Chiefs Sigп Eight Players to Fυtυres Coпtracts

With the 2024 NFL offseasoп υпderway, teams are makiпg moves aloпg the friпges for roster expaпsioп to 90 for the пext leagυe year. The Kaпsas City Chiefs are пo differeпt, as the clυb has retaiпed several practice sqυad taleпts as of late.

Earlier this week, пews broke that veteraп defeпsive tackle Isaiah Bυggs was re-sigпed oп a fυtυres coпtract. Per a persoппel пotice oп Wedпesday, he’s joiпed by seveп other players as iпked to пew deals with Kaпsas City. Here’s the fυll list, iпclυdiпg Bυggs:

    DT Isaiah Bυggs
    DT Matt Dickersoп
    DE Trυmaп Joпes
    S Trey Deaп
    CB Keith Taylor
    RB Keaoпtay Iпgram
    RB Deпeric Priпce
    WR Moпtrell Washiпgtoп

Maпy of those пames shoυld be familiar from their coпtribυtioпs dυriпg the regυlar seasoп. No member of the list played a more sigпificaпt role thaп Dickersoп, who played iп 12 games while amassiпg 15 tackles (oпe for loss). The former UCLA staпdoυt logged 190 defeпsive sпaps dυriпg the year, theп aпother 16 iп the Divisioпal Roυпd agaiпst the Bυffalo Bills.

Elsewhere, the trio of Iпgram, Priпce aпd Washiпgtoп had their пames come υp at differeпt poiпts iп the year. After beiпg sigпed to the practice sqυad iп late November, Iпgram was elevated prior to a Week 17 game agaiпst the Ciпciппati Beпgals bυt didп’t play. Priпce, a priority υпdrafted free ageпt pickυp, was a preseasoп staпdoυt aпd played 15 special teams sпaps iп Weeks 14 aпd 15 of the regυlar seasoп. Washiпgtoп was oпe of the Chiefs’ go-to retυrп optioпs iп Weeks 3-6, briпgiпg back oпe kickoff aпd eight pυпts for a combiпed 81 yards.

Joпes was aп υпdrafted free ageпt sigпiпg oυt of Harvard. Deaп sigпed with Kaпsas City’s practice sqυad dυriпg the AFC playoffs. Taylor was activated from the practice sqυad prior to Wild Card Weekeпd bυt didп’t eпd υp playiпg agaiпst the Miami Dolphiпs.

As the Chiefs move forward with their offseasoп, it doesп’t hυrt to keep these players aroυпd the orgaпizatioп. Fυtυres coпtracts are пotorioυsly cheap, aпd 90-maп roster depth is importaпt for every fraпchise to have throυghoυt the offseasoп program. Kaпsas City still has several expired practice sqυad coпtracts to пegotiate iп the comiпg days aпd weeks, bυt this is a solid start followiпg the coпclυsioп of Sυper Bowl LVIII.

  • Patrick Mahomes Says ‘I’m Just a Regular Quarterback’ After Wife Brittany Interrupts His Parade Speech

Patrick Mahomes Says ‘I’m Just a Regular Quarterback’ After Wife Brittany Interrupts His Parade Speech

Patrick Mahomes is taking in the Kansas City Chiefs’ fourth Super Bowl win.

During Wednesday’s Super Bowl victory parade in the Chiefs’ hometown, the quarterback, 28, celebrated his third championship win with shoutouts to his teammates and their “underrated” defense.

“Kansas City, let me hear you one time!” he started off his speech.

“Man, what a year. To battle through the adversity. To continue to go. To go for that championship. They all doubted us. I don’t want to hear any different. But you know who came through in the end? That’s the Kansas City Chiefs. I just want to thank everybody here, because Chiefs Kingdom, y’all are the reason that we do what we do,” Mahomes said.

His wife, Brittany Mahomes, briefly interrupted him to remind him that he’s “a regular quarterback.” She seemingly referenced Tashaun Gipson Sr.’s comments, filmed by Red Tribe Cinema, where the San Francisco 49ers safety says, “That is just a regular f—ing quarterback.”

“I’m a regular quarterback, it is what it is,” he continued. “I gotta give a shoutout to that defense. Can I hear it for the defense? It’s crazy, a defense can win the Super Bowl and still be underrated, and that’s what those boys have been doing. Can I get a shoutout for Harrison Butker? Can I get a shoutout for Tommy Townsend? Can I get a shoutout for James Winchester?”

To finish his speech, he promised to bring the title back to Kansas City in 2025. He said, “Nah, for real though, we appreciate everything y’all do, showing up to Arrowhead every single week. We know we gotta go on the road last year, but I promise you next year we’ll be at home and we’re going for that three-peat, so don’t get it twisted, we’re doing it. Three times, first time in NFL history, we’re doing it. Love y’all.”

After the Chiefs defeated the 49ers 25-22 in overtime, Mahomes lifted the Vince Lombardi Trophy and, for the second time, claimed the title of Super Bowl MVP. In a post-game interview, when asked how he stayed calm to throw the game-winning touchdown, the football star said it was a “microcosm” of their season. He went on to thank his team’s defense and “of course, Harrison Butker,” their kicker who tied the game up in the last 10 seconds of regular time with his field goal.

Mahomes then gave a shout-out to Brittany and their two children, Sterling Skye, 3, and Patrick “Bronze” Lavon, 14 months. His mother Randi and brother Jackson also attended the game.

With the win, Mahomes became the fifth quarterback to have three or more Super Bowl titles under their belt. (Tom Brady won seven and 49ers legend Joe Montana won four, as did Terry Bradshaw with the Steelers and Troy Aikman with the Cowboys.) The Chiefs became the eighth team in league history to defend their title and the first since the New England Patriots in 2005.

As per NFL tradition, the quarterback took a victory lap on Monday with his family in the happiest place on Earth: Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif.

“I enjoy it every single time, and to be back at Disneyland again, after being back last year, it’s a moment that hopefully I’ll keep getting to do over and over again,” he said in an interview at the amusement park. “The energy, the smiles, the love I feel from everybody at the park — I mean, it truly is special, and it’s one of those moments that you’ll have forever.”

Brittany Mahomes jokes Patrick ‘didn’t forget’ Valentine’s Day as the Chiefs quarterback hands his wife a rose while celebrating at Kansas City’s Super Bowl parade

He may still be reveling in his second straight Super Bowl win, but Patrick Mahomes made sure not to forget a Valentine’s Day gift for wife Brittany.

Mahomes and the Chiefs are currently embarking on a victory parade in Kansas City following Sunday’s victory over the San Francisco 49ers at Super Bowl LVIII, with almost one million fans expected to line the streets and toast their latest triumph.

Though despite the celebrations continuing on Wednesday, Kansas City’s superstar quarterback still remembered it is Valentine’s Day as well as the Chiefs’ grand homecoming.

Mahomes’ wife Brittany shared a photo on her Instagram story of Patrick and a rose he gifted to her while at the Super Bowl parade along with the caption: ‘He didn’t forget’.

Brittany watched her husband become a back-to-back Super Bowl champion on Sunday

The couple also posed for a Valentine’s Day selfie on the bus as they headed out to celebrated Patrick’s record-breaking success.

By toppling the Niners in overtime, Mahomes became the first quarterback since Tom Brady in 2005 to lead his team to consecutive Super Bowl wins – while also earning his third championship ring in five years.

The 28-year-old provided the game-winning touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman Jnr, picking out the wide receiver in the end zone with just three seconds of overtime remaining.

In the wake of her husband’s heroics, Brittany shared a text from Patrick predicting that the Chiefs would win the Super Bowl this season at the start of 2024.

Mahomes texted her on January 5 saying ‘I decided we are going to win the Super Bowl’ and again on January 28, shortly after the Chiefs beat the Ravens, saying: ‘I’ll see y’all in Vegas I’m not done.’

He has now won three Super Bowls at the age of 28 and is already planning how to lead the team to an unprecedented ‘three-peat’ next season.

For now, though, Mahomes and Kansas City are set to parade the Vince Lombardi Trophy in front of their home supporters for a second straight year.

Almost a million fans are expected to line the streets for the Chiefs’ parade on Wednesday

Many of the largest school districts in the area have canceled classes due to the parade, while businesses along the Chiefs bus’ path are turning the day into a viewing party for their workers.

At least 600 Kansas City police officers will be stationed along the the 2-mile (3.22-kilometer) route, police Chief Stacey Graves said.

Teens and younger kids were everywhere, some tossing footballs, others watching replays of game highlights on giant TV screens.

“Don’t Thіnk Jordаn Could Ever…”: 2x NBA Chаmр Reveаlѕ Why LeBron Jаmeѕ Iѕ Better Thаn MJ аnd It’ѕ Hіlаrіous

Draymond Green hosted a special guest this time on his podcast. And his reply to one of the perennial questions – LeBron James or Michael Jordan, takes a comical turn. The man in question is none other than James’ teammate during his Miami days, Shane Battier.

The 2x NBA champion admitted that his reply might be biased, because of the relationship the pair cultivated during Bron’s Heat stint. Yet, when Green asked for Battier’s take on whether he has ever played with or against a player as good as LeBron, the Duke product had a wild answer that would surely make one crack a smile. He said, “LeBron did something twice that I don’t think Michael Jordan could ever do once!”

If it were a crowd-filled stadium, this statement would be followed by complete and utter silence. But the 45-year-old did not keep anyone guessing, as he followed up with, “He won two NBA titles with Shane Battier as the starting power forward.” The man clearly has a brilliant sense of humor and it can be seen when he detailed it a little further.

Battier pulled all the stops when he called himself a “bum a** power forward” who Bron dragged across the finish line, clearly pointing to the leadership and determination a prime James had. And that is something MJ, according to Shane, couldn’t even do once.

    Michael Jordan vs LeBron James

We know how King James is unselfish when it comes to passing shots to teammates. He has received wide criticism for the same as well. A recent instance was when he passed a game-winner vs the Heat (Nov. 6, 2023) to a wide-open Cam Reddish, who missed. But the 4x champion had said then, and over the years, that he would do the same every time, no matter what the result would be.

And that’s just one instance of James‘ helping his teammates grow alongside himself and caring for them. Many of the older generation fans might consider this coddling because they lived through the MJ era. The kind of player protection or the culture that franchises of now are trying to build wasn’t something that existed then.

And Jordan is a prime example of that. He demanded and expected nothing short of perfection and a work ethic that he himself abided by. That’s not to say the ‘Akron Hammer’ is lacking in that respect. But simply the more physical kind of basketball during the time MJ played required, for the lack of a better word, Kobe’s “Mamba mentality” through and through.

So when Battier made his statement, all he meant was that you cannot expect Jordan to motivate you into playing the best you can and then some more. What you get from MJ is harsh critiques and some trash talk. And that’s how Michael Jordan became one of the greats. But with LeBron, you can expect him to do everything he can to help you along the ride.

It’s not necessarily a negative feature. Just two basketball greats working in completely different ways.

Travis Kelce went ahead with ‘scaled down’ party which many Chiefs teammates skipped after deadly Super Bowl parade shooting: Taylor Swift’s ‘tone deaf’ boyfriend is seen beaming alongside Brittany Mahomes at Kansas City sports bar

Travis Kelce was among the Kansas City Chiefs stars who went ahead with a ‘scaled down’ celebration just hours after a mass shooting saw the team’s Super Bowl parade descend into tragedy – while other teammates stayed away.

In new pictures, obtained by DailyMail.com, star tight end Kelce – whose relationship with Taylor Swift dominated the NFL this season – was seen in a Kansas City sports bar on Wednesday alongside several teammates and their WAGs – including Patrick Mahomes’ wife Brittany.

He is part of a small group that also includes Brittany, Chiefs punter Tommy Townsend, center Creed Humphrey, tight end Matt Bushman – and his wife Emily.

Sources told DailyMail.com that Mahomes booked the entire venue out for a select few members of the squad and their families. Many of Andy Reid’s team stayed away following the attack which left one person dead and dozens injured in Kansas City.

But Kelce, who led a rendition of the Beastie Boys’ hit ‘Fight For Your Right (to party)’ following the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win, was among those to head out.

This new image is sure to pose more questions for the tight end, who has already come under fire after posing for a smiling selfie with a police officer in the wake of the deadly shooting.

‘The bar was closed for a private event – not a party,’ one source told DailyMail.com.

‘It was a small number of the players, including Travis and Patrick, with their wives and other family members.

‘They were here for a couple of hours, and they helped to cheer up the staff and keep their minds off what happened.

‘It had all been planned out in advance, initially it was meant to be bigger but it got scaled down.’

Kelce has a signed jersey in the restaurant, as well as Mahomes. The bar is decorated with Kansas City memorabilia, with two large bobble heads of the tight end framing the bar.

The tight end appeared in good spirits as he clutched a beer on his way into the Granfalloon Restaurant and Bar, just hours after being rushed off stage with his teammates as several gunmen opened fire on their throes of fans.

At least 30 people were injured in the horror parade shooting, including nine children aged between six and 15, with tributes pouring in for a beloved Kansas City radio DJ who was killed.

Kelce’s post-shooting selfies sparked backlash from some fans, with one saying: ‘Not a good look IMO for him a few hours after a person was killed and others wounded.’

Others defended the Super Bowl star and felt he had a right to enjoy a meal out with his team, hours after he said he was ‘heartbroken’ over the horror shooting.

‘My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. KC, you mean the world to me,’ he said on X.

Kelce enjoyed his night out hours before Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas gave an update on the investigation, saying he is considering blocking any Superbowl victory parades next year if the Chiefs win again following Wednesday’s horror mass shooting.

The mayor, 39, said three suspects remain under questioning over the tragedy (two of which are juveniles), but declined to identify the gunmen who shot 21 people and killed one at Wednesday’s Superbowl parade.

Mayor Lucas didn’t rule out further arrests, and cops said that at least ten people were spoken to in connection with the incident. Multiple firearms were seized as well.

Lucas offered scant new details on the tragedy early Thursday morning, and apologized for ‘failing to keep everybody safe’ at the family event at a 6am press conference Thursday.

‘I’m sorry that this happened yesterday,’ he said.

‘We worked hard to put on an exceptional parade, we spent millions on it, but we failed to keep everybody safe and that’s something I have great guilt over.’

He added in an interview with CBS that a motive for the massacre remains a mystery, and condemned the ease of access to firearms in Missouri as ‘this is not the way I want to live.’

Lucas did not offer specifics on the type of gun used, but said it appeared to be ‘some sort of rapid-fire firearm.’

Several people were seen being wheeled away in a stretcher, with at least 21 people shot in the horror parade massacre

Lucas condemned the easy access the gunmen had to deadly weapons, citing how there were over 800 cops stationed at the parade that were powerless to prevent a senseless mass shooting.

‘Clearly, there is an access to firearm issue for some in our community,’ he said.

‘There’s a person or persons who intentionally or unintentionally fire into a crowd and hit almost two dozen people, our officers can be on it in an instant yet there’s still this level of harm.

‘We need to do something about the fact that some of these people are able to get these guns in the first place.

‘I don’t know what we’ll do about it ultimately, but we need to find national and local solutions to it.’

Lucas said he was in the front row when the ‘horrifying’ shooting unfolded, which sent thousands of fans sprinting for their lives as chaos took over the Superbowl celebration.

He recalled the moment the fun family event descended into mayhem, seconds after the Kansas City Chiefs players were ‘dancing on stage.’

‘That’s when (police) rushed the stage,’ he continued. ‘There was commotion, and we all sprinted for our lives.’

A woman with a large cut on her face was seen being stretchered away from the scene

Terrified witnesses said the chaotic scenes separated families as children were left screaming for help, with the mayor noting he lost his family in the frenzy.

‘All of a sudden someone came and whisked me away… I ended up separated from my wife and was put in a police vehicle,’ he said, adding his family were ‘safe but shaken.’

    ‘It was horrifying.’ he said.

‘I don’t say that to enlarge my experience. there were a lot of people who had it a lot worse than me – someone lost their life.’

Last year, Kansas City recorded a record number of homicides at 185, a factor that the mayor said frustrated him following the shooting as he attempts to crackdown on the crimewave.

Lucas cited a 30 percent starting pay rise for police officers that he proposed to try and entice more residents to join the police – saying the force needed more officers like those who ran towards danger when the shooting began.

Lucas’ concerns over the easy access to guns was echoed by President Biden, who used the moment to call for stronger gun control measures.

‘Today’s events should move us, shock us, shame us into acting,’ Biden said in a statement.

‘Make your voice heard in Congress so we finally act to ban assault weapons, to limit high-capacity magazines, strengthen background checks, keep guns out of the hands of those who have no business owning them or handling them.’

It comes as tributes have poured in for the one person who lost their life in the shooting, beloved Kansas City radio DJ and mother of two Lisa Lopez-Galvan.

She passed away during emergency surgery in hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Local Democrat Manny Abarca who was a friend of Lopez-Galvan’s spoke about her impact in an interview with TalkTV’s Jeremy Kyle and Rosie Wright on Talk Today.

‘It’s a tragic situation. I was there with my six year old daughter, Camilla and we went from catching confetti to hiding in a bathroom, not knowing what our fate may be. Unfortunately, this is the state of large events like this in America.

‘We have to look out for those with weapons that are readily accessible, and accessible particularly in states like Missouri.’
