NFL legend Dan Marino picks his Mount Rushmore of quarterbacks but struggles to choose between Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes and refuses to include himself: ‘There’s a lot to pick from there’

Marino spoke with Sports Illustrated ahead of Super Bowl LVIII and was asked to name the four best players in his position. After decisively naming three of his contemporaries, he named two players in the running for the final spot.

‘To me, [Joe] Montana and [John] Elway, Jim Kelly—those guys, all those guys,’ Marino said.

Marino opted not to choose himself for his own list and reiterated how there’s plenty of names to choose from.

‘Patrick Mahomes, he’s going to be considered one of the best ever,’ Marino continued. ‘You got Tom Brady, you got a lot of guys. So there’s a lot to pick from there.’

Denver Broncos legend and two-time Super Bowl champion John Elway also earned his spot

Marino named Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady as players in the running for the fourth slot

Brady is the most decorated quarterback with a total of seven Super Bowl titles in his illustrious career. Meanwhile, Mahomes just won his second straight title with the Kansas City Chiefs and his third in the last five years.

Montana won four titles during his career while Elway had two of his own. Meanwhile, Jim Kelly is widely considered one of the best quarterbacks despite never winning the biggest prize in the sport.

All three played in the NFL around the same as Marino. And like Kelly, the former Miami Dolphins quarterback failed to secure a title in 17 seasons in the NFL.

However, his career saw Marino win the MVP and Offensive player of the Year in 1984. He also made nine Pro Bowl and three First-team All-Pro selections. Additionally, he lead the league in passing yards five times and passing touchdowns on three different occasions.

Marino holds the NFL record for lowest career sack percentage with 3.1 per cent. He also has the most seasons leading the NFL in completions (6) and pass attempts (5). Marino retired in 2000 and got inducted into the Hall of Fame five years later.

The NFL waited until Monday to announce they were going to punish a Kansas City Chiefs player for an illegal play they made in their Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

The NFL didn’t announce a fine on Saturday

As Michael David Smith with NBC Sports noted this weekend, on Saturday, the league sends out announcements regarding fines for the previous week’s play. The league waited until President’s Day to punish Bolton.

Nick Bolton received a hefty fine

According to Smith, the league confirmed on Monday that Bolton would receive a fine upwards of $8,000 for a horse-collar tackle:
“Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton was the only player fined for an on-field, safety-related violation in Super Bowl LVIII.

“Bolton was flagged for a horse-collar tackle on 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy during the second quarter of the game. And now the NFL has confirmed that Bolton was also fined $8,238 for the penalty.”

LAS VEGAS — Aпdy Reid, пow a three-time Sυper Bowl champioп after the Kaпsas City Chiefs‘ rollickiпg rally past the Saп Fraпcisco 49ers Sυпday, is peerless iп his era.

He already was the leagυe’s best active coach after Bill Belichick retired. Bυt пow that he has a third Lombardi Trophy — somethiпg jυst foυr other people have doпe — he’s rightfυlly iп the coпversatioп of GOAT.

Breaking News: Chiefs’ Harrison Butker Earns Acclaim for Heartwarming Gesture Towards Fan Who Passed Away at Super Bowl Parade

In the wake of the tragic loss of Lisa Lopez-Galvan during the Kansas City Chiefs parade, her grieving family sought a special way to honor her memory.

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker stepped forward in a heartwarming gesture to assist Lopez-Galvan’s family. She, a mother of two, tragically lost her life in a fatal shooting amid a dispute at the team’s Super Bowl parade.

A plea circulated on social media, asking for help in locating a white Chiefs jersey bearing Butker’s name. This was the very jersey Lopez-Galvan had worn during the parade, and her family wished to lay her to rest in it as a tribute.

Both Fanatics representatives and a friend of the team’s chaplain, Father Richard Rocha, saw the request and took action.

Butker, moved by the family’s plight, released a statement expressing his condolences and stating that he would provide an additional jersey for Lopez-Galvan to be laid to rest in.

“My wife Isabelle and I are heartbroken by the murder of Lisa due to degenerate violence,” Butker said. “Murder is a sin that cries out to God for vengeance, and I pray the men involved in this tragedy will be brought to justice. Hearing that she was a fan of my outspokenness for our shared Catholic Faith makes this even more personal. I am honored to provide a jersey to the family for her to wear. While the family is mourning their loss and grappling with their numerous injuries, I will continue to pray for their healing and the repose of Lisa’s soul.”

During the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVIII victory over the San Francisco 49ers, Butker achieved a milestone by completing the longest field goal in Super Bowl history with a 57-yard attempt.

A GoFundMe campaign was initiated for the Lopez-Galvan family and has garnered over $379,000 in donations since its inception last week.

Following the incident, Dominic Miller and Lyndell Mays have both been charged with second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon.

Reports indicate that gunfire erupted due to a confrontation sparked by someone’s gaze, leading to a verbal altercation at the parade that escalated rapidly, resulting in the individuals involved brandishing firearms.

Additionally, two unidentified juveniles have been charged with gun possession and resisting arrest for their alleged involvement in the mass shooting, which left 23 people injured.

PETA aims dig at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce for visiting Sydney Zoo

The popstar and her NFL boyfriend went on a date at the 16.5-hectare site earlier this week ahead of Swift’s three concerts in Australia’s biggest city, as they were spotted even petting a little kangaroo.

But, Debbie Metzler – PETA Foundation’s Director of Captive Animal Welfare – was far from impressed with the latest sighting of the ‘You Belong with Me’ and ’22’ hitmaker.

In a shared statement, she said: ‘While we understand all too well the appeal of seeing Australia’s wildlife, PETA hopes that next time Taylor and Travis want to see wild animals, they’ll spend their time and money at a true sanctuary.’

The charitable organization adds that a sanctuary is a better choice due to visitors being at a respectful distance from animals and the fact that they can’t feed or touch them there.

Chris Jones, L'Jarius Sneed Contracts Eyed by Chiefs During NFL Offseason, per GM | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors | Bleacher Report

The Kansas City Chiefs are facing a pivotal decision as they navigate the complexities of free agency and determine who to franchise tag. Joe Valerio, sharing his insights on Bleav in Chiefs, advocates for prioritizing the retention of L’Jarius Sneed.

Amid the post-Super Bowl victory aftermath, the Chiefs, like all NFL teams, confront challenging choices regarding free agent retention. With the franchise tag looming, the spotlight falls on two standout players: cornerback L’Jarius Sneed and defensive tackle Chris Jones. Both pivotal to the team’s success, the Chiefs must make a decisive call. Valerio contends that Sneed should be the priority over Jones, citing his views on Bleav in Chiefs.

“In my humble opinion, the loss of L’Jarius would be more detrimental than losing Chris. I’m not diminishing Chris’s impact; he’s undoubtedly the premier defensive tackle in the league. However, I believe the Chiefs could potentially acquire talent closer to Chris Jones’ caliber either through the draft or free agency.”

    —Joe Valerio, Bleav in Chiefs

Sneed’s remarkable performance in the 2023 season, highlighted by 2 interceptions, 14 pass defenses, and an impressive 51.0% completion rate allowed, underscores his value. Meanwhile, Jones has proven his prowess with an impressive 10.5 sacks as a defensive tackle.

While acknowledging Jones’ dominance, Valerio suggests that finding adequate replacements for defensive linemen might be more feasible compared to securing a lockdown cornerback like Sneed.

“I believe the Chiefs could feasibly acquire a younger defensive lineman to fill the void left by Chris Jones. However, replicating the skill set of a shutdown corner like L’Jarius Sneed presents a more significant challenge.”

    —Joe Valerio

Age could potentially factor into the decision, with Jones being older, prompting considerations about future longevity and the ease of finding replacements.

In conclusion, while both players possess undeniable talent, Valerio’s analysis underscores the complexity of the decision, with Sneed’s unique skill set and potential longevity tipping the scales in favor of prioritizing his retention for the Chiefs.

No team iп NFL history had ever overcome aп overtime deficit iп the Sυper Bowl υпtil the Chiefs did it iп their victory over the 49ers at Allegiaпt Stadiυm.

After Saп Fraпcisco elected to receive the overtime kickoff, the Niпers drove 66 yards iп 13 plays aпd kicked a field goal. That meaпt the Chiefs had to at least get three poiпts oп their possessioп or the game was over.
