KANSAS City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes went viral for his bling while appearing at a Dallas Mavericks game, but he also wasn’t afraid to reveal his belief that an NBA star could play in the NFL.

The Chiefs quarterback, 28, shared the belief while on hand for the Mavericks-Oklahoma City Thunder NBA Playoffs Game 3 matchup on Saturday.

And Patrick was the one who turned heads, and for two particular reasons.

The first reason was Mahomes’ choice of jewelry: a necklace of black diamonds with a diamond cross.

Mahomes paired the shiny accessory with a simple white T-shirt.

The other reason was a stance regarding Oklahoma City Thunder star Luguentz Dort.

ABC play-by-play broadcaster Dave Pasch revealed that Mahomes told himself and colleague and analyst Hubie Brown that the Chiefs quarterback thinks Dort could play in the NFL if he wanted to.

“Pat, unsolicited, just turned to Hubie and I and said Lu Dort could play in the NFL,” Pasch said.

“I don’t know if he was kidding or serious, but he said he could play linebacker, or running back.”

Mahomes’ remark came as the sports world has recently debated whether NBA players can also play in the NFL.

Still, fans were enamored with Mahomes and the jewelry he wore at the game.

“That necklace is blinding,” one wrote.

“I have never in my life seen black diamonds dancing before. Patrick Mahomes really got money money,” another commented.

Mahomes gave kudos to Dort’s athletic play as well as his physicality.

The latter ability was on display as the 25-year-old picked up six personal fouls that led to him being fouled out late in the fourth quarter.

Mahomes and his jewelry seemed to be the lucky charms for the Mavericks who beat the Thunder in Game 3.

Patrick is a Dallas sports fan as the six-time Pro Bowler is a Texas native.

Mahomes and his wife Brittany could make another appearance for Game 4 in Dallas on Monday night.

The Thunder will try to even the series 2-2.

This is Williams’ first campaign since becoming creative director of Louis Vuitton menswear. His tapping Rihanna hits a personal note, as the pair have been friends and musical collaborators for years.

Williams spoke about Rihanna in November 2020, raving to Allure about her and her work so far on her highly-anticipated ninth album. She previously teased that she was working with Williams and his producing partner, Chad Hugo of The Neptunes and N.E.R.D., in February 2020.

“Rih is in a different place right now,” Williams told Allure. “Like, wow. She’s from a different world.” He then joked that she may just be from Venus: “I’m willing to bet, because Venus is gaseous, that if they had a telescope that could zoom through all that sh*t, you’d see Rih laying there naked.”

With a seven-year career that includes two MVP nominations, one Offensive Player of the Year award, six Pro Bowl selections, and three Super Bowl rings, Mahomes’ choice to enter the NFL early has undoubtedly paid off.

 

Mahomes is not the only NFL quarterback known for his academic prowess. Los Angeles Chargers’ Justin Herbert boasts a 4.01 GPA from the University of Oregon, while Russell Wilson of the Pittsburgh Steelers earned a 4.0 GPA at NC State and Wisconsin.

Dec. 9, 2018: Chiefs 27, Ravens 24 (OT)

Mahomes led the Chiefs on a comeback in the fourth quarter of his first MVP season, also the season when Jackson took over the starting quarterback job from Joe Flacco in November (his rookie campaign). He threw a game-tying touchdown pass to Damien Williams with 57 seconds left to force overtime.

Harrison Butker — who missed a field goal for the win in regulation — drilled a 35-yard kick in overtime on the Chiefs’ first possession. Jackson was injured on the Ravens’ possession to tie it up, as Robert Griffin III had to finish the game.

Sept. 22, 2019: Chiefs 33, Ravens 28

The Chiefs built a 20-3 lead in the first half and kept that 17-point lead in the fourth quarter. Thanks to Jackson, the Ravens made the game closer than it actually was. Jackson went 22 of 43 for 267 yards (70.6 rating), but had a few highlight reel plays in the final quarter (also rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown).

Mahomes looked like the reigning MVP, finishing 27 of 37 for 374 yards and 3 touchdowns (132.0 rating).

Sept. 28, 2020: Chiefs 34, Ravens 20

Mahomes had another standout game against the Ravens defense, going 31 of 43 for 385 yards with 4 touchdowns (133.5 rating) while also rushing for 26 yards and a touchdown. The Ravens scored just one offensive touchdown all game, as Jackson went 15 of 28 for 97 yards and a touchdown (73.1 rating), also rushing for 83 yards.

The Chiefs led, 27-10, at halftime in this one. The Ravens cut the lead to 27-20 in the fourth quarter, but Mahomes responded on the ensuring drive with a touchdown pass to offensive lineman Eric Fisher that sealed the win.

Sept. 19, 2021: Ravens 36, Chiefs 35

Jackson finally had his signature moment against the Chiefs, leading the Ravens back from a 35-24 fourth-quarter deficit to pull off the victory. His 2 rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter sparked the Ravens comeback, a game full of big touchdown throws between the quarterbacks and a defensive return score by each team.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s fumble on the Ravens’ 32-yard line with 1:24 left took away Mahomes’ comeback attempt on a night during which he went 24 of 31 for 343 yards with 3 touchdowns and an interception (131.5 rating). Jan. 28, 2024: Chiefs 17, Ravens 10

The 2024 AFC Championship Game was Mahomes’ signature playoff moment on the road, going 30 of 39 for 241 yards and a touchdown (100.5 rating). That included a nearly flawless first half as Kansas City built a 17-7 lead before the break.

The defense stole the show in this one, holding Jackson and the Ravens offense to just three points in the second half. Zay Flowers fumbled in the end zone and Jackson threw an interception to Deon Bush in the end zone to take points off the board twice in the second half.

Travis Kelce has joined the illustrious ranks of pop culture figures like Jake Gyllenhaal, John Mayer, Harry Styles, and Joe Jonas as people that pop superstar Taylor Swift has written hit songs about. That’s quite the list, when you think about it.

Unlike most of those names, the songs about Travis Kelce, So High School and The Alchemy, are positive songs! The two tracks debuted on Taylor Swift’s new double album, The Tortured Poets Department, released back in April.

The tracks have pretty direct football references, and there’s no way those are about the album’s other two muses and Swift exes, actor Joe Alwyn and The 1975 frontman Matty Healy. Instead, they’re definitely about her boyfriend, the three-time Super Bowl-winning tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Taylor Swift started the European leg of her record-setting Eras Tour this weekend in Paris. And, Travis Kelce made the trip across the Atlantic for Sunday’s show! Swift added a few songs from TTPD to her set list for the tour, which has been going on since last spring. One of those is So High School.

That meant that Kelce got to see Swift play the song she wrote about their love at a concert for the first time. Concertgoers got some of his reaction on camera. Take a look.

Patrick Mahomes raised a toast to women’s sports in a recently posted video from the TIME100 Gala on April 25.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback attended the ceremony after being named on the publication’s prestigious 100 Most Influential People list last month.

In a video posted by TIME on Monday, May 3, the three-time Super Bowl MVP used his moment on stage to praise women’s sports and gave a shoutout to Las Vegas Aces star A’Ja Wilson.

‘Tonight I’d like to raise a glass to a new era in sports,’ Mahomes opened. ‘An era in which the women’s game is finally getting the attention it deserves.’

‘For a long time, there was this well-meaning but patronizing idea that you should care about women’s sports because that aligns with your values. And sure, there’s some merit to that. But the real reason you should care about women’s sports is because they’re incredible.’
