Travis Kelce has called girlfriend Taylor Swift ‘the biggest and best thing possible’ after talking about his whirlwind trip to see her in Australia last month.

 

The NFL star landed in Sydney on February 22 to meet up with his popstar girlfriend after his Super Bowl victory with the Kansas City Chiefs and watch her perform one of her Eras Tour shows.

The A-list couple were also pictured on a day out at Sydney Zoo before Kelce took his place at Accor Stadium to watch his girlfriend perform in front of yet another sold-out crowd.

The couple were reportedly staying together at the high-end hotel Crown Towers in a suite that runs up over $16,300 USD ($25,000 AUD).

However, the couple’s reunion was short and sweet as Kelce boarded a flight just a couple of days later to return to the US for more celebrations with the Chiefs in Las Vegas.

Speaking on the latest episode of their New Heights podcast, Kelce was full of praise for his lover’s talent and admitted he had a great time Down Under.

When asked by brother Jason ‘what the hell is your life right now?’, Kelce said: ‘Well dude it’s a wild ride. I will tell you this, Australia did not disappoint.

‘Only went to Sydney, got a lot of friends I’ve met over the years that are out there in Melbourne and definitely want to get out there and see you guys and see what Melbourne has to offer.

‘But Sydney was a beautiful city, I want to say similar to Miami, a lot of intercoastal, it was cool to say the layout of the land over there, let alone the zoo and seeing the exotic animals.’

Jason interrupted his brother and asked how the couple were pictured as they walked around the zoo together.

Kelce continued: ‘There were full on helicopters just flying around.

‘They helicoptered us, well not us. This is all because Taylor is the biggest and the best thing possible.’

‘And they are like “alright, make sure that door is closed when you get out. Quickly close this one because they are escape artists” and I was like this thing has got so many brownie points from me. These things are escape artists.’

Talking about their encounter with lions, Kelce continued: ‘Dude when you hear that roar – Taylor taking a picture and you see three of them run down from their perch knowing they are about to get fed, you see how fast and agile that thing is, it’s over.

‘You could tell one was the like big, bad – I was like damn, that’s a bad man right there. It was fun.’

Talking about the show, Kelce said: ‘Sydney did not disappoint. The crowds there are already rowdy, they were just a little bit louder than the Argentina crowd.

‘I was not expecting that because Argentina was f***ing loud. They were into it, so was Sydney.

‘Taylor is very fond of performing in Australia because of the crowds over there and how into it they get.’

When Jason pointed out there were a number of Kelce jerseys in the crowd, Travis replied: ‘There were a few. There’s a good American football crowd out there and Taylor fans, I think they wanted to show support.

Oddly, Haslem referenced something LeBron did at 25 to justify why he would take him over Giannis at 39. Giannis, too, has experienced crushing playoff defeats before winning a title. He lost in the 2019 Eastern Conference Finals after the Bucks took a 2-0 lead. He then lost to the Heat in the Eastern Conference Semifinals the following postseason.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has won an NBA title but has only won one playoff series since then. Getting humiliated coincidentally by the Heat in the first round may very well have pushed Giannis to improve, but he’ll have to demonstrate as such in the postseason.

LeBron James didn’t have to go crazy offensively for the Los Angeles Lakers to take down the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night. LeBron finished with 19 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists in the victory, but it was the Lakers’ defense that was the story on this night.

 

The Lakers held the Thunder’s high-powered offense 17 points below their season average and just 39.4% shooting overall. It was another example of the identity the Lakers want to impose, playing hard-nosed defense and being able to get out in transition offensively for easy buckets.

The Thunder are not an easy team to hold down and when asked how the Lakers were able to do so, LeBron pointed to the team just keeping the Thunder in front of them, and clearing the glass.

“I think we did a good job of keeping bodies in front of bodies,” James said after the Lakers’ 12-point victory. “We know they’re one of the best one-on-one teams in the league and they live in the paint, but they’re also been shooting the ball extremely well from the outside as well. So just trying to keep bodies on bodies and then if we can get them to miss, we can clean glass. We didn’t give them many second-chance points and that was key.”

LeBron would continue, noting that rebounding was a point of emphasis against this team. “We definitely understood that if we’re gonna make a team like this miss, if they do miss, we got to clean glass. I thought we did that from start to finish.”

The Lakers out-rebounded the Thunder 55-to-38 and while Oklahoma City did grab 13 offensive rebounds on the night, they finished with just 15 second-chance points, unable to take advantage of it.

But it wasn’t just defense as the offense shined as well. The Lakers had 29 assists on their 41 made baskets and knocked down 16 3-pointers. LeBron understands there are still areas to clean up, but is happy with the state of the team’s offense right now.

“Yeah, we understand that when the ball is popping and everybody’s feeling comfortable, we’ve been playing some really good basketball offensively,” James added. “One thing tonight was we had too many unforced turnovers, which we’ll work on. We know we can’t do that. But all in all, I think obviously, DLo caught fire, TP was sensational tonight with his shooting ability, and everybody came off the bench. I think Spence had a plus-35 off the bench. So that was big time for our ballclub too.”

The Lakers continue to prove that they can hang with the best teams in the league on any given night, it will simply be a matter of consistency to get them where they want to be.
