According to recent reports from NBA Insider Marc Stein, Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul George is seeking a four-year contract. Stein mentioned that playing for the Clippers will always be George’s first choice. He also noted that the Clippers will give him a short deal as they have already made an agreement with Kawhi Leonard.

“Among the key elements regarding Paul George’s future with the Clippers or elsewhere: League sources say that the 34-year-old continues to seek a new four-year contract. Returning to the Clippers has long been regarded as George’s preferred scenario, but L.A. is believed to this point to be offering a shorter deal along the lines of what it struck with Kawhi Leonard.” Stein wrote in his latest reports.

It is reasonable that the LA Clippers were hesitant to sign George to a four-year contract or longer. Up to this point, George and Leonard’s partnership has only led to one appearance in the Western Conference Finals.

According to StatMuse, the 34-year-old forward played 74 games this season for the Clippers, averaging 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists. Additionally, he was also selected to play in his ninth All-Star game.

Stein Spills the Beans on George’s Savvy Move to Snag a Longer Deal From Clippers Than Leonard

“Can George nudge the Clippers into giving him a four-year deal — longer than Leonard’s — by seriously entertaining his departure? That’s the ongoing dance this week. Trades involving George are generally complicated … even if he does decide before week’s end (as PG-13 is said to be contemplating) to pick up his $48.8 million player option for next season.” Stein continued.

In addition to Stein’s comments, another NBA insider has also given insight into a potential team interested in acquiring George for their roster. NBA Insider for HoopsHype, Michael Scotto, disclosed that a Western Conference powerhouse has emerged as a surprise candidate in the pursuit of trading for Paul George.
