There’s a new record for the highest price paid for a Michael Jordan basketball card.

A 2003-04 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection autographed Jordan Logoman card sold for $2.928 million at collectibles marketplace Goldin on Saturday. The card was numbered 1-of-1, per ESPN’s Dan Hajducky.

Logoman cards feature the NBA logo patch cut from game-used jerseys and are usually limited to just one copy. According to Hajducky, the card sold on Saturday is the first Jordan Logoman to feature a Chicago Bulls jersey. It also received an “Authentic” grade and a perfect 10 on-card autograph from card grader PSA.

Ken Goldin, CEO and founder of Goldin, highlighted the significance of the card, which hasn’t been available at public action until Saturday. Hajducky noted that the card hadn’t been publicly discovered until 2022.

“Words can simply not express the historical significance and the importance of this card,” Goldin said. “It is, without a doubt, the single best and the single most valuable Michael Jordan card — and the most sought-after — that has ever been produced.”

While the card was purchased at a lofty price, it’s far from the most expensive sports card ever sold. Mickey Mantle’s 1952 Topps card sold for $12.6 million in 2022, taking the crown. Jordan’s game-worn jersey from Game 1 of the 1998 Finals holds the record for the most expensive sports memorabilia of all time after it was sold for $10.1 million in 2022.

Kylie Kelce is the MVP of the “Eras Tour.”

Fox Sports veteran reporter Erin Andrews recalled having “a meltdown” after encountering former NFL star Jason Kelce’s wife in the bathroom at night one of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in London this past weekend.

During Wednesday’s episode of her and co-host Charissa Thompson’s “Calm Down” podcast, Andrews shared a story about how Kylie assisted a distressed Swiftie during the concert.

“She’s amazing. She was really, really a cool girl. I’ll also say this, an amazing mother. She saw a fan maybe that needed water right away, didn’t think twice about it,” Andrews said. “She grabbed water from the tent, threw it at the fan. I was like, this chick is incredible. Kylie, she’s amazing.”

Andrews and Thompson, both die-hard Swifties, attended the London” Eras Tour” on Friday and praised Kylie as “the MVP” of the night. Thompson even compared the mother of three to Swift herself.

“She did like what Taylor does where she’s like, someone needs help. She’s like scanning the crowd, gets water, the whole thing,” Thompson explained. “Yeah, she’s a dream.”

The Fox Sports personalities and BFFs — who jokingly take credit for matchmaking Swift and boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, last summer — enjoyed VIP treatment at the concert with their significant others: two-time Stanley Cup champion Jarret Stoll and entrepreneur Steven Cundari.

“We. Made. It.,” Andrews wrote on her Instagram Story, including a video of her and Thompson jumping up and down dancing to Swift, whom she called “queen.”

On Wednesday’s episode of their podcast, the two detailed Travis’ behind-the-scenes involvement in his girlfriend’s record-breaking tour.

It was the first time Thompson, 42, had been to a Swift concert with Travis.

‘There is a picture that I took just of her on stage and he is, like, off to the side, and the way that he looks at her when [she’s] performing — I said to him, like: ‘You must be so proud.’ He was like: ‘You have no idea,” Thompson said.

Andrews also raved about the viral moment of Swift serenading Travis with her 2019 hit “Lover” as he stood in the crowd.

She praised Travis for visibly cherishing the experience of being there for his girlfriend.

“We were kinda all standing there watching it and it was awesome,” the host said. “For romantics like Charissa and I, for a guy that we cheer for on and off the field, and obviously we’re massive fans of hers, it was really cool and it was kinda like an inside look of, like, a relationship that all of us had been hoping for. But it was really, really special and he was just standing there and just taking her in.”

In August 2023, Andrews and Thompson publicly urged Swift to consider dating the Chiefs star.

“Please, try our friend Travis. He is fantastic,” Andrews said. “I know we’re not the best of friends, we’re not even friends, but I consider you one. Take us up on this. Go on a date with this guy. Do it for America.”

Swift and Travis took their relationship public in September 2023.

During an appearance on “The Tonight Show,” Andrews and Thompson playfully claimed to Jimmy Fallon they were the ones who sparked the romance.

Thompson explained that she and Andrews “were advocating early on” for Swift and Travis.

“(Travis) was very sweet and he commented [last summer] and he was like, ‘I owe you guys big time,’ so then, of course, everyone gives us credit,” Thomson said. “…We just love both of them and I’m so happy to see them happy.”

The Lakers are looking to reduce LeBron James’s max contract to create more cap space. “There’s still a conversation with agent Rich Paul and Lakers on James taking $1 million or so below max to keep team below second-apron and able to keep a little more roster-building flexibility, source tells ESPN,” Wojnarowski wrote in his latest post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

On Wednesday, it was reported that James and the Lakers reached a two-year, $104 million maximum contract agreement. The contract grants James a no-trade clause and a player option for the 2025-2026 season. If James were to sign the entire maximum contract for over $50 million, the Lakers would slightly exceed the $188.9 million second apron. Once the Lakers have used up their whole salary, they cannot take out more funds. However, according to recent reports by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, King James is prepared to take a pay cut to add some essential players to the roster in order to play better in the next season.

Meanwhile, the Lakers have failed to add former Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson to the roster, as Klay agreed to a three-year, $50 million contract with the Dallas Mavericks. However, a former NBA player didn’t hold back on the situation and gave his opinion on the matter. During a recent episode of the show “First Take,” the host Kendrick Perkins, who recently had a social media fight with James, mentioned that he believes the Lakers and LeBron are on “two different pages.”

NBA legend Michael Jordan played cards for a lot of money on Chicago Bulls flights with teammates.

Will Perdue, who won three NBA titles with Jordan, said in Episode 6 of “The Last Dance” documentary that Jordan’s life was just one big competition.

Perdue, who was once punched in the face by Jordan, said Jordan once asked John Paxson if he could play blackjack with him even though Paxson was only playing for a dollar a hand.

“Scottie [Pippen], Michael, Ron Harper would play cards in the back of the plane for major money,” Perdue said. “I’m talking thousands of dollars. And me, John Paxson, B.J. Armstrong would play blackjack in the front of the plane for a dollar a hand. He knows that we would never play with him in the back ’cause it’s just too much money, but he would come up to the front, he’s like, ‘What are you guys doing? You mind if I play?’

“I remember John Paxson looking at him and going, ‘Why in the hell do you want to play with us? We’re playing for a dollar a hand.’ I remember he looked at him and goes, ‘Because I wanna say I got your money in my pocket.’”

Jordan loved to gamble with his teammates during his 15-year NBA career. He would mainly bet on the golf course and during card games on the team plane.

One instance occurred when Jordan beat a Bulls player in a card game and won $17,000, but the defeated player didn’t have the money. Not only was Jordan angry, but he also forced his teammate to call his dad to get the funds.

In Sam Smith’s 2014 oral history of Jordan called “There Is No Next,” legendary Bulls assistant coach Johnny Bach shared a story of Jack Haley losing $17,000 to Jordan during a card game on a flight from Chicago to L.A. When the flight landed, Jordan demanded payment, but Haley said he didn’t have the money.

“Michael said, ‘Well, then you get it. You call Daddy Warbucks now.’ Daddy owns a restaurant,” Bach said, via Chicago Sports historian Jack M. Silverstein. “Daddy had to meet him next morning and give him cash. Michael said, ‘Don’t f—ing play with me, Jack, if you can’t pay off. I don’t want your money, but you lost, and Daddy has to come with that money in cash.’ You better take Michael seriously.”

The Bulls went 6-0 in the NBA Finals during the ’90s thanks to Jordan, who averaged 33.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists in 35 Finals games against the Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns, Seattle SuperSonics and Utah Jazz.

Not only did Jordan win all six Finals MVPs, but he also never had to play in a Game 7.

Remember I was on Taylor’s side when Scooter [Braun] bought her masters behind her back,” he continued, referencing when the “Cruel Summer” singer’s catalog was sold without her consent in 2019. “She and Beyoncé are big inspirations to all musicians. We always say how both sell out tours and movies.”

Kanye continued, “I’m sure I’ve been far more helpful to Taylor Swift’s career than harmful. To all Taylor Swift fans, I am not your enemy uuuum I’m not your friend either though lol.”

Taylor and Kanye’s drama began in 2009 when he interrupted her acceptance speech to declare that Beyoncé, 42, deserved to win the category. While the musicians seemingly mended fences, they reignited their feud when Kanye included a crude lyric about Taylor in his 2016 song “Famous.” The father of four rapped, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous.”

 

Kanye’s then-wife, Kim Kardashian, escalated the drama when she alleged that Taylor approved of the lyric during a phone call with the “Heartless” rapper. However, Taylor’s spokesperson claimed that he did not ask for her approval of the lyric and instead asked her to promote it on social media. Kim, 43, later released video footage of the alleged phone call, in which the “Enchanted” singer seemingly called the lyric a “compliment.” However, Taylor later claimed that the phone call was “illegally recorded” and “manipulated.”

Not only did Kanye insist he helped Taylor’s career in the lengthy post, but he also shut down claims that she had him “kicked out” of the Super Bowl on February 11 after former NFL star Brandon Marshall made the allegation during the Monday, February 12, episode of I Am Athlete’s “Paper Route.”

“I didn’t get kicked out of the Super Bowl. We left our seats to go to YG’s box and see different friends,” he wrote about himself and wife Bianca Censori. “My wife had never been to a Super Bowl, so I wanted to walk around and have a nice time. We had such a fun day.”

DeRozan played with the Spurs for three seasons before signing a sign-and-trade agreement with the Chicago Bulls. DeMar DeRozan Once Stated on Feeling ‘Irrelevant’ With the Spurs

During a prior interview for the ‘Old Man & Three’ podcast, DeMar DeRozan discussed his time as the Spurs’ head coach and his time with now-Lakers head coach JJ Redick. Despite his excellent statistical performance, the forward said it troubled him because the team was not well-known nationwide.

He said, “I had great games. I developed in a lot of great ways as a basketball player but in the same token, I just felt nonexistent for those years. It wasn’t like we were on TV, we weren’t competing. There was so much to it that was a struggle. I just felt like I was irrelevant.”

DeMar DeRozan led the team in assists per game with 6.2 and shot 49 percent while averaging 21.6 points per game throughout his three seasons with the Spurs. He acknowledged that head coach Gregg Popovich has raised his game to a new level. He now has the opportunity to sign a contract and rejoin his previous squad and coach. Or will they be beaten to it by the Kings or Lakers?

NBA legend Scottie Pippen wrote in his book,” Unguarded,” that he used to prank Michael Jordan by putting toy snakes in his locker.

Jordan and Pippen won six NBA championships on the Chicago Bulls in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997 and 1998.

“I felt so relaxed at practice I threw a rubber snake at Michael,” Pippen wrote. “He flinched, as usual. Michael was scared to death of snakes. I used to buy toy snakes and put them in his locker whenever I had the chance. The look on his face was priceless. I couldn’t stop laughing.”

Most NBA fans assumed that Jordan and Pippen were close friends since they were incredible teammates.

However, Pippen wrote in his book that he and Jordan were never close.

“Michael and I aren’t close and never have been,” Pippen wrote. “Whenever I call or text him, he usually gets back to me in a timely fashion, but I don’t check in just to see how he’s doing. Nor does he do the same. Many people might find that hard to believe given how smoothly we connected on the court.

“Away from the court, we are two very different people who have led two very different lives. I was from the country: Hamburg, Arkansas, population about 3,000; he was from the city: Wilmington, North Carolina.”

They may not have been close off the court, but Jordan and Pippen were undoubtedly “connected” on the floor.

The Bulls were 514-177 in the regular season when Jordan and Pippen played. They went 6-0 in the NBA Finals and three-peated twice.

Jordan averaged 31.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 2.5 steals and 0.8 blocks alongside Pippen, while Pippen averaged 17.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 2.0 steals and 0.9 blocks next to Jordan.

Pippen had two stints with the Bulls. He averaged 17.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 2.1 steals and 0.9 blocks.

Pippen, one of the greatest two-way players in NBA history, made seven All-Star teams, seven All-NBA teams and 10 All-Defensive teams with Chicago.

Jordan also played for the Bulls twice. He averaged 31.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 2.5 steals and 0.9 blocks and won five MVPs, six Finals MVPs, 10 scoring titles and one Defensive Player of the Year.

MJ made 12 All-Star teams, 11 All-NBA teams and nine All-Defensive teams with Chicago.

Taylor is a bona fide billionaire with her net worth coming in at $1.1 billion. She reached the milestone ​in October 2023 with the release of her album 1989 (Taylor’s Version,) according to Bloomberg, which called the report the “most definitive account yet” of Taylor’s total earnings.

Taylor’s net worth earned her a spot for the first time on Forbes’ 2024 World’s Billionaires List, a compilation of the richest people on the planet. Some of her peers on the list include Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and Bill Gates.

Bloomberg also broke down the Grammy winner’s revenue and took into account the profits made from her Eras tour and movie tickets and her music catalog, as well as the value of her seven homes located in Tennessee, California, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York.

However, most of her income comes from her live performances and concert tours. Her Eras tour was the first live music tour to ever hit the billion-dollar mark. When it’s all said and done, Taylor will have made 151 stops across five different countries, meaning there’s more money to be made.

“We consistently see other artists underpricing tours and leaving so much money on the table because the secondary market is profitable,” labor economist Carolyn Sloane told CBS Moneywatch ​on February 9, 2024. “Taylor is pricing much closer to market demand than her peer artists, and she has an authenticity and level of trust with her fans that allow her to do that.”

Bloomberg also estimated that Taylor has made approximately $175 million off her streaming deals with Spotify, Apple Music and more.

Taylor Swift Is Known for Her Generous Donations

No one can accuse Taylor of not being generous with the money she makes and the “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” has donated millions over the years. In 2012, Taylor donated $70,000 in books to her hometown library in Reading, Pennsylvania. The superstar celebrated “Swiftmas” in 2015 and paid off one fan’s student loans, and in February 2024, Taylor donated $100,000 to the victim of the Kansas City parade shooting.
