Anthony Davis Shines Bright in Lakers’ Win: 27 Points, 25 Rebounds, and Career-High Seven Steals Propel Team to 12th Victory in 17 Games Against the Timberwolves.

Anthony Davis had 27 points, a season-high 25 rebounds and a career-high seven steals while leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a 120-109 win over the short-handed Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night.

Davis added five assists and three blocked shots in one of the most prolific games of his decorated career. Towns missed his third straight game for Minnesota since being diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his left knee. The big man is likely to be sidelined until the postseason following surgery.

Kyle Anderson also sat out with right shoulder pain, and Monte Morris missed his second straight game with a strained left hamstring.

Lakers swingman Cam Reddish was ruled out with a sprained right ankle. It was the second additional game he has missed since he returned from a monthlong injury absence in late February. The Lakers next play the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.

“It is a missed opportunity, but if we had won, that doesn’t change anything,” Milwaukee coach Doc Rivers said. “We’re trying to go and get better. I thought we had the game in our hands, and we let it go. That happens, and it’ll happen again, and we’ll win some the other way, too.”

Milwaukee took its first lead since early in the second quarter on Antetokounmpo’s jumper with 2:53 to play. Lillard converted a four-point play two possessions later, but Russell trimmed the Bucks’ lead to one point on a three-point play with 39 seconds left.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James missed his ninth game of the season Friday night against the Milwaukee Bucks due to left ankle tendinopathy.

“Just experiencing some severe soreness and we just decided for him not to play tonight,” coach Darvin Ham said of James pregame.

Ham said James’ injury is a “day to day thing” and the team will see how he feels Saturday before determining his status for Sunday’s home game against Minnesota.

Ham added that James’ ankle injury doesn’t appear to be curable before the season ends.

“I don’t think anybody’s injury at this point in the season or anything they’re managing will get better,” Ham said. “I mean, it’s just, it’s the reality of a long NBA season and an extremely long NBA career. And so you just have to be mindful of it, be efficient with what you do with him and what you expose him to.

“And we trust our staff. They’re gonna do their due diligence to make sure he’s put in the best possible position to help us.”

James missed the Lakers’ final game before the All-Star break and their first game back from the break due to the ankle injury, which has affected him for months.

The 39-year-old superstar limped off the floor to the locker room during a Lakers timeout late in their 130-120 loss to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.

“I’ll be all right,” James said Wednesday. “It’s just what I’ve been dealing with before the break, after the break. I’m just managing it the best way I can. … Some games are better than others. … So, each game, each day is different.”

Despite winning 10 of its past 15 games, the Lakers dropped back to 10th in the West this week. They are 4-4 without James this season.

“Everybody goes through disappointments, it’s how you overcome those disappointments. I just wasn’t good enough. In terms of the best thing that could happen to me was to get cut, cause it made me go back and get caught up with my skill level at my height,” Michael Jordan told Jay Leno.

After getting cut, MJ worked on his weaknesses and made it to the varsity team in his junior year. For the next couple of years, after witnessing a growth spurt, he would become a regular 20+ points per game scorer. A teenage Jordan also led the team to the playoffs and became a dynamic two-way sensation.

 

This late spurt in high school made him a sensation in Wilmington. A teenage Jordan used to fill out gyms and fans witnessed a legendary superstar in the making. But when one enters Wilmington, there are not many symbols commemorating Air Jordan, who soared through the gyms.
