the advertisement with the following response: “What can I say?! Ron is an ordinary person. “That LARGE new pizza from BlazePizza is on its way in.”

The 14-inch pizzas are now available as build-your-own or as one of Blaze’s signature ‘zas, including the meat aficionado, green strip, veg out, or BBQ chicken, according to a representative for the brand. Interested in knowing what LeBron James’ preferred order is?

LeBron James allowed this young fan to throw an alley oop to him during pre-game practice.

Even at 39, LeBron James continues to defy his age. On Sunday, the ageless one recorded 40 points, including nine three-pointers, in a 116-104 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.

James’ nine makes from three-point range tied a career-best and put him alongside another Laker great in the record books. According to Matt Williams of ESPN, James is only the second player in the franchise’s rich history to make nine three-pointers in multiple games, joining late Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant, who accomplished the feat an incredible four times.

Meanwhile, James is the first Laker to make nine threes in a game while shooting 90 percent from beyond the arc.

A career 37.4 percent three-point shooter, James has shot at 41.6 percent this season. Which, if you’re keeping score at home, is higher than Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Stephen Curry (40.2 percent).

James also continued his domination of the fourth quarter on Sunday. Against the Nets, James scored 17 of his 40 points in the fourth quarter. He ranks fourth in the NBA with 472 points in the final stanza this year, trailing only De’Aaron Fox (478), Giannis Antetokounmpo (491) and DeMar DeRozan (496), per Kevin Anderson of NBC Sports Chicago.

Darviп Ham provides υpdate oп пext step iп rehab for Jarred Vaпderbilt…

Head coach Darvin Ham discussed Jarred Vanderbilt’s path toward returning as being similar to Gabe Vincent’s after the Lakers’ win against the Nets.

Dallas Mavericks v Los Angeles LakersPhoto by Andrew D. Bernstein/NBAE via Getty Images

The Lakers beat the Brooklyn Nets in a matchup that saw the return of Gabe Vincent after he had missed a whopping 46 games.

Vincent was solid in his 14 minutes of play, demonstrating that the Lakers had a good plan for his return from knee surgery and were able to bring him back this season, as projected.

The main question regarding the Lakers’ injury front now is Jarred Vanderbilt’s return. After the win in Brooklyn, Darvin Ham discussed the path toward Vanderbilt’s return.

“Just not to skip any steps,” Ham said. “To keep taking things day by day and don’t listen to whoever is out there putting target dates on his return. Maximize each day, try to get better each day and just stick to the plan. Gabe had to do the same. JV has to do the same thing as well. Just stick to the plan.”

Ham may not be a fan of target dates, but as earlier reported, the Lakers are aiming for a Vanderbilt return in early-to-mid April. This isn’t a shocking revelation, as that’s all that’s left of the regular season.

Vanderbilt last played on Feb. 1 against the Celtics, but he exited early due to a right mid-foot sprain. Updates since then have been sparse, but the Lakers have said Vanderbilt has been progressing upward and could return this season.

With just a handful of games left, there isn’t much time for a return, but we’re seeing more and more Vanderbilt action at Lakers practice.

Prior to the Nets matchup, Vanderbilt was also seen doing some light shooting on the floor.

While this was only set shooting, this is the first time Vando has been seen going through a workout pregame since his injury, which is a big step in and of itself.

A return by Vanderbilt would bring back not just a rotation player but a defensive wing that was integral in last season’s playoff success.

If Vincent’s successful return is any indication, fans should trust the process with Vanderbilt.

Gabe Viпceпt says he ‘felt good’ iп retυrп to coυrt vs. Nets…

After making his return to the court on Sunday against the Nets, it was all positive for Gabe Vincent and the Lakers.

The Lakers need every win they can muster to jockey for position in the Western Conference standings. However, the victory against the Nets might not be the most important aspect of the game on Sunday.

Gabe Vincent returned to the lineup in Brooklyn and gave the Lakers quality minutes. During his 14 minutes of play, he scored two points and notched one rebound, a steal and an assist.

After the game, Vincent discussed how he felt physically getting back on the court against NBA competition.

“Felt good to go out there and have a sweat, compete a little bit, get a little stat sheet going a tiny bit here and there,” Vincent said. “But it felt good to go out there and run.”

The Lakers needed these minutes from Vincent not only defensively, where he did a good job containing players like Cam Thomas, but offensively, as his two points were all the bench could score on Sunday.

The Lakers’ bench-scoring problems have been an unfortunate trend this season, but after the win, the focus from his teammates and head coach Darvin Ham surrounded Vincent’s good play.

“He was a solid,” Anthony Davis said. “Obviously, it’s a feel thing, a rhythm thing to get back out there. But he looked really (good) on both ends of the floor to me. We had some miscues. I know I did with him but that’s just coming back, being part of the team and getting reps. But overall, I think he was really solid.”

“I thought for a guy that’s been out that long, he came in, had some good possessions,” Ham added. “Defensively, he was trying to get after it. Offensively, that time is going to come. He’ll see his shot going on. But I think him just being thrown out there… he’ll get there. It’s going to take a little bit of time. What I saw is a guy trying to get his rhythm in the right area.”

Vincent’s return doesn’t mean he’s done dealing with or monitoring his rehab from knee surgery. In fact, he’s already been ruled out for Tuesday’s matchup against the Raptors, more so because it is the first game of a back-to-back and not any issues he’s dealing with after playing his first NBA minutes in months.

Vincent, back and playing well, gives Darvin Ham another crayon in the box he can use to illustrate how beautiful this team can be when everyone is available.

Ham also discussed the next steps in Jarred Vanderbilt’s rehab. With no solid date for Vanderbilt’s return, the Lakers will have to take solace in Vincent’s net positive impact on the team.

The Los Angeles Lakers are running out of time with LeBron James. With limited assets at their behest, they can only do so much in terms of talent upgrades. However, that’s not going to stop them from trying. The Athletic’s Jovan Buha reported that they have one target in mind to surround James and Anthony Davis: Trae Young.

On Buha’s YouTube Channel, he explained that the Lakers will go after a third star, and that Young’s name has come up.

“They are going third star hunting this off-season,” Buha said. “Now who’s available? The one name I continually hear is Trae Young. He’s been to Laker playoff games before, he’s a Clutch Sports client. That’s probably the most realistic one right now.”

Buha then questioned who would go back to the Atlanta Hawks in a trade for Young.

“Now, of course, whether they get him is going to come down to whether they are willing to put all three picks, two picks in a deal. Is it Austin (Reaves) and Max (Christie)? Is it just Austin? And you got to have the matching salary of course. Is that Rui (Hachimura)? Is that (Jared Vanderbilt)? Do they send (D’Angelo Russell) there as well? There’s a lot of different ways that can play out, but my understanding is yes, they are going third-star hunting.”

Young made an All-NBA team in 2022 and is in the second year of a five-year, $215 million contract.

Trae Young Responds to Lakers Trade Rumors

Young addressed the notion of going to the Lakers. While he is unsure of his future in Atlanta, he expressed his desire to win a title with the Hawks. At the same time, he wants a title period.

“They’ve never won a championship in Atlanta,” Young said in an interview with Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks on Tuesday, March 5. “Like doing that, like me getting drafted [it] felt like it was a match made in heaven. This is something I want to do. Like I can defeat the odds here too.

“So for me, my whole vision was always to be here like my goal was to win championships. Bring people here with me and build this championship [culture] here, dynasty here. But who knows, like it’s your six now. And who knows? Like for me, I want that [championship].”

Since making a surprise run to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021, the Hawks have only gone backward. They stand at 34-40, which puts them as the 10 seed in the Eastern Conference. Their struggles could lead to changes.

Laker Have Reported Interest in Trae Young

Before the NBA Trade deadline passed, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported that the Lakers had more interest in trading for a star like Young in the offseason.

“The Lakers have discussed internally the possibility of packaging three picks, along with players they already have on their books, to pursue a bona fide star, such as Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers or Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks, team sources told ESPN,” McMenamin wrote in a January 23 story.

The Lakers stood pat at the trade deadline, which could signify their confidence that they can get someone like Young this coming offseason.
