PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The Kelce brothers were honored on Tuesday night with a bobblehead night by the Cleveland Cavaliers, one day after Jason officially retired from the NFL.

Jason and Travis are Cleveland Heights, Ohio, natives, just outside the city of Cleveland. The two were both given personalized Cavs jerseys to wear during the game, similar to their bobbleheads, and the team even gave Jason Kelce a framed No. 62 jersey, the number he wore for the Eagles for 13 seasons.

“Nothing but LOVE in the land for #62. #LetEmKnow,” the Cavs posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Cavs had a tribute on the jumbotron for Jason Kelce at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse during the game vs. the Boston Celtics, which showed highlights of his childhood and football career in high school, college and the pros.

During the game, the Cavs even gave the Kelce brothers some beers on the house that didn’t last long.

Earlier Tuesday, the Kelce brothers teased a new episode of their “New Heights” podcast with Jason doing his best Bills Mafia impression and jumping through a burning table in Delaware County.

In his 13 seasons with the Birds, Jason Kelce won the franchise’s first Super Bowl in the 2017 season, earned six First-Team All-Pro nods and seven trips to the Pro Bowl.

Kelce is the fifth center in NFL history with at least six All-Pro selections. Jim Otto, Bulldog Turner, Dermotti Dawson and Jim Ringo are the others, and they’re all in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Kelce will be eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2029.

Travis and Jason Kelce appear to be joined by their mom Donna on Wednesday’s episode of New Heights, the first since Jason announced his NFL retirement.

The brothers shared a picture with Donna on their New Heights Instagram account on Tuesday afternoon, with the podcast returning after a week off. ‘New episode drops TOMORROW,’ read the caption.

On Monday, Jason tearfully announced the end of his 13-year football career with the Philadelphia Eagles at a 40-minute press conference.

Donna and Travis were in attendance to support him, as was their father Ed, and the brothers and their mom are set to reflect on the moment for the first time on this week’s episode.

Furthermore, it is the first podcast Travis has recorded since flying out to Australia to briefly join girlfriend Taylor Swift for her Eras Tour before returning to Las Vegas for an extra round of Super Bowl celebrations with the Kansas City Chiefs.

It promises to be a blockbuster episode, although Jason’s retirement will likely take center stage in the talking points.

The brothers typically record their show on Tuesday afternoons but are rarely able to be together during the NFL season.

While they reunited in Philadelphia ahead of Jason’s announcement, they are expected to be in Cleveland tonight for the Cavaliers NBA game.

Their hometown NBA team are honoring the two brothers for their game against Boston Celtics, with fans in attendance able to collect a Kelce bobblehead and buy their merch, with some of the proceeds going to charity.

It comes amid reports that the Kelce brothers could land a new $100million deal to continue producing their New Heights podcast.

They started the show in September 2022 and it has become one of the most popular sporting podcasts around, helped in no small part by Travis dating Swift.

Speaking last month about the surge in popularity of the podcast, Jason said: ‘I haven’t been this connected with Travis, over the last two years, since college.

‘And that has been one of the best things, probably the best thing, of the podcast. It forces us – because we are brothers, before this we would go months on our own without talking. We would text, send a funny video but [to] truly sit down and talk with him, it would be a long time.

‘It has been great, it’s the second year, we have gotten a lot better at it, I think. I feel like first of all we have a tremendous team – our input is very minimal, we just talk.

‘Doing this, you know once a week we are going to sit down and talk. And we are going to have very meaningful conversations, fun conversations and really know where each of us are at in our lives and that’s the most fun part about it.

‘It has reached a higher level thanks to a lot of different factors, including my brother’s love life. But I think it is fun to see people enjoy it and it is fun to see where it is at.’

Travis and Jason Kelce were met with a standing ovation at the Cavaliers’ Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse as they were honored by their hometown team on Tuesday night.

Jason announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday while his younger brother Travis is fresh off of his third Super Bowl win with the Chiefs last month.

And the brothers were cheered on by the crowd after a tribute video was shown for Jason, with the Eagles great holding up a Cleveland Heights T-shirt and Travis holding up a framed No. 62 Cavs jersey with ‘Kelce’ on it.

The brothers are Cleveland Heights, Ohio natives and lifelong fans of their hometown Cavaliers, who beat the Celtics 105-104 on Tuesday.

They both wore customized black Cavs jerseys with their respective jersey numbers on them as the crowd went wild behind their courtside seats.

The Cavs also gave away bobbleheads of them on Tuesday night, while also selling exclusive Kelce/Cavs merchandise to benefit local schools.

In a nearly two-minute long video dedicated to Jason, the Cavs included footage spanning from his childhood to his pro NFL career.

The montage also featured voiceover from his brother Travis, who said, ‘All he knew is that he was going to work hard and give it his best.

‘And sure enough I was sitting there taking notes, watching him do it.’

In another clip, the brothers could be seen chugging beers courtside, while Travis greeted Cavs star Donovan Mitchell at a different point in the game.

The brothers were also gifted with the team’s golden ball.

Earlier in the night, the NBA revealed their Kelce brother bobbleheads, which feature the siblings in black Cavs jerseys and their respective NFL jersey numbers – 87 for Travis and 62 for Jason.

On Monday, Jason beautifully summed up his career in a 45-minute retirement speech.

And his wife, Kylie, has revealed that he began working on the speech four years ago.

‘I’ve heard multiple versions over the last four years,’ Kylie told NBC 10. ‘This was a completely different version. I think every year he sort of started from scratch as to what was sitting on the surface. But when he said that he was contemplating retirement “for years”, he meant “for years.”‘

‘I think I was the only one that had heard his speech before we went into it,’ Kylie added. ‘I think it was a perfect summary of 13 years. I always say he’s not from (Philadelphia) but he gets it, so that was the perfect example.’

Jason said it was no coincidence the best years of his career happened after he met Kylie after an Eagles Christmas party.

‘It of course it made me emotional, it cracks me up that he tries to talk about what he remembers from that night because he was, as I’ve said before, intoxicated,’ Kylie said of he night her and Jason met. ‘It was very very sweet, very kind. It was far too much credit.’

Kelce also became emotional as he discussed his bond with his brother Travis on Monday.

How Jason and Travis Kelce Subtly Referenced Taylor Swift at Jason's NFL Retirement

At his brother Jason Kelce’s retirement press conference on Monday, 34-year-old NFL star Travis Kelce sported several friendship bracelets inspired by Taylor Swift, one of which included a sweet nod to his significant other.

Eagle-eyed fans on Twitter quickly noticed Travis wearing a bracelet with the initials “T T,” seemingly keeping his love for Taylor close during the emotional event. This sentimental piece, adorned with small brown, black, and gold beads, stood out amidst the other bracelets Travis wore. While it remains unclear what the other bracelets spelled out, one inscription seemed to begin with “Travis Kelce is a…”

During Jason’s heartfelt speech, Travis prominently displayed the bracelets, even using a tissue to wipe his eyes, further showcasing his emotions. Seated in the front row with his parents, Donna and Ed Kelce, and sister-in-law Kylie Kelce, Travis listened as Jason reflected on his career, his love for Philadelphia, and the profound impact Travis had on his journey.

As Jason fought back tears from the moment he took the podium, Travis struggled to conceal his own emotions behind dark sunglasses. The bond between the Kelce brothers was evident throughout the announcement, with Jason admitting, “It was really my brother and I our whole lives. We did almost everything together — competed, fought, laughed, cried, and learned from each other.”

No wonder Taylor Swift is a gifted songwriter. The love interest of Kansas City Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce has been found to be related to famous American poet Emily Dickinson, according to research done by Ancestry.

    Via Drew Weisholtz of TODAY:

Genealogy company Ancestry has found that the “Cruel Summer” singer, whose upcoming album is titled “The Tortured Poets Department,” is related to legendary American poet Emily Dickinson, TODAY exclusively revealed March 4. They are sixth cousins, three times removed.

“Swift and Dickinson both descend from a 17th century English immigrant (Swift’s 9th great-grandfather and Dickinson’s 6th great-grandfather who was an early settler of Windsor, Connecticut),” Ancestry shared with TODAY.

It is also worth noting that the 14-time Grammy winner had mentioned Dickinson’s name back in 2022 when Swift accepted an award at Nashville Songwriters Association International for Songwriter-Artist of the Decade.

If my lyrics sound like a letter written by Emily Dickinson’s great-grandmother while sewing a lace curtain, that’s me writing in the Quill genre,” Swift said while accepting the award on stage.

Well, if things go well between Swift and the Chiefs’ tight end and they have a child or children of their own, then that would be another notable moment in time added to the Swift genealogy line.

Jason Kelce hails his wife Kylie and says he loved her from the moment he met her… as he bursts into tears during retirement speech

The Philadelphia Eagles legend, 36, hailed coaches, friends, teammates and family, but saved his most heartfelt words for last as he spoke about his wife.

Opening up on the moment he met her, on a drunken night out in Philadelphia, he began: ‘I still remember the moment she walked through the door. The first instance is burned in my retina, it was like she glided through the opening, an aura around her. And then she started talking and I thought, “man, is this what love feels like?”

‘She was beautiful, smart, serious, yet playful. I knew it right away. I think it’s no coincidence I have enjoyed the best years of my career with Kylie by my side. Every accolade I have ever received in my life has come with her in my life.

‘She has brought the best out of me through love, devotion, support, honesty, intelligence, and of course a swift kick in the a** from time to time. She has also given me three beautiful girls in a life that increasingly brings me more fulfilment off the field than it does on. We’ve had a great run, Ky.’

Kylie herself was in an exclusive front row of the press conference, sitting alongside Jason’s mom and dad Donna and Ed, as well as brother Travis.

In the 45-minute media conference, the 36-year-old told the story of his football career, from playing at Cleveland Heights high school to the University of Cincinnati and then being drafted by the Eagles.

An emotional Kelce struggled to get his words out – regularly pausing for long periods and his voice breaking as he tried to hold back the tears.

Talking about his relationship with his younger brother, Kelce said: ‘This is where it’s gonna go off the rails.

‘I won’t forget falling short to the Chiefs and the conflicting feeling of the heartbreak I had selfishly for myself and my teammates and, at the same time, the amount of pride I had in my brother. He climbed the mountain top once again.

Travis Kelce Taylor Swift feelings clear despite being separated by thousands of miles

Travis Kelce was seen wiping away tears during his brother Jason’s retirement ceremony from the NFL and the Chiefs tight end was wearing a bracelet in honour of his girlfriend Taylor Swift

Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce continued to show his love for Taylor Swift despite being thousands of miles apart, in the form of a bracelet.

Kelce proudly unveiled the bracelet at his brother Jason’s official NFL retirement event, after he spent 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. The bracelet was made more visible when Kelce, in an all-black outfit, wiped away tears while his brother addressed the crowd. Travis sat near his mum, Donna, donning three custom bracelets, one of which spelled out his Super Bowl champion surname.

But the piece that drew extra attention was the bracelet with the initials of Swift and a heart, signifying his relationship with the ‘Eras Tour’ singer. A closer examination showed the bracelet spelling “T&T.”

Swift’s fans, widely referred to as Swifties, wasted no time reacting to the sighting and noted that, while Kelce showing support for his girlfriend was sweet, he didn’t sport a matching set like the one the singer has.

The observant admirers deduced that the colour scheme of his shirt matched the hues of Taylor’s latest album cover, further showing his indirect endorsement for her. A follower mentioned: “I love how he is wearing the bead TandT bracelet and not the gold one he has that matches Taylor’s.”

Another added their thoughts on the photos, saying: “I know he wishes Taylor was there with him.” Swift is currently on a world tour and recently performed at Singapore’s national stadium, which can hold up to 55,000 fans. She has five shows in Singapore from March 3 to March 9. After that, she’ll take a break until May 9, when she’ll perform at the Paris La Defense Arena in France, with Paramore as her support act.

Even though she wasn’t at the retirement ceremony, Swifties still found ways to connect the event to their favourite singer. During his speech, Jason said: “If you go above and beyond in this city, you will be rewarded beyond your wildest dreams.” Fans of Swift took this as a nod to her song, “Wildest Dreams,” from her 1989 album.

Swift first met Jason when he jumped into the crowd without a shirt during the Chiefs-Bills playoff game this season. Jason confessed that his wife, Kylie, told him to behave himself when meeting the pop star.

“She was already telling me to be on my best behaviour ’cause we were meeting Taylor, so she’s like, ‘Do not. Be on your best behaviour.’ I was like ‘Kylie, the first day I met you I was blackout drunk and fell asleep at the bar,” Jason said. “This is part of the charm. This is part of the Jason Kelce charm. I wanna make my best first impression,” he added.

When Jason Kelce announced his NFL retirement on Monday after 13 seasons with the Eagles, fans of Taylor Swift couldn’t help but speculate if the older brother of the pop star’s boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, dropped the names of her song in his speech.

“I found my career being fulfilled in the City of Brotherly Love, I knew that relationship all too well,” an emotional Kelce, 36, said during his speech.
