Lamar Odom is offering some advice to Travis Kelce about prioritizing his relationship with Taylor Swift amid the ongoing media attention.

 

The 44-year-old retired NBA player dealt with a similar situation in the late 2000s when he started dating Khloé Kardashian. Odom, who played for the Los Angeles Lakers at the time, made headlines for his romance with Kardashian and his appearances on her show, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” The two married in 2009 and were featured in their own spinoff series, “Khloé and Lamar,” which ran for two seasons.

Odom and Kardashian finalized their divorce in 2016, People reported, but he has continued to discuss their past connection and his current relationship with her family over the years. So, learning from his experience, the former athlete gave an insightful answer when asked recently if he had any tips for Kelce about dating Swift.

“My advice would be to be strong and stay by her and be as close to her as possible,” Odom said in an interview with The Messenger. “There are going to be millions of women that want to taste what Taylor Swift is tasting and it can be overwhelming because we’re men.”

The retired Laker added, “He just has to be strong and stick by his girl and he’ll be alright.”

He also shared an update about his relationship with members of the Kardashian family. He recently showed support for Caitlyn Jenner last month when she was honored at the Spirit of Lincoln Gala at the Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, Calif.

“Once you’re family, you’re always family to me,” he said, explaining his attendance at the event. “I will never turn my back on my family. You’re always going to go through hard times but hard times are just times you’re going to get through and learn from.”

Odom is the latest athlete to weigh in on Kelce and Swift’s relationship. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes —Kelce’s teammate and close friend — commented on their connection and constant media attention during an “NFL Live” interview Nov. 17.

He told reporter Jeff Darlington that the recent news coverage the team is receiving is similar to the spotlight on the Chiefs after they won their second Super Bowl earlier this year.

“I don’t think it feels any different. People see the whole Taylor Swift and Travis (thing) and they make it a huge deal because it is a huge deal. I think it becomes a bigger deal to the fan bases than it does to the guys who are actually in the building,” Mahomes explained.

He continued, “I’ve been lucky enough to meet Taylor and see how good of a person she is. I think you understand why it’s not become a distraction or anything like that because everybody cares about being the best they can be every day.”

Recently, the “Karma” singer has been busy wrapping up the final 2023 concert dates for her “Eras Tour,” meaning she couldn’t attend some of the Chiefs’ recent games. However, now that her tour has ended for the year, Swifties are waiting to see if pop icon stops by the Chiefs’ game against the Green Bay Packers on Dec. 3 to cheer on the tight end and his team.

“It [the card] speaks of financial plans, so they may be talking about purchasing a property together, or even a vehicle that will make it easier for them to see one another. They could be talking about engagement rings.

“These cards show that Taylor is the one who feels far away and isolated, and therefore Travis, despite being very busy himself, will be the one to make the sacrifices in her favour,” Inbaal concluded.

As Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship continues, the NFL star’s sister-in-law, Kylie Kelce, is showing support for the singer on social media.

Fans noticed the public backing from Kylie, 31, on Instagram when the mother-of-three “liked” a post from Today regarding the pop icon’s publicist calling out rumors about Swift’s previous relationship.

Last week, Swift’s publicist Tree Paine slammed DeuxMoi, an anonymous Instagram account that shares unconfirmed celebrity gossip, and shut down the account’s claims that the pop icon, 33, had a “marriage ceremony” with her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn sometime between 2020 and 2021.

“Enough is enough with these fabricated lies about Taylor from Deuxmoi. There was NEVER a marriage or ceremony of ANY kind. This is an insane thing to post,” Paine wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“It’s time for you to be held accountable for the pain and trauma you cause with posts like these.”

And after Kylie showed her support for Paine’s post with the Instagram like, Swift’s fans were appreciative.

One account on social media wrote, “Kylie really be out here supporting Taylor publicly you love to see it.”

“Kylie is a queen,” another wrote, while a third reply to the post called Kylie “a real one” for her support.

“It’s not particularly my cup of tea to be in the spotlight or in front of a camera,” she told local outlet Spectrum Sports KC while hosting a kids’ field hockey clinic in Kansas City.

She shared that she “was a communication major in college,” so her comfort lies more on the other side of the camera. “I love to be behind it. That’s my bread and butter,” Kylie added.

Her preference for blending in with the crowd is true at Jason’s games, too. Rather than opting for the spotlight of the luxury boxes, “I’m a stands girl,” Kylie shared. “I love sitting in the stands, cheering with the fans, even if it’s in an opposing team stadium.”

The Philadelphia native also spoke to Spectrum Sports KC about her reaction to Jason being one of the Men of the Year in PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive issue, a title that he’s widely joked about online and on his podcast.

“I mean I knew this, I’ve known this the whole time. This is not news to me,” Kylie said of her husband’s 𝑠e𝑥 appeal.

“But it’s funny to see those things sort of rolling in because at the end of the day, he’s still tucking in toddlers at the end of the night and getting called in for kid duty.”

 

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce went “all in” very fast on their two-month-old public romance, with Kelce traveling over 11,000 miles this weekend to see Swift in Buenos Aires, Argentina, before returning to Kansas City, Missouri in time for practice today.

Sources spoke to People and The Messenger about how Kelce and Swift’s connection took even them by surprise. They also shared how smitten Swift is with Kelce and the new group of friends, fellow partners of the Kansas City Chiefs players, that she has made through him.

During Swift’s tour break, she “loved catching up with girlfriends [and] had fun spending time with Travis,” a source told People.

“He is a gentleman,” the source said of Kelce. “He is very focused on his career. He has a great relationship with his family. He has an amazing energy and approach to life. It all feels very special.”

A source echoed Swift’s admiration of Kelce to The Messenger, who described their relationship as already serious.

“Neither of them expected them to move quickly, but they have been inseparable since they first connected,” that source said. “They see each other as much as they can during this busy season.”

“When they are not together, they are constantly FaceTiming and texting,” the source continued. “Friends around them think it is very cute and they are a great match. Taylor is having a lot of fun with the wives and girlfriends in the league. Brittany Mahomes has welcomed her with open arms and has really been the ring leader merging Taylor, her friends and the girl groups together.”

The source added, “It is a new era for Taylor and she is loving this season of her life. It is very different from her normal group of friends, but they have all been having a great time going to the games and bonding together. Taylor has really had an open mind to this new world, and the girls think she’s really enjoyable to be around.”

Another source told The Messenger that Swift and Kelce are planning to spend the holidays with each other’s families, another indicator of how serious things have already become.

“They are hoping they will make time for each other during the holidays in December,” the source said. “They have talked about holiday plans and how everything will work during their busy season. Travis and Taylor have plans in December to be with each other’s families for the holidays.”

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has been publicly linked to the pop superstar since September. This year, Swift, 33, has shown up at multiple Chiefs games, and on November 11 Kelce, 34, was spotted at Swift’s Eras Tour show in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in the VIP tent next to the singer’s dad, Scott Swift.

While the concert took place last month, footage is now being shared online of Swift singing directly to Kelce during one of her hit songs. While performing “Blank Space”—which Kelce said was his favorite Swift track in an interview with The Wall Street Journal—she pointed at him on the line “‘Cause you know I love the players.”

“‘Blank Space’ was one I wanted to hear live for sure. ‘I could make a bad guy good for the weekend.’ That’s a helluva line,” Kelce told the Journal.

In videos of the concert shared online, different angles of the special moment can be seen. One TikTok user uploaded a video on November 11 of Kelce singing along to the song, and a video uploaded to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday shows Swift pointing and singing.

“I’m just obsessed with Taylor Swift singing to Travis Kelce,” the user captioned the clip.

Newsweek reached out to representatives for Swift and Kelce for comment via email.

“Saw a video on TikTok of Taylor Swift singing one of her smash hits and pointing straight at Travis Kelce … I thought ppl were being delulu but she was really pointing at him,” said another on X.

“Taylor singing the entirety of blank space to Travis in the audience is my Roman empire,” a third user posted.

A fourth added: “I think about Taylor pointing to Travis when singing ’cause you know I love the players’ ALL THE TIME.”

This isn’t the first time Swift has made a nod to Kelce in performance. Another theory from fans is that she decided to sing an acoustic version of “End Game,” from her 2017 album, as a message to the athlete. The song describes a love that will never die, with the lyrics “I want to be your end game. I want to be your first string. I want to be your A team.”

The moment that led fans to believe this was when Swift sang from her piano and the audience members’ bracelets lit up in red and gold, which are the colors of the Chiefs.

The special moments didn’t end there. During the concert in Buenos Aires, Swift tweaked the lyrics to her hit song “Karma.”

Once the show ended, video footage online showed Swift running backstage into the arms of Kelce, who then kissed her.

Kelce seemed thrilled with the attention from his girlfriend. In the November 15 episode of his New Heights podcast, which he does with his brother, Jason Kelce, he said Swift told him in advance she was going to give him a nod during the show.

“I had no clue. Well, I might have had a little bit of a clue, but definitely when I heard it come out of her mouth, it still shocked me,” he said when discussing the “Karma” lyric change.

“It was like, ‘Oh, she really just said that,’” he said.

Taylor Swift was named Time Magazine’s 2023 person of the year Wednesday, after she spent most of 2023 on her lucrative worldwide tour, became a billionaire and was named Spotify’s most-streamed artist globally.
