“What’s crazy is the week prior to Taylor, the boys at school were calling my son gay for wearing friendship bracelets,” she recalled.

“It wouldn’t bother me one bit if he were but it was horrible. He came home sobbing and then this happened,” she added, referring to the recognition from Swift — who also liked her Instagram Reel of her family enjoying her performance.

Overall, she said the concert was the best night of her family’s life and that her kids “are so happy.”

Luther also joked that her husband, Jamie, now thinks all the money she spent making friendship bracelets for the night was worth it. She estimated that she dropped about $10,000 between the jerseys, the bracelets and the three Swift shows she went to in Melbourne over the weekend.

The Oklahoma Sooners are consistently among the leaders in the nation in producing NFL talent.

The Kansas City Chiefs currently have four former Sooners on their squad – center Creed Humphrey, offensive tackle Wanya Morris, tight end Blake Bell and long snapper James Winchester. Sellout Crowd columnist Jenni Carlson had Winchester on her YouTube channel on Wednesday as the two discussed what it was like for the four Oklahoma alumni to play in Kansas City together.

 

 

 

 

Winchester played with Bell at Oklahoma from 2010-2012. Bell earned his nickname “The Belldozer” during his time with the Sooners due to his ability to bulldoze up the middle of the defense in short yardage situations. Bell began his collegiate career at quarterback before switching to tight end in his senior year.

Before being selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Humphrey was a three-year starter at Oklahoma. He was also named the Big 12 Conference’s Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2019 and 2020. Morris transferred from Tennessee to Oklahoma during after his junior year. As a senior with the Sooners, Morris earned second-team All-Big 12 honors. K.C. selected him in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Oklahoma has the seventh-most current NFL players among all colleges in the nation with 39 and have had 440 players drafted all-time. The Chiefs have had other recent big-time contributors that played for Oklahoma such as offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. and running back Damien Williams.

There is sure to be another slew of Sooners to be drafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. Could the Chiefs snag another? With offensive tackle currently being a position of question, it’s possible that they could have interest in Oklahoma’s Tyler Guyton – a highly athletic but inexperienced prospect.
