Eunice Mecija, a Taylor Swift fan from the Philippines, shared how she budgeted for the Eras Tour in Singapore.
Mecija’s journey includes a flight to Malaysia, and then a bus trip to Singapore.
She said it’s worth splurging on the trip as she has been a Swiftie since she was in elementary school.

This as-told-to story is based on a conversation with Eunice Mecija, a 24-year-old graphic artist and Taylor Swift fan from the Philippines. It’s been edited for length and clarity. Business Insider verified Mecija’s expenses.

I’ve been a Taylor Swift fan for as long as I can remember. When I was in elementary school, my dad and I used to bond over Taylor’s music during car rides. We often purchased her burned pirated CDs at a local mall in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, where I live.

 

I’ve had to follow Taylor from afar. The last time she had a concert in the Philippines was in 2014 during her Red Tour. So when it was announced that Taylor’s only Eras Tour stop in Southeast Asia was in Singapore, I knew missing my favorite artist was out of the question. Singapore was one of the five countries I traveled to last year, and knowing how safe the city-state is influenced my decision to secure tickets.

Expense: Concert ticket

How much it cost: $294

My friend’s sister lives in Singapore, so she helped me score a ticket during the pre-sale for cardholders with United Overseas Bank. There were over 1 million people in the virtual line to snag tickets.

I managed to purchase a Category 3 ticket for $294.

Expense: International transportation — flight and bus

How much it cost: $260

The next step was to book flights to Singapore. Direct flights from Manila on carriers like Singapore Airlines and Scoot were already sold out. I decided to book a flight from Manila to Kuala Lumpur with AirAsia instead for 14,000 Philippine pesos, or around $250.

To get to Singapore, I booked a return bus ticket from Kuala Lumpur to the city-state for 664 pesos, which is way cheaper than flying there.

I’ve planned to be in Singapore from March 6 to 9 to catch the concert. I’m also planning to spend three days before and after the concert in the Malaysian capital. I invited my parents to join me in Kuala Lumpur in the days following the concert.

I booked six nights at a four-star hotel in Kuala Lumpur, which cost 335 Malaysia ringgit, or around $70, per night. That amounted to some $420 in total.

In Singapore, I booked a four-star hotel for 311 Singapore dollars, or around $230, per night. For three nights, it cost me $690.

In total, I budgeted a little over $1,600 for this trip. I avoid being too tight with money on vacations as I enjoy some luxuries on my trips. After all, why settle for less when you can treat yourself a little?

I’m also gearing up for another trip to Stockholm for Taylor’s Eras Tour stop there in May. I managed to snag the “We Never Go Out of Style” package, which cost 2,625 Swedish krona, or $250. That includes a reserved standing room, early entrance privileges, and VIP perks. Surprisingly, international tickets were more affordable than typical concert tickets in the Philippines, which can cost more than $300 for the best categories.

Overall, I feel like it was absolutely worth it to splurge on this trip. Many of my friends are Swifties, and they were supportive and happy that I could finally see Taylor in person. And I’m excited to indulge in Singapore’s food scene again. I’ve been craving the perfect fishball noodle for a year and can’t wait to have a feast at a local food court.

City-state’s culture minister says grant given to pop icon ‘not anywhere as high as speculated’.

 

Singapore has downplayed the size of a grant it paid Taylor Swift after the city-state’s efforts to lure the pop icon led to complaints from regional neighbours.

Singapore’s Culture Minister Edwin Tong said on Monday that speculation about the size of the grant was “not accurate”.

“I can say that it is not accurate and not anywhere as high as speculated, but due to business confidentiality, we cannot reveal the specific size and conditions of the grant,” Tong told Parliament in response to questions from lawmakers.

Tong said the government was also confident that the economic benefits of Swift’s six concert dates in the city would be “significant and outweigh the size of the grant”.

Tong’s remarks come after Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin last month told a business forum that Singapore had paid Swift between $2m and $3m on the condition she not perform in any other country in Southeast Asia.

“If I had known this, I would have brought the shows to Thailand,” Srettha was quoted as saying in the Bangkok Post. “Concerts can generate added value for the economy.”

Philippine legislator Joey Salceda last week called on Manila to grill Singapore about the reported grant, saying such behaviour is “not what good neighbours do”.

Singapore officials had previously acknowledged offering Swift a grant to come to the city-state, without disclosing its terms, due to the benefits she would have on tourism-related sectors such as accommodation, retail and dining.

Singapore’s Channel News Asia has reported that hotels and airlines saw demand for flights and accommodation around the dates of the concerts jump by up to 30 percent.

Apart from four shows in Japan last month, Swift’s concerts in Singapore are the only stops she is making in Asia as part of her The Eras Tour.

The sold-out shows, which run until March 9, are being attended by some 300,000 fans, including those from neighbouring countries such as Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.

Swift, one of the most successful music artists of all time with 14 Grammy wins and hundreds of millions of album sales worldwide, performed the first of her Singapore concerts on Saturday, after wrapping up the Australian leg of her tour last week with a show in front of 81,000 fans at Sydney’s Accor Stadium.

The hunky NFL star, 34, wore several Taylor-Swift inspired friendship bracelets to brother Jason Kelce’s retirement press conference on Monday — including one with a sweet nod to his leading lady.

Eagle-eyed fans on Twitter were quick to point out that Travis appeared to be keeping his love close by wearing a bracelet that spelled out “T T” during the emotional event.

The sentimental piece was made up of small brown, black and gold beads — a stark contrast to the $6,000 “TNT” diamond friendship bracelet he bought Swift last yearAlthough the Kansas City Chiefs star wore two other bracelets, it’s unclear what they spelled out. The tight end put the bracelets on full display when he went to wipe his eyes with a tissue during Jason’s lengthy speech.

Travis, who wore a color-blocked button-down, was seated in the front row alongside his parents, Donna and Ed Kelce, as well as his sister-in-law, Kylie Kelce.Both the Kelce brothers were overcome with emotion throughout the announcement, with Travis trying to conceal his tears with a pair of dark sunglasses.

Tranquill is re-signing with Kansas City on a three-year, $19 million deal with $13 million guaranteed, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday night.

ESPN first reported Tranquill and the Chiefs had agreed to terms.

A free-agent addition last offseason after four years with the rival Los Angeles Chargers, Tranquill’s versatility shined for the Chiefs in their run to a Super Bowl triumph.

In 16 games played, Tranquill got eight starts, recorded 78 tackles, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and seven tackles for loss. A standout this past season rushing the passer, Tranquill’s also solid in pass coverage and was a savior of sorts when Nick Bolton was injured.

Tranquill’s re-signing likely means Willie Gay Jr., also an impending free agent, will sign elsewhere.

Tranquill, No. 60 on Gregg Rosenthal’s Top 101 Free Agents, earned a larger role and is now poised for one in the Chiefs’ attempt at a Super Bowl three-peat.

Travis Kelce is leaving on a jet plane once again.

The star Chiefs tight end is en route to Singapore, where girlfriend Taylor Swift is performing as part of her blockbuster Eras Tour, according to the Associated Press.

“For all the Swifties, Travis Kelce is headed to Singapore,” the AP’s Tom Withers reported Wednesday morning on X.

Kelce’s manager confirmed to TMZ that he was indeed on his way to see Swift perform.

Swift, 34, will perform three more shows in Singapore beginning Thursday.

Kelce, also 34, most recently visited Swift in Australia, where she performed in late February.

The couple, who started dating last summer, enjoyed a post-concert kiss in Sydney, as seen in fan-captured videos.

During the show, the three-time Super Bowl champion was seen handing out friendship bracelets and waving to fans.

Kelce also enjoyed a day date with Swift at the Sydney Zoo during his trip.

Wednesday’s news comes off an emotional few days for Kelce, whose older brother, longtime Eagles center Jason Kelce, announced his NFL retirement on Monday.

The All-Pro tight end was in attendance for Jason’s emotional press conference in Philadelphia.

The wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is sharing an important message with her followers.

“Just a daily reminder,” the 28-year-old wrote over a Boomerang selfie video posted to her Instagram Story on Wednesday.

“Once you have kids please take care of your pelvic floor. Seriously,” she added. Brittany signed the warning as “A girl with a fractured back.”

She and her Super Bowl-winning spouse, also 28, share two children together —  daughter Sterling Skye, who was born on Feb. 20, 2021, and their son, Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, who arrived on Nov. 28, 2022.

“But vacaying with my homies will maybe make it better?” she quipped in the Instagram Story that followed,

The family has some extra free time now that football season is over.

The Chiefs came out victorious in their Feb. 11 Big Game against the San Francisco 49ers.

“Three Times,” she captioned an Instagram carousel of her and the pro athlete holding the Vince Lombardi trophy together after the win.

In the upload, Patrick wore his NFL uniform and Brittany rocked a red strapless jumpsuit with the couple’s last name on her pant leg. She kept the support for her hubby going with a necklace that showed off his team number “15.”

A follow-up social media post saw the family of four on the field after the Las Vegas matchup. They were surrounded by Chiefs staff, Patrick’s teammates and event photographers as confetti fell from the stadium ceiling.

“This season was a special one!” Brittany wrote in the caption of the heartfelt post. “This guy never stopped believing in his team.”

Calling her husband “a true leader and a team player,” she added, “I will forever be in awe of you as a person and a football player! You my guy deserved this!!! I love you and am always and forever proud of you ❤️.”

Once the gang was done at the Allegiant Stadium, they packed up and headed to Disneyland.

“The day after the Super Bowl Win, grind for Mom and Dad, best time ever for Sterling and Bronze 😂🤍✨,” Brittany joked in her caption. “But would do it over and over again, so same time next year Dad?? ☺️”

To start the photos off, the family posed in front of Sleeping Beauty’s castle.

Sterling, 3, wore a princess gown while her baby brother, 1, was dressed in a gray jogging suit set.

In between pics of the kids playing with bubbles and toys, the Mahomes family also snapped a couple of photos with Minnie Mouse.

Travis Kelce‘s friends have been the ones sharing the NFL star’s overseas visits to watch girlfriend Taylor Swift perform. The latest was pal Harry Clark on their trip to Singapore, and Swifties want to ​meet and know more about him.

WHAT IS HARRY CLARK’S JOB?
It’s unclear what Harry’s exact job is, but he’s been part of Travis’ entourage for several years and grew up with him in Cleveland, Ohio. He has accompanied the Kansas City Chiefs star to numerous home games, even riding together in Travis’ car as they pulled up into reserved player parking lot in photos shared to Instagram.

Harry is also close friends with other members of Travis’ tight inner circle, including Aric Jones, the Ohio native’s barber, Patrick Regan and his personal chef, Kumar Ferguson. He was present in a suite at Allegiant Stadium when Travis and the Chiefs won Super Bowl 2024 in Las Vegas on February 11, joining Patrick, Kumar and more of Travis’ crew, as well as rapper Quavo.

Harry was also with Travis and his entourage on March 5, 2024, when the Cleveland Cavaliers hosted a Kelce Brothers bobblehead night in honor of the NFL stars who grew up in the city.

DID HARRY CLARK​ TRAVEL WITH TRAVIS KELCE TO SINGAPORE?
Yes! He shared several Instagram Stories videos aboard a private jet on March 7, 2024. In one he was enjoying Shake Shack burgers with Travis’ comanager André A Eanes, President, Cofounder and Chief Business Officer of AA Management Group, aboard the plane. Harry then shared a snapshot while browsing various Nike shoes during a stop at the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands integrated resort in Singapore.

He later posted a video from their suite high atop one of the iconic hotel towers looking out across Singapore. Harry and his friends got the party started by blasting music as he showed a number of Don Julio 1942 tequila shots being poured.

WHY IS TRAVIS KELCE IN SINGAPORE?
The three-time Super Bowl champ flew in to join Taylor during her final two shows at the National Stadium on March 8 and 9, 2024. Travis had previous taken pal Ross Travis as his travel companion when he flew into Sydney, Australia, the month prior to take in one of the “Cruel Summer” singer’s Eras tour shows down under. Ross was also part of the crew who joined him in Singapore.

HAS HARRY CLARK SHARED ANY PHOTOS WITH TAYLOR SWIFT?
Unlike many of Travis’ pals, he has not yet posted any photos alongside the pop superstar to his social media accounts.

WAS HARRY CLARK FRIENDS WITH TRAVIS KELCE’S EX-GIRLFRIEND KAYLA NICOLE?
Kayla appears in several photos on Harry’s Instagram account. In one snapshot from January 26, 2022, Travis is seen holding Kayla from behind in a celebratory pose. Eric, Patrick and Travis’ other comanager, Aaron Eanes, were also seen in the snapshot.

Kayla and Travis were shown together in another photograph from the carousel. The pair broke up later in 2022 after a five-year relationship.
