Mahomes says he’s gotten to see how good a person Swift is after meeting her

 

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes gave his opinion on favorite target Travis Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift, and he admits the added attention hasn’t become a distraction in the locker room.

With Swift attending Chiefs games this season, creating a massive influx of attention, every Kansas City game feels like the Super Bowl. But Mahomes doesn’t view things that way.

“I don’t think it feels any different,” he told ESPN. “People see the whole Taylor Swift and Travis [relationship], and they make it a huge deal because it is a huge deal. I think it becomes a bigger deal to the fan bases than it does to the guys that are actually in the building.”

Mahomes, who called Kelce his “brother” in the segment while explaining how close his family is to the Kelces now, has gotten the chance to get to know Swift.

“I’ve been lucky enough to meet Taylor and see how good of a person she is,” Mahomes said. “I think you can understand why it’s not become a distraction or anything like that because everybody cares about being the best they can be every day.”

The Chiefs are coming off their bye week during which Kelce took the trip to Argentina to see Swift open her international dates on her Eras Tour in Buenos Aires. Swift and Kelce went viral as the former ran up to the latter after her concert and shared a kiss before walking offstage.

But now it’s back to football as the Chiefs enter a Super Bowl rematch with the Philadelphia Eagles in Kansas City on Monday night. Kelce will face his older brother, Jason Kelce, as these two teams are once again primed to make playoff runs toward another hopeful Super Bowl.

Mahomes discussed what this matchup means for them coming off the bye.

“Playing on Monday night, it’s going to be about as close to a Super Bowl-type feel that you can have playing against another great team that we just played in the Super Bowl last year,” he said. “We get to see where we’re at as an offense, as a defense and as an entire team. The biggest thing is you get to see how guys respond under the lights. I think that’s what gets you ready for playoffs and Super Bowl games.”

There was hope that Swift would be present for this game at GEHA Field, but her postponed concert in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from Saturday is this Monday.

Still, “Swifties” have gravitated to Kelce and the Chiefs this season, joining a rabid Kansas City fan base that is looking to move to 8-2 on the year with a win.

During her Saturday night show in Argentina, Taylor Swift shocked fans and Travis Kelce by changing the lyrics to her song “Karma” to reference her new boyfriend.

Travis Kelce’s mom, Donna Kelce, apparently feels like she fumbled an answer about Taylor Swift.

In his new interview with WSJ. Magazine, Travis spoke about his mother’s appearance on “Today” in October, when she spoke briefly about Swift.

According to the outlet, Donna felt she came off less than excited about interacting with the “Cruel Summer” singer.

During the “Today” interview, Donna was asked if their time in the box at the Chiefs’ game was the first time they had met.

“Yeah, it’s, you know, it’s fairly new, so I don’t like to talk about it. It’s just one of those things where obviously everybody saw me. I was in the boxes with her and it’s just, another thing that’s amped up my life,” Donna replied.

When asked directly what Swift was like, she responded, “It was okay.”

She continued, saying she did not want to elaborate too much on her younger son’s life.

“It’s his personal life. I’ll talk about my life and when the kids were little when I was with them. They’re men now. And they’ve got their own lives and there isn’t a man alive that’s going to talk to their mom about their personal life, it’s not going to happen,” she said at the time.

Kelce reassured his mom that she handled the interview perfectly and even complimented his mom’s glasses.

Now that the tight end and the pop star appear to be an official couple, with backstage kisses and hand in hand walks, Donna is more willing to comment on the relationship.

“I can tell you this,” Donna told WSJ. Magazine. “He’s happier than I’ve seen him in a long time…. God bless him, he shot for the stars!”

This is not the first awkward moment that has occurred between the Kelce and Swift families.

Last week, Kelce spoke about his time in Argentina to see Swift perform on his “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce.

During the concert, she changed the lyrics to her song “Karma” to reference him, singing, “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs, coming straight home to me.”

Kelce said, “Yeah no, I had no clue that — well, I might have had a little bit of a clue, but definitely when I heard it come out of her mouth, still shocked me… I was like oh… she really just said that?”

“You were so shocked you left Scott [Swift] hanging. Scott’s over here looking for a high-five,” Jason joked, referencing a video that went viral of the two men reacting to the lyric change. In the video, Taylor’s dad Scott can be seen trying to give Travis a celebratory high-five.

“Yeah, Mr. Swift, I apologize, big guy. Aw man, I missed that. I never miss a high-five, too. Big high-five guy! It’s the most electric thing you can do at an event… So sorry,” he reiterated.

Behind him stood Jalen Hurts, the Eagles quarterback and MVP candidate.

And then behind him was D’Andre Swift, the Eagles running back who dominated on Monday night and inspired Philadelphia to a superb win on the road.

Put those three together and it spells out: ‘Kelce Hurts Swift’.

One account on X wrote: ‘Kelce Hurts Swift. This phrase scares NFL defenses and Swifties. Album on the way’.

Jason Kelce and the Eagles won their Super Bowl rematch at a raucous Arrowhead on Monday

Kelce revealed this week that he would be alone on Thanksgiving due to Swift‘s tour commitments.

She is playing in Sao Paolo this weekend, after three dates in Rio de Janeiro last week, meaning Kelce is without her for this Thanksgiving – their first since they started dating.

When him and brother Jason were talking about the Thanksgiving NFL games, Kelce said: ‘Good luck to them. I’ll be feasting on KFC because I won’t have anybody here.’

And the comment didn’t go unnoticed by the fast food chain itself, who responded to him on Twitter.

Travis was given a last-minute invite to his brother’s house in Philadelphia when he discovered he was going to be by himself.

‘If you want to make a quick trip, you’re welcome at the house, man,’ he said. ‘We’ll have plenty of food.’

It will be difficult for Travis to make the journey to his brother, though, given that he and the Chiefs have to prepare to play the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

“Travis has a lot of people who come to games — appropriately so, everyone loves to support him. But it means that it’s a tight squeeze in there,” she said. “Also, it’s fun to cheer and not feel like the entire room’s rooting against you.”

“I will be in the stands,” she added. “I’m a stands girl — I love sitting in the stands, cheering with the fans, even if it’s in an opposing team’s stadium.”

Maria Flor was welcomed to the world just hours after her mother, Maria Mendes, 24, fell ill moments before Taylor Swift was set to take the stage in Rio de Janeiro last Saturday night.

Mendes told online news outlet G1 that she had been waiting several years to watch her favorite artist in concert and had purchased the singer’s Eras Tour tickets at the last minute.

She felt some pain the morning of the concert and thought it was just cramps that she was feeling from her menstrual cycle, and decided she was fit enough to attend the show.

‘It was a pain that came and went, but it didn’t cross my mind that it was a pregnancy contraction,’ Mendes explained.

‘I stayed from 10 am until the gate opened, waiting and hoping that the pain would go away soon, as it was close to the show.’

The pain worsened once she reached her seats at Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium and decided to head to the bathroom before her water suddenly broke as Taylor Swift’s music blared in the background.

Mendes was rushed to Salgado Filho Hospital, where doctors performed an ultrasound, and then transferred to Carmela Dutra Maternity Hospital, where she gave birth to her daughter.

‘When my water broke and I got into the ambulance, I felt like it was already in place to come out. I only knew it was time when the doctor put me on the ultrasound and told me that there was a 100% chance that I was pregnant at 40 weeks,’ she said.

‘I would just have to push for a natural birth. It was a total surprise. I was menstruating. Nothing would make me consider that happening, and at the show. When I arrived at the maternity ward, I was already eight centimeters dilated.’

Mendes said she had no clue she was expecting a baby despite dealing with constant muscle spasms. She attended work without any issues during the pregnancy and post-workout photos taken in October did not show a baby bump.

The medical staff even suggested she name the baby after the 11-time Grammy Award winning artist, but she said she had already a name in place for a future daughter.

‘I was super happy listening to my heart. I tried to stay calm,’ the first-time mother said.

‘Despite everything there at the time, I really wanted her to be well and healthy. Now I want to focus on my daughter’s health, be 100 percent, and, perhaps, one day, be able to take her to a Taylor concert.’

Travis Kelce is finally revealing what it’s like to be dating one of the biggest pop stars in the world: Taylor Swift.

 

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end told WSJ. Magazine in an interview published Nov. 20 that he’s “never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them,” confirming rumors of his romance with the “Karma” singer.

“I’ve never dealt with it,” Kelce said. “But at the same time, I’m not running away from any of it…. The scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her, every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she’s just living, enjoying life. When she acts like that I better not be the one acting all strange.”

After Kelce initially tried to woo Swift at her Kansas City concert last summer with a failed attempt at giving her a friendship bracelet, the 34-year-old explained to WSJ. Magazine that he had “somebody playing Cupid.” However, he was vague as to the identity of the matchmaker.

He then recalled the message he received from Swift on his phone, saying, “She told me exactly what was going on and how I got lucky enough to get her to reach out.”

Though he didn’t tell the publication who specifically set them up, Kelce revealed that some were part of the Swift family.

“She’ll probably hate me for saying this, but…when she came to Arrowhead, they gave her the big locker room as a dressing room, and her little cousins were taking pictures…in front of my locker.”

Kelce was tightlipped in the interview about the couple’s first date, but did mention how he handled nerves before the big evening.

“When I met her in New York, we had already kind of been talking, so I knew we could have a nice dinner and, like, a conversation, and what goes from there will go from there,” he said, adding, “Everybody around me telling me: Don’t f— this up! And me sitting here saying: Yeah—got it.”

Matching Swift’s continued support of Kelce at his NFL games, Kelce made his way over to Buenos Aires, Argentina, earlier this month for concerts on the singer’s South America leg of the “Eras Tour.”

During that weekend, the two were spotted with who appeared to be Swift’s father at Elena restaurant at the Four Seasons, leaving a private room and exiting through the kitchen.

But fans really went crazy when Swift boldly decided to personalize her iconic hit “Karma” to include a reference about Kelce.

The original lyric in the song is “Karma is the guy on the screen/ Coming straight home to me.” Swift changed the line, singing, “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs/ Coming straight home to me.”

The crowd immediately erupted into cheers and applause with all eyes on Kelce, who held back a big smile and shook his head. He then began clapping along and eventually blew the singer a kiss and a wave.

After the show, fans caught on video Swift, still dressed in the sparkly costume from her final song, running into Kelce’s arms and sharing a kiss.

Kylie Kelce gave brother-in-law Travis Kelce a piece of dating advice that may have come in clutch amid his blossoming romance with Taylor Swift.

 

“This is going to sound a little harsh, but I think you should do the mustache [in your dating app photos] because if they swipe right at your worst then they’ll love you at your best,” Kylie, 31, told Travis, 34, during a September episode of his and brother Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast.

Travis first debuted a mustache last year. The Super Bowl champion later explained why he sometimes opts for it over a full beard during training camp. “That’s when I don’t have any paid appearances, or I’m not subject to doing anything where I have to team up with a company and look presentable,” he told Jason during a “New Heights” episode in August.

Although he played coy when Jason asked what Swift would say about the mustache — the NFL star revealed his crush on the singer after attending her Eras Tour in July — he did say he believed the response would be positive.

“Yeah, we’re not gonna bring up Taylor Swift in this episode,” he quipped, adding, “But something tells me she’s gonna like it.”

Travis seems to know that the ‘stache has become part of his signature style. When asked during a Friday, October 20, press conference what fans should include if they plan to dress up as him and Swift for Halloween, the facial hair was the first thing he pointed out.

How Swift really feels about the look remains a mystery — but she’s certainly enjoying getting to know Travis. Days later, the pair made respective appearances on Saturday Night Live before heading out for a romantic date at Catch Steakhouse in New York City and making an appearance at the SNL after-party. They spent another cozy evening in the Big Apple the following night when they dined at the Waverly Inn.

Swift hasn’t publicly commented on the relationship, but Travis previously said during an October press conference that he has been “on top of the world” since first being linked to the Grammy winner — and is taking the extra attention in stride.

The couple have even discussed how to make things work when they’re apart, as Swift is gearing up for the international leg of her Eras Tour, which kicks off in November. “He’s going to see her when she’s back on tour. That’s already planned. And when she gets a break, she’ll see him,” the insider added. “It’s going so well because it’s easy and nothing is complicated.”
