Every good love story needs a soundtrack, and Taylor Swift may be writing her own.

According to a source that spoke with Us Weekly, Swift has already written “very personal” songs about her romance with Travis Kelce, which began shortly after the NFL player saw her Eras Tour concert in Kansas City and decided to shoot his shot on the New Heights podcast in July 2023. It’s been a constant stream of Sunday Night Football appearances, private jet flights, and Eras Tour shoutouts ever since.

“Taylor has already written songs about Travis,” the source claimed. “She’s written at least two songs. They have to do with their love story and falling in love with him.” Of course, we already got an unofficial theme song when Swift changed those Midnights lyrics to “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me.”

Just don’t expect to hear the alleged new material on her upcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department. “She likely won’t share them with anyone. They’re very special,” the source said. “Songs are like poetry to her. Just like most people journal, Taylor writes lyrics. Her relationship with Travis has inspired her.”

Meanwhile, fans suspect they’ll learn a lot more about Taylor Swift’s split from ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn when Tortured Poets drops on April 19. “I needed to make it. It was really a lifeline for me,” Swift told the crowd during a recent performance in Australia, per fan-recorded videos. “It sort of reminded me of why songwriting is something that actually gets me through life. And I’ve never had an album where I’ve needed songwriting more than I needed it on Tortured Poets.”

In a recent episode of The Sports Shop with Reese and K-Mac, defensive backs coach Dave Merritt of the Kansas City Chiefs said that Taylor Swift went to Travis Kelce’s games before she was first seen at one in September of last year.

Manziel was appearing on the ‘The Rush Podcast,’ when he stated that he nearly signed with the Chiefs as a free agent back in 2017, which could have resulted in Kansas City not drafting Mahomes that year.

‘I thought I was going to sign in Kansas City the same year that Mahomes got drafted,’ Manziel said.

‘So I think if they wouldn’t have taken a quarterback, which thank God they did, I think I could have ended up there.’

Had Manziel signed with the Chiefs he likely would have occupied the backup QB spot behind incumbent starter Alex Smith, who had just been named to his second Pro Bowl after leading the team to a 12-4 record.

‘I took a couple meetings there and flew up to Kansas City and kicked the tires on it,’ Manziel said. ‘It ended up not working out.’

Manziel also mentioned that Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has developed a reputation for helping players redeem bounce back after off-field issues.

‘Andy Reid has a really good long history of being able to help people, and he saw something in me as well,’ Manziel said.

Kansas City already parted ways with Marquez Valdes-Scantling, clearing approximately $12 million in cap space. According to a new report, Chicago Bears’ pending free agent Darnell Mooney is expected to land in Kansas City.

The Chicago Tribune’s Dan Wiederer posted on March 2, “On a lower-profile note, some chatter in Indy from folks eager to see where WR Darnell Mooney lands in a week and a half. There’s a small buzz on the possibility of Mooney having a resurgent 2024 at a great value price. Multiple people suggested KC.”

According to Spotrac.com, Mooney is predicted to earn a four-year $41.98 million contract. If the 26-year-old is willing to take a discount to catch passes from Patrick Mahomes, Veach could work something out.

The Bears Wire’s Brendan Sugrue posted, “KC has always been the obvious choice. Part of me wonders what he would look like back in Chicago in a new offense with a (likely) new QB. But I’m sure that ship has sailed.” Arrowhead Report’s Connor Christopherson wrote, “It’s ‘every wide receiver is going to KC’ szn, though Mooney actually does make a lot of sense.”

When the Bears drafted Mooney in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL draft, Matt Nagy was the head coach in Chicago. Nagy joined the Chiefs coaching staff in 2022 and was promoted to offensive coordinator last season.

KC Sports Network’s Matt Lane believes Mooney makes an easy fit into the Chiefs offense. “Logical move for the Chiefs if they can’t/don’t want to hit up the top end of the FA WR market,” Lane posted, “and his 50/50 outside-slot split plays into their scheme well.”

Speaking to reporters last month, Bears general manager Ryan Poles was cagey about keeping Mooney. “We’ll evaluate the whole year and like I told a lot of guys that are free agents, we’ll be in contact with them in terms of our direction,” Poles said, per SI.

“There’s different buckets. There’s guys that are going to have to go test the market and see what’s out there and maybe circle back. I know Mooney wishes he played a little bit better this year and things went better for him and made some more connections. But I know he’s going to bounce back and have a really good career.”

USA Today’s Lucas Hunt surmised, “Realistically, I don’t see Mooney staying in Chicago… It’s much more likely that he goes to a receiver-needy team where he can demonstrate that same dynamic route running and catching ability that had Bears fans so enamored with him and get paid like a true WR2.”

“Former Texas Longhorns wide receiver Xavier Worthy officially broke the NFL combine 40-yard dash record with a 4.21-second 40-yard dash.

Xavier Worthy just narrowly beat out the previous 40-yard dash record of 4.22 seconds, held by early first-round Cincinnati Bengals draft pick John Ross. Worthy was initially clocked in at 4.22 unofficially, but the official time saw Worthy break the record.”

Mahomes appears to be hinting he values Worthy and his speed. The Chiefs offense has missed an explosive element to it ever since they traded Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins.

The Kansas City Chiefs front office has some difficult decisions to make this offseason. With both L’Jarius Sneed and Chris Jones due for a new contract, the organization might have to get creative to keep both players. With that said, the team has officially made its final decision on what to do with Sneed.

Reports indicate the Chiefs have decided to place the franchise tag on L’Jarius Sneed on Monday, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic. Meanwhile, the front office is continuing its contract negotiations with Chris Jones.

“While the Kansas City Chiefs continue to work towards a Chris Jones extension, the franchise tag will officially be placed on cornerback L’Jarius Sneed tomorrow, per sources.”

Kansas City’s defense was a bright spot for the team this last season. While the offense was a roller coaster, the defense maintained consistency and kept opponents at bay. So, it makes sense why the Chiefs want to bring back both Sneed and Jones.

The franchise tag gives the Chiefs some time to figure out contract talks with L’Jarius Sneed. It appears the strategy is to extend Chris Jones to a long-term contract then potentially further negotiations with Sneed. Either way, it appears Kansas City is going to maintain two of their star players on defense.

L’Jarius Sneed had a monster season. He routinely bottled up top wide receivers every week. Additionally, he finished with 78 total tackles, 14 pass deflections, two interceptions, and one fumble recovery. Opponents had a hard time throwing his direction as he blanketed receivers all season.

We’ll see if the Chiefs can eventually get a long-term deal done with L’Jarius Sneed. In the meantime, all eyes are on Chris Jones to sign an extension before free agency opens.
