hen it comes to influential celebrities, there is no denying that Taylor Swift is perhaps at the top of the list. She is globally known and her music speaks to a wide audience of people. Swift’s concerts sell out, even with ticket prices in the thousands of dollars. And people will even fly to other countries in order to hear her perform.

But that is not what makes the singer so special. And for many people, she is a true role model because of what she does off the stage and away from the studio. She donates to charity and during her The Eras Tour, she has been donating enough money to fund food pantries in different cities she has stopped in for an entire year. She is literally making a change in the world with her platform and her money.

And yet, a recent editorial from Newsweek has made it clear that Taylor Swift is “not a role model.” But what makes this writer believe that Swift doesn’t deserve the title of role model? Well of course it is because at the age of 34 she is both “unmarried and childless.”

That’s right, Taylor Swift is not a suitable role model to young girls because she is not a married mother.

“At 34, Swift remains unmarried and childless, a fact that some might argue is irrelevant to her status as a role model. But, I suggest, it’s crucial to consider what kind of example this sets for young girls. A role model, by definition, is someone worthy of imitation. While Swift’s musical talent and business acumen are certainly admirable, even laudable, we must ask if her personal life choices are ones we want our sisters and daughters to emulate.Newsweek”

Apparently, the only way a woman in her 30s who donates millions of dollars to charity is allowed to be considered a role model is if she…checks notes…is married and has children.

Now obviously, there was more to this breakdown of why she should not be considered a role model. But again, it all has to do with her personal life and romantic decisions. A lot of the criticism stems from the fact that she has dated at least 12 different men over the course of her career. And that as someone who has spoken out against the patriarchy, she has also chosen to date men who are influential with their own power.

But do you know what we don’t see in the news? How about why a man is not a good role model because he is unmarried and has no children in his 30s? Honestly, we don’t even see it about men in their 40s or later. And of course, we definitely don’t hear the news media complaining that men are dating women who are their equals in terms of influence. It’s really only women like Taylor Swift we need to worry about, after all, who cares if she is willing to do her part to end hunger or help shelter animals stay fed for a full year?

Whether you are a fan of Taylor Swift or not, the fact that someone would go to the trouble of writing an entire breakdown of why she is not a role model because of her status as an unmarried woman with no children is truly troubling. It is problematic for so many reasons and one of the biggest reasons is because it completely negates everything else she has done in her life and makes it seem like the only way any woman can be admired is if they not only get married but also have children (not even taking into account that there are women who may want children and physically can’t have them).

Amid recent rumors that she may be expecting her third child, the 36-year-old is setting the record straight on the size of her family.

Rihanna – who shares her sons RZA, two, and 10-month-old Riot with A$AP Rocky – spoke to Entertainment Tonight on June 10 during her launch party for Rihanna x Fenty Hair, where she was asked about her dreams of becoming a “girl mom.”

The “Diamonds” singer touched on the previous comment she made during a sit-down with Interview in April.

In conversation with Mel Ottenberg, Rihanna had said she would “try for my girl” when asked how many more children she wanted.

TMZ has since learned that O’Neal has become an unofficial advisor of sorts as he gave Hailey Welch lots of tips on how to handle her newfound fame.

The Diesel is said to have advised Hailey to get a team to manage her, as she would encounter many people looking to take advantage of her.

According to said publication’s sources, Welch showed Shaq some of the nasty and hateful comments she got after her “Hawk Tuah” moment went viral.  In turn, he told her not to pay attention to her haters as none of them know her.

The Los Angeles Lakers drafted the 19-year-old as the 55th overall pick last month and have since signed him to a curious four-year contract worth $7.9 million, with three years guaranteed.

There’s been some outrage online because Bronny is a second-round pick who’s gotten a one-way deal, but he might not actually be with the Lakers next season—well, at least not these Lakers.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the former USC guard might spend his rookie year with the South Bay Lakers in the G League, although he is likely to take to the court with his father for the first week of the campaign just for show.

“Well, what the Lakers’ expectations are is that he’ll largely be a G League player like almost any 19-year-old player coming into the league drafted in the second round,” Woj explained during an appearance on ESPN. “I think what you’ll ultimately probably see is Bronny James in the first week of the season on the court with his father, in a very…I don’t want to call it ceremonial but the eyes of the world will be on that. 

“They’ll do that the first week of the season, but there’s no expectation Bronny James is going to be in the Lakers’ rotation. He’ll spend a lot of his time playing with their G League team which shares a practice facility with the Lakers.”

The Kings and Spurs, previously mentioned as competitors to sign Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen, have suddenly entered the discussion over DeRozan, even if the LA Lakers are still linked to him.

DeRozan played with the Spurs for three seasons before signing a sign-and-trade agreement with the Chicago Bulls. Including the forward in their lineup caused the Spurs to miss the playoffs twice and experience one first-round elimination. In his three seasons with the Bulls, DeRozan has just once advanced to the postseason.

Barry Jackson posted, “Kings have talked to the Bulls about DeRozan sign and trade, per source. Spurs are also now another possibility. Despite DeRozan interest in Miami, the Heat is not in a position to give him what he’s seeking at this time… Heat will hope the opportunity on some player it wants arises this summer.”

The most recent information follows rumors that DeRozan’s camp will decide within a day. Now that it appears the Miami Heat will withdraw from the competition, three clubs are in the running, barring a team that signs Markkanen.

During a prior interview for the ‘Old Man & Three’ podcast, DeMar DeRozan discussed his time as the Spurs’ head coach and his time with now-Lakers head coach JJ Redick. Despite his excellent statistical performance, the forward said it troubled him because the team was not well-known nationwide.

Despite not having a pre-draft workout with the Lakers, Knecht has always been confident in his abilities.

“I feel like I’ve always had that. Ever since I touched a basketball, I knew that I could do it; it was just a matter of how. My journey is not like everybody else’s, but that’s OK; everybody has a journey of their own. So just creating my path is something special, and a lot of kids will look up to it. So that’s really cool to wrap my head around,” Knecht said.

Now, Knecht is prepared to bring the same work ethic to the Lakers that he has demonstrated throughout his basketball career.
