Lebron James criticized his son Bronny’s entry into the NBA

LeBron James sounded off about mock drafts projecting his son, Bronny, to enter the NBA lottery in 2025.

On Monday, the Lakers star took to X to comment on the report from basketball news aggregator NBA Central. The post reported that Bronny, a freshman at USC, has been removed from ESPN’s 2024 NBA mock draft and is now expected to enter the league next year.

‘Can yall please just let the kid be a kid and enjoy college basketball,’ James wrote in a post that has since been deleted. ‘The work and results will ultimately do the talking no matter what he decides to do. If y’all don’t know he doesn’t care what a mock draft says, he just WORKS! Earned Not Given!’

After reiterating his son’s dedication to the sport, James commented on the little importance held by mock drafts.

‘And to all the other kids out there striving to be great just keep your head down, blinders on and keep grinding,’ he continued. ‘These Mock Drafts doesn’t matter one bit! I promise you! Only the WORK MATTERS!! Let’s talk REAL BASKETBALL PEOPLE!’

Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest while working out with the USC Trojans last summer

ESPN currently has Bronny projected to get picked at No 39 in the 2025 NBA Draft.

After On3 and NBACentral made posts about the projection, ESPN NBA Draft analyst Jonathan Givony reached out to clarify the reason behind Bronny’s placement.

‘I know that accuracy isn’t a big thing for you guys, but he hasn’t been on the 2024 mock draft since his heart issue in July,’ Givony posted.

On3 has since corrected its story and social media post. On the other hand, NBA Central’s post remains on X.

The freshman currently averages 5.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game for USC

Bronny drew a lot of attention – not only as LeBron’s eldest son but also -as a star at Sierra Canyon through high school. Shortly after committing to the Trojans, the freshman suffered a cardiac arrest while working out with the team over the summer.

After the health scare, Bronny suited up for his USC debut in December against Long Beach State, where he tallied four points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 17 minutes off the bench.

He currently averages 5.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists as the Trojans sit 11th in the Pac-12 with an 11-16 record.

While in his 21st season in the NBA, James has openly expressed his desire to play with his son in the league.

LeBron James Looking For Multi-Year Deal With Lakers

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has a $51.4 million player option for next season. At this point, it’s unknown what James is thinking on that option. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst says James’ goal is to sign a multi-year deal with the Lakers.

“I don’t think this is LeBron’s last stand, I don’t think this is the Lakers’ last stand,” Windhorst said on First Take. “First off, I think LeBron is angling to sign a multi-year deal in the offseason with the Lakers that will be nine figures. That will be even bigger than the deal he is on now. Now, whether or not he’s able to finish that deal, whether or not the Lakers want to give him a three-year contract and pay him $60 million when he’s 42 years old, that’s a different discussion.”

The NBA’s Over-38 rule makes signing a long-term deal a difficult one for James. Because James is already 39 years old, there are complications that come with signing a deal longer than a season. However, the Lakers and their superstar do seem to be in sync on keeping their partnership together beyond this season.

Sсottie Pіppen Gіves The Crown Of G.O.A.T Bаck To Former Teаmmаte Mіchael Jordаn

NBA legend Scottie Pippen put Michael Jordan back on top Monday after previously stating that LeBron James “will be the greatest statistical guy to ever play the game of basketball.”

Pippen was asked about different aspects of his 17-year career. Halfway through the interview, his former teammate Michael Jordan was brought up.

“He was the greatest player, definitely in basketball,” Pippen said when asked about Jordan. “For sure, I mean, you look at the MVPs that he was able to achieve.”

Pippen also mentioned how it was a team effort for the Chicago Bulls to win six NBA championships during that era as well.

The comments reflect the opposite of what Pippen recently said about the G.O.A.T discussion. In a May 2023 appearance on Stacey King’s “Gimme The Hot Sauce” podcast, Pippen called James the best.

“And there’s no comparison to him,” Pippen said. “None. So does that make him the greatest player to ever play the game? I’ll leave that up for debate because I don’t believe there’s a great player because our game’s a team game, and one player can’t do it.”

LeBron James broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record just two months before Pippen made those comments. Pippen’s opinion on the debate has varied in the past, flipping his answer multiple times.

Many felt it was because of their sometimes rocky relationship, which was publicly strained after the release of the Last Dance documentary in 2020. Pippen made multiple statements about Jordan before reconciling in early 2022.

How Sсottie Pіppen Chаnges Hіs Oрinion About The GOAT Through Yeаrs: “I Wouldn’t Tаke LeBron To The Movіes Wіth Me”

Scottie Pippen’s shifting perspectives on the greatest basketball player of all time reflect personal experiences and changing dynamics within the sport.

We compiled all accessible videos featuring Scottie Pippen discussing the GOAT. Over time, his stance shifted from firmly supporting Michael Jordan to favoring LeBron James, particularly following his public disagreement with his former teammate in recent years.

For a considerable duration, Scottie Pippen consistently affirmed Michael Jordan as the greatest player of all time in numerous interviews until 2020.

In an old interview, Pippen responded disdainfully when asked to compare LeBron James and Michael Jordan, dismissing the question as “dumb” and expressing a preference for Jordan.

“That’s a dumb f**king question. I would take LeBron or Michael? I’ve never done anything with LeBron. I wouldn’t take LeBron to the movies with me.”

His blunt rejection of James and assertion that he wouldn’t even take LeBron to the movies with him underscored his loyalty to Jordan and his reluctance to entertain comparisons between the two iconic players.

In 2018, while talking as the guest On The Jump, Scottie Pippen said there is no game where he would pick LeBron James over Michael Jordan.

“Michael Jordan is the greatest player to ever put on shoes and play in our game. No doubt about it. I’m always asked about questions comparing him to LeBron, I try to make the best of it. But really, the comparison shouldn’t ever be made.”

“But there’s no game I would ever play in, where I would pick LeBron James over Michael Jordan. Not if I’m trying to win. I’m not gonna give up my teammate who I won 6 championships with and go and start fishing in a pond thinking I’m gonna catch a bigger fish.”

Then in 2019 as a guest on First Take, Pippen threw shade at LeBron James, saying he doesn’t have clutch genes like Jordan and Kobe Bryant. He did praise LeBron saying that he does a lot more on the court than anyone else but hinted that he didn’t have the killer instinct like Jordan and Kobe.

Again in 2019, he bashed LeBron for calling himself the GOAT, saying that Jordan had never done the same and that his peers call him the greatest.

However, the airing of “The Last Dance” and the subsequent fallout between Pippen and Jordan marked a turning point in Pippen’s public perception of his former teammate.

The catalyst for Pippen’s fluctuating opinions can be traced back to the release of “The Last Dance” documentary series in 2020. This comprehensive look at the Chicago Bulls dynasty from 1996 to 1998 reignited public interest in key figures like Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. It also brought to light tensions between the two former teammates, sparking public disagreements and criticisms between them.

In the aftermath of the documentary, Pippen’s opinions on Jordan began to shift. In 2020, he deviated from his longstanding endorsement of Jordan as the GOAT and instead proclaimed Kobe Bryant as the greatest player of all time.

This departure from his previous stance signaled a willingness to reassess his views in light of new revelations and perspectives brought forth by the documentary.

Additionally, Pippen’s personal life has been subject to public scrutiny, particularly concerning his ex-wife Larsa Pippen, who started a relationship in 2022 with Marcus Jordan, Michael Jordan’s son.

While the actions of Larsa and Marcus are independent of Scottie Pippen, the association between their families may have fueled tensions between Pippen and Jordan, contributing to Pippen’s changing perspective on Jordan.

In the year 2022, Pippen further demonstrated his evolving perspective by declaring LeBron James as the GOAT. His acknowledgment of James’ achievements and impact on the game suggested a broader appreciation for greatness beyond his experiences with Jordan.

However, by 2023, Pippen’s perspective appeared to evolve once again when he stated that there is no definitive GOAT, emphasizing the collective nature of basketball as a team sport. This nuanced viewpoint reflected a broader appreciation for the contributions of all players and the collaborative effort required for success.

Again in 2023, Pippen’s relationship with Jordan seemingly soured when he publicly criticized his former teammate, describing him as a “horrible player.” This unexpected critique marked a significant departure from Pippen’s previous admiration for Jordan and hinted at underlying tensions between the two basketball icons.

Then, just recently in 2024, Pippen’s opinion on Jordan changed again. In an interview on an Australian TV show, Pippen once again declared Jordan as the greatest player in basketball.

“Oh, for sure. You look at the MVPs he was able to achieve but I think it was all brought from us being successful as a team obviously someone’s gonna bring those accolades home but he was the greatest player in basketball.”

After Pippen reiterated Jordan as the GOAT, there is hope that Jordan might reach out to him, fostering the possibility of reconciliation and the renewal of their friendship.

NBA: LeBron James stars in dramatic LA Lakers comeback win against LA Clippers

James’ 19 fourth-quarter points was his highest total in a single period this season

LeBron James scored 34 points to help the Los Angeles Lakers overcome a 21-point deficit in the final quarter to beat the Los Angeles Clippers 116-112.

The 39-year-old scored 19 of his points in that period to quieten the home fans who had seen the Clippers lead 98-77.

Anthony Davis also contributed 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Lakers.

“I was in the zone, can’t really describe it. That was just the feeling – when you feel like everything you put up is going in,” said James.

“[You] wish you could stay in it forever. [You] feel you have a superpower.

“My team-mates did a great job of continuing to find me, and I then just tried to dictate the tempo, dictate the game as we started making a run for it and getting the game closer.”

Kawhi Leonard top scored for the Clippers with 26 points but missed a shot to level with seven seconds left as they fell to a second successive defeat.

“When you’re up 21 points you can’t lose a game like that,” said Clippers coach Tyronn Lue.

“I don’t think that’s ever happened since I’ve been coaching – to lose a 21-point lead in the fourth quarter.”

The Clippers are fourth in the Western Conference standings, having played 57 of the 82 games in the regular season. The Lakers, who have won seven of their past 10, are ninth, having played 60 games.

Elsewhere, Luka Doncic registered 30 points, 11 rebounds and 16 assists as the mid-table Dallas Mavericks beat the struggling Toronto Raptors 136-125.

Nikola Jokic also got a triple double – the 124th of his career – as he contributed 14 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists for the Denver Nuggets in a 117-96 victory over the Sacramento Kings. It was a fourth successive win for the Nuggets who are third in the Western Conference.

DeMar DeRozan scored 35 points for the mid-table Chicago Bulls as they secured a double overtime 132-123 win against the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are second in the Eastern Conference.
