The NFL star tells PEOPLE about his second-annual Kelce Jam music festival, which will take over Kansas City on May 18

Travis Kelce can’t wait to party with fans in Kansas City at his upcoming Kelce Jam music festival on May 18.

After last year’s sold-out event, the 34-year-old Chiefs star tells PEOPLE he wanted to “keep it fresh” with this year’s lineup, which includes three of his “favorite” current musical acts at the second-annual festival.

“We’ve got a different lineup this year. I wanted to keep it fresh, wanted to keep bringing people in, and this year we’ve got Lil Wayne coming up.”

The superstar tight end is a longtime supporter of Lil Wayne’s, and says that his fandom goes back to the rapper’s “mixtape days.”

Along with Lil Wayne, “We’ve got Diplo and we’ve got 2 Chainz, so we’ve got three unbelievable performers — three of my favorite, if I might add,” the NFL star continues.

This year’s Kelce Jam, which fans can register for now at KelceJam.com ahead of Friday’s pre-sale, will keep Kansas City’s Super Bowl celebrations going, says Kelce. “It’s just going to be an amazing opportunity to get out in front of Kansas City and just celebrate the Super Bowl win one more time.”

Last year’s festival, headlined by MGK, saw some familiar faces, including his mom Donna Kelce and Chiefs’ wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

 

 

And the 20,000+ fans expected to attend the Kelce Jam, presented by Jim Beam, should come hungry, says Kelce. “It’s not just a music festival, it’s a food festival as well,” he tells PEOPLE.

The event will have “a bunch of Kansas City’s best local spots” as well as Wingstop, Uncrustables and Uber Eats options. “Making sure that nobody leaves hungry,” he adds.

Producing an event like Kelce Jam is quite the undertaking, but Kelce says he’s “teamed up with a lot of great people that make it easy to be able to throw something like this.”

“I can just promote it, show up and try to give everybody the best experience, and really just party with everybody,” says Kelce, who hopes the festival will be an opportunity to give back to the fans who support him and the Chiefs throughout the NFL season.

“I love Kansas City so much, and I’ve always wanted to be able to throw something like this to celebrate with them, knowing how much they show up and show out for us every single game.”

Kelce adds, “It’s just such a cool experience to be able to do this for Kansas City and to see Kansas City coming out and wanting to do this with me as well. I’m just so grateful.”

Coachella is approaching and Swifties are speculating whether the popstar will make an appearance at the music and arts festival in Indio, California — either as an attendee or a surprise guest performer.

Swift’s Eras Tour schedule aside, the Coachella 2024 lineup alone is causing fans to theorize as a handful of artists scheduled to take the festival stage are Swift’s close pals and collaborators.

Fans have also been speculating whether Travis Kelce will be in attendance as he’s currently in the NFL offseason after the Kansas City Chiefs snagged a consecutive Super Bowl title in February.

The last time Swift stopped by the festival grounds was in 2016, marking the one and only time she attended Coachella (or as she iconically dubbed it, “Bleachella,” due to her bleach-blonde hairdo at the time). Her then-boyfriend, Calvin Harris, headlined that year, along with Guns N’ Roses and LCD Soundsystem.

Kelce attended Coachella in 2022 and 2023 with his buddies, including best friend Aric Jones and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. “Brochella went crazy!!!,” the NFL star captioned an Instagram video that featured a compilation of high-energy clips from his weekend.

Coachella is a three-day event that runs for two weekends. This year, the festival takes place April 12-14 and April 19-21.

Swift is currently in a brief hiatus from the international leg of her Eras Tour. She wrapped a series of six shows at the Singapore National Stadium on Saturday, March 9. The tour resumes in Paris on Thursday, May 9 for the start of its European leg.

However, just because Swift doesn’t have any concerts scheduled until then, she might still be busy as she prepares to release new music. It hasn’t been made public whether she’s made prior commitments tied to her upcoming studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, which is scheduled to be released on April 19.

Travis Kelce is also on a break from his usual NFL schedule. The tight end and his Kansas City Chiefs team entered the NFL offseason after they secured a second-consecutive Super Bowl victory in Las Vegas on Feb. 11, 2024.

Now, Kelce has several months free until preseason practices start, with specific dates and times for teams to be announced in the spring. The Chiefs player is training to stay in shape while he enjoys his time off over the next few months, though he’s not tied to an official NFL practice schedule that would conflict with Coachella weekend.

Kelce spoke with PEOPLE about his potential plans to return to the music and arts festival in Indio, California this year. “I am a Coachella guy,” the NFL star said in April, about one week away from the event.

“I love going to Coachella. I love live music in general. So you might see me pop up over there at some point,” he added. However, with the NFL season not too far away and a handful of additional responsibilities around his other endeavors, Kelce teased his plan wasn’t set in stone.

“I’m not sure if I’ll go to a weekend, one or two, or if I even have time knowing my schedule’s filling up pretty quick before we get started back up for football here,” he explained.

Swift hasn’t publicly said anything about her Coachella plans this year, however, the lineup alone is a solid reason for her to attend — or potentially make a surprise appearance as a guest performer. Notably, one of the headliners is Lana Del Rey, who is a longtime friend and collaborator of the pop superstar.

Most recently, Swift brought the “Summertime Sadness” singer on stage at the Grammys when she accepted the award for album of the year in early February, which featured Del Rey on the track “Snow on the Beach.” One week later, the duo was spotted together at the Super Bowl in Swift’s star-studded suite.

Ice Spice, who also joined Swift in the Super Bowl suite, is also on the Coachella lineup. The rapper, who collaborated with the popstar on a remixed rendition of “Karma,” attended the festival last year — but this will mark her debut as a Coachella performer.

Travis Kelce is hard at work!

On Wednesday, the NFL star’s Los Angeles-based trainer shared a glimpse of the athlete’s grueling workout during his off-season.

In the clip, Kelce, 34, can be seen running insanely fast on a treadmill, doing sprints up a parking garage exit and executing balancing and resistance exercises, all of which show off his fitness — and his trademark intensity.

“Year 12!” his trainer Laurence Ng wrote alongside the video.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has worked with “Larry Legend” (as he is known on Instagram) for years, and has long acknowledged the importance of putting in that offseason training.

“It’s just coming out here and getting work,” Travis said in a 2019 video of his beachside workout with Ng, in which he was seen running sprints in the sand. “You gotta find your own gig, whether it’s on the beach, it’s on the field, in the weight room. You gotta love what you do. The more you put your heart into it, the better the outcome’s always gonna be.”

Over 11 seasons, Kelce has won three Super Bowls, with his most recent one coming just two months ago, yet retirement has lingered in his mind, he told WSJ. Magazine late last year — “more than anyone could ever imagine.”

“That’s the only thing I’ve never really been open about … the discomfort. The pain. The lingering injuries — the 10 surgeries I’ve had,” Kelce said of injuries sustained over his career, adding that he still feels “every single surgery to this day.”

A Florida-based trainer who Kelce has worked with in past off-seasons has also been vocal about the veteran player’s physical setbacks, and shared with The Palm Beach Post in December that he was hoping to see Kelce — and his girlfriend Taylor Swift — sometime this spring in Boca Raton.

Lil Wayne, Diplo and 2Chainz will headline.

‘Swiftie’ sleuths have tried desperately to figure out why Selena – an avid football fan – wasn’t in attendance at the Super Bowl. Instead, she simply commented a sad face emoji and a black heart on a photo of the singer with her pals at the final.

She has also never accompanied Taylor to cheer on Travis, unlike Blake who was pictured alongside her at three games last season.

DailyMail.com has tallied up dozens of occasions, including all of Taylor’s birthday bashes, her Fourth of July parties and her New Years Eve celebrations and found Selena and Blake have never attended together.

On the eve of her 34th birthday on December 12, Taylor skipped the TIME Person of the Year Gala in NYC for dinner at Zero Bond with Selena and Kaleigh and her actor husband, Miles Teller, 37.

Blake was not present – but she was on hand to celebrate at Taylor’s blowout bash the following night where she partied with the singer’s celebrity friends, including Kaleigh and Miles, as well as Zoe Kravitz, 28, and Gigi Hadid, 25.

Selena, however, was noticeably absent.

Instead, the former Disney star shared a birthday message on Instagram alongside a photo of Taylor kissing her on the cheek.

‘Happy birthday to the goddess that is @taylorswift. I love you,’ she wrote.

There was no mention as to why she could not make it to her best friend’s birthday party.

‘For a good hangout and good party, you know who to invite and who not to invite,’ a second insider told DailyMail.com. ‘Taylor knows not to mix Blake and Selena in the same room and that it must be two separate nights.

‘Blake enjoys the perks of being a celebrity. She loves to have fun.

‘If there is something fun going down, she wants to be a part of it and it is contagious. This is something that everyone, including Taylor, loves about Blake. She knows that, no matter what, she is going to have a good time and lots of laughs when she is out with Blake.’

They continued: ‘When Taylor wants to hang loose, Blake will be in the mix. Selena just plays a different role in Taylor’s life. It is as simple as that.’

On January 7, Selena and Taylor both attended the Golden Globes along with Kaleigh and partied into the night – but Blake was not present.

Three days later, Taylor went out to dinner in NYC with Kaleigh, Zoe and Blake. Selena, who was still in NYC, was not in attendance.

Selena and Blake don’t appear to have ever been photographed together at events, including the Met Gala and numerous ceremonies from the Golden Globes to the Emmys and SAG Awards.

They were both in attendance at Saturday Night Live on November 14, 2021 when Taylor was the guest host and debuted the remake of her song, All Too Well (Taylor’s version) – but there are no pictures of them mingling.

Blake also attended the taping with her husband Ryan Reynolds, and the pair were in the audience for Taylor’s performance.

All Too Well was shot in the Westchester County home Blake shares with Ryan and their kids. Blake also directed Taylor’s video, I Bet You Think About Me.

After the SNL taping, Blake and Ryan were photographed entering the after party. Selena, however, did not attend.

Over the past decade that Taylor and Blake have been hanging out, Selena has seemingly only ever made one reference to the Gossip Girl star.

In a 2016 interview with Elle magazine, she was asked about the actress for a beauty piece.

‘I wish she was my friend, but she’s not my friend,’ she said. ‘Blake Lively. I’ve never met her, but I just love her hair. I think she’s got beautiful, effortless hair. I think she’s super beachy.’

The insider believes that it is ‘still odd’ that ‘no one has noticed that Selena and Blake have never been in the same room at the same time.’

‘Blake is closer to the A-list girls it seems than Selena is,’ they said. ‘Selena kind of does her own thing because she is such a huge star in her own right.

‘No one ever questions Taylor’s friendships. She has so many beautiful and famous friends around her at all times that people are focused on. She always looks to be having a blast whenever she is out with her girls.

‘She has also shared so many photos on her social media with Selena and has shared photos with Blake. It is just the way it is and the way it always has been.’

Travis Kelce has confirmed he will be heading to Europe this summer to support Taylor Swift on her Eras Tour.

The Kansas City Chiefs star, whose fame has skyrocketed since he and Swift went public with their relationship in September, has previously travelled to Argentina, Australia and Singapore to watch his girlfriend in action.

And with plenty of time on his hands before NFL teams get their training camps underway in July, Travis says he has plans to follow Taylor across the pond when she takes her worldwide tour to Europe next month.

When asked if he will be ‘packing his bags’ to join Swift, Kelce told Entertainment Tonight: ‘Oh, you know I gotta go support.’

After heading to Nanterre, France on May 9, Swift will perform a host of shows in Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland and Austria over the next three months.

‘And London is always an amazing city and Paris is a beautiful city and she will be all over Europe.

Reports have previously suggested that Kelce is keen to spend time with Swift in France and Italy, with the NFL tight end rumored to have expensive penthouses and hotels for their time in each country.

On the Italian leg of her tour, the couple are understood to be staying in a swanky $6,200-a-night hotel in Milan, while Travis has also booked a hotel suite for $12,000-a-night in Rome, according to the US Sun.

In France, he is said to have booked another lavish hotel suite costing $6,300 per night in Paris.

Swift will be able to enjoy some downtime with her man in between her hectic Eras Tour schedule, which Kelce has witnessed first hand in recent months.

Ahead of his own Kelce Jam festival in Kansas City this summer, the Super Bowl winner has no plans to try and emulate his girlfriend.

He told the Hollywood Reporter when asked what he’s learned from Swift: ‘Don’t try and be Taylor, that’s what I learned.

Swift does not have a show on the ‘Eras Tour’ on May 18, but will be performing in Portugal on May 24 and 25.
